Why do we get the worst politicians here in Chicago?

More like ANYONE BUT - fill-in-the-blank for Mayor.
Even tho the list of candidates is a long one, how many of those are a good choice?
How many are even half-way qualified?
Some offer up critical experience that they think somehow qualifies them for the job.
How many soccer games does the Mayor play in? That's a skill one candidate talks about that has no relevance. Prior job performance should be taken into account. Coming up with an insane soda tax that drove people outside the county to buy groceries should be enough to say - No thanks, you have to have better ideas. Out of all the candidates, who is really talking about cutting spending and reforming a poor government?
The best thing Chicago could do is to vote for someone NOT machine-related.

I watched part of the Trinity Church of Christ mayoral candidate forum today. McCarthy was especially entertaining. McCarthy offered Lightfoot the Corporation Counsel job and Amara the Deputy Mayor of Public Engagement job, if he wins.
Prickwanker and Mandozer were not at this event. Wonder why?
Also entertaining was John Kozlar with his "60/40 plan". Haven't heard of that? Read it and have a good laugh.
"60/40 Plan - There is a major tension between our communities and our police department. This tension only benefits criminals. To build the trust between our communities and police, this policy will be enacted: In order to police in a given district, 60% of the police have to live in the District. By living in the district, police will be seen not as outsiders, but instead as community members who know the residents, who will be raising a family within the district (thereby wanting their neighborhood to be a safe environment for all), and who will be investing in the district. No other candidate has this idea". This idea should be great for enticing new recruits.
So with this kid you would have to live in the district you patrol. And if you transfer or get shifted around, guess you'd just have to pack everything up and move to a new apartment or house in your new district. And if mayor would he live in the hood? Hard to believe he is a lawyer. Perhaps a bus ticket west to Portland for this kid. He seems out of touch with reality.
The others did their usual act, Willie said a prayer and the militant types showed who they would and wouldn't be for as mayor. Almost everyone said they would keep on Fat Eddie. Could color have anything to do with that? Don't want to rile anyone of color up before the election. Lightfoot said, for awhile. She also touted more affordable housing everywhere, and she means section 8. Vallas talked of facts and figures at least, and the rest just bs'd their way along pandering all the way. They kept talking of more de-velopment west and south. Willie talked of grants, Vallas bragged about the 50 percent minority contracts while at CPS, Willie, move your business and residence down there. Show us how it's done. Ford spoke on grants, free training and so forth for the kids hanging out on the corners that can't find work. Nothing about their behaviors or that of their parents. Free stuff always wins votes.

John Arena heckled a citizen who was speaking at a city council meeting because the person was wearing a Trump jersey. This guy hits his wife, lies and files complaints against city workers who disagree with him, has people followed and now this during a public meeting.
Keep dreaming. I'd hate to say it but John Arena will be re-elected. He has intense support around the Portage Park area. He only needs like 30% support in all the other areas.
If these can be made into bumper stickers I'd buy one.

Ah yes “anyone but Arena.” I don’t live in the 45th ward but I did lend a hand in attempting to get John Garrido elected a few years ago. Hundreds of officers either did not vote or voted for someone else. Lost by 27 votes I believe. A real pro police candidate who would have been a strong voice for city workers and the NW side. A guy who had the balls to put himself, his time and his money out there. While others filled with jealousy and self righteousness had to turn there backs on a fellow police officer. This department and city is truly going to get very bad before it gets any better.

Kozlar must not be very bright - and not familiar with Chicago neighborhoods. If he’s going to require that 60% of police officer live in the district where they work, there are a couple potential problems:
1. What happens when people transfer districts? Do they have to move?
2. There are some districts where almost nobody wants to live; if only 6 officers are willing to live in a district (for example), that would mean that the district could have a maximum of 10 officers.

He did say it, I went back through the video to find it so I could copy it accurately. If you go to the Vallas FB site or the Church FB page you should be able to watch it yourself. Or at the link I posted. Can't remember where it came in the video, I should have noted the time, but I think it's pretty far along in the forum discussion. Funny thing some people in the audience laughed at his offer of jobs to Lightfoot and Amara. Then he said he was serious or something about how qualified these women are. My mouth dropped open when he offered them jobs. lol Man he was in rare form, also his bits about how he was lead to do everything he has done in life or some such bs. A God thang, got to add that religious pitch. Wish I could recall it exactly. You really should all watch it. McNothing's answers on crime and corruption were funny too. You can look at what is happening in the 45th ward to happen in the 41st if Heneghan gets elected. He will lie, steal and cheat to get elected and once he does, get ready for Arena.2.
