Fired Chicago Police Superintendent-turned-mayoral candidate Garry McCarthy got the ball rolling by attacking the chest-pounding claims that Preckwinkle makes in her first campaign commercial about the behind-the-scenes role she played.
“Instead of Toni Preckwinkle manning up and saying, ‘Maybe I made a mistake’ or doing something about it, she’s trying to distract away from her troubles,” McCarthy told the Chicago Sun-Times.

At the mayoral forum on Thursday night, Lori Lightfoot declared only she and Garry McCarthy had local law enforcement experience.
That is a real stretch. Now she wants to claim us. No Lori, if you never worked a beat car, squad car, patrol car, flivver, rmp or prowler, you do not have local law enforcement experience.
Our police officers spend time at 26th & California during their careers, but that doesn't mean they have prosecutorial experience.
Never forget this Baby "G"-ism: "Everything involving Chicago, has a Racial and Political component to it." Preckwinkle dodged appearing at the Dog and Pony show on WGN this evening. Thirteen of the Mayoral candidates were present, with Joyce arriving late, possibly because he could not find the North side of the "Shitty". And the pandering to the Black vote was non-stop and part of Every candidate present, especially since 5 of the candidates present were Black. Not a one of them could produce a New Idea. One wanted a Casino(15 to 20 years too late), another wanted to bring back CAPS. Everyone wanted more police accountability, and one wanted all new "Shitty" hires to receive 401k plans instead of a pension. Bill wanted his corporate buddies to pay more taxes on their skyscrapers, most of which were built when his brother Mumbles was Mayor. Meanwhile,Toni is going to exploit the VanDyke case to the max, with sentencing next week, she has begun running ads actually showing the video of the shooting! The Burke Case had better nail Toni; or she may be the next Mayor of Shitcaga. And mark my words: If Toni is elected, the White Flight will be comparable to what happened in the 1950's & 60's! It’s my belief that Police Officers talk a lot of politics but in the end don’t show up to vote. However in this mayoral election we as a police family can make an impact on at least the first round election. We need to get behind a single pro-police candidate who has a chance to win it all. In alphabetical order I believe that’s Chico, Daley, Mendoza and Vallas. They all have baggage I know but we need to decide and not only vote but get our spouses, adult children and extended family to vote. We need to keep Prekwinkle from winning. We have a lot riding on this, a new contract a looming consent decree and a new superintendent. Not to mention pensions. We need to determine who has the best chance of winning and get behind them.

At least one of the politicians last night put the blame on carjackings where it belongs--young African American males from the age of 15 to 25. I was surprised that Bill Daley had the balls to say it in a crowd that was majority minority. None of the other candidates addressed the real problem.

It was actually a smart move. Willie is the only one there with the funds to run a mayoral campaign without having to go towards the Dem's or Repub's for PAC $$$.
Say what you will about Wilson, but he is certainly not a Machine fan. And I actually think he is more of a acceptable choice for the BlackVoters than Toni or Lori.
