Rifle Again

  • A man was killed in a shooting Monday afternoon in the West Englewood neighborhood, police said.

Two males walked up to the 23-year-old about 4:35 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 63rd Street and fired at him, according to Chicago police. He was struck in the chest and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not confirmed the death.

Investigators found cartridge casings for a handgun and rifle at the scene, but no weapons have been recovered, police said.
Anyone know if one of those AR-pistol platforms? We'd think that even in Englewood, someone would notice a walking around with a full size carbine.

A pistol platform ar so still pretty large to be walking around with. Concealed under a coat? Sure. But far easier to conceal a handgun. Maybe they just think it looks cool.

Englewood sees only what Englewood wants to see. Good luck finding a witness to anything that does not involve a cop shooting a poor innocent community member. Then you will witnesses that were miles away but saw everything and willing to swear on the bible.

What caliber were the casings? There are pistol AKs which don’t have the AR’s buffer tube. For that matter, there is a Keltech PLR shooting 5.56 without the buffer of the AR variants. Doubt it is the Sig just because of the cost of the damned things and rarety.

Be careful.

Very easy to disguise an AR pistol or the AK version known as the "Drako". Cradle in arms with a coat over it, who in the hood is going to make eye contact long enough to notice? Very easy. That Drako has an awesome sound too, btw.

And you never know if the cases were from that particular incident. They're everywhere around Club Wood.

Do we know for sure it was a rifle? Maybe the reporter heard .22LR and was confused.

My AR pistol is 24 inches long. It would be very hard to conceal without a long coat. There are one or two models of AR pistol where there is no traditional recoil spring buffer tube in the back, which would cut down the size significantly. However, both of those models are out of production and were made in small numbers, so it would be unlikely for one of the scumbags in the 'hood having one.

I'm puzzled why they're being identified as males. Gender is not relevant to this story.

Wasn’t there a case of AR pistols stolen from a railroad box car in Chicago a few years back?

The Thompson Center Contender can be configured with a .223 Remington pistol barrel. But that's more of Fudd gun and no self-respecting hoodrat would be seen with one. Back to the drawing board.

I seem to remember back in the day they would have a photo op dumping all the recovered guns in the lake somewhere. What do they do with 200 assault type weapons? Has anybody ever seen them? Just curious.

"Drako" in Russian means "dragon" if I am not mistaken. Good name for that weapon. Its sneaky, powerful, and bites like hell.

I’ve always associated the big hardware with the Hispanic gangs. Perhaps they are muscling into Englewood.

Mmmmm-Hmmmmm...

Those fools in Englehood think they're ready
for the shit Mexican and Central American
cartels do?

Don't do SHIT for them when it starts happening.

Just drive by to:
Look.
Point & Laugh.
Leave.

It's all part of the Liberal Democrat Progressive
Alinskyite game plan in an attempt to groom and
grow a more obedient and fanatically devoted
constituency.

Remember... THEY say border security is "racist."
