No "Malice"

  • In court, prosecutors said the incident happened Dec. 28, after she logged into her workstation and computer. Two witnesses saw her send the email, which indicated a male co-worker had a gun and was going to bring it to the office and was planning a “mass shooting.’’

Someone called 911, prompting police, SWAT and tactical officers to swarm the building and evacuate it. They later learned the worker had no gun and “had no such plan,’’ prosecutors said.

The IP address came right back to her workstation. Investigators made contact with her, and she admitted sending the email and that she never saw the worker with the gun, according to prosecutors.

The email was sent out of an “abundance of caution,’’ her attorney Robert Pervan told the judge. “It wasn’t done with any malicious intent.’’

Later, outside the courtroom, Pervan said she sent to email after she had a conversation with the co-worker and believed he did have a gun, which are not allowed in COPA offices, and a plot.
One has to wonder - her lawyer says she "believed" the man had a gun and a plot.

So will police officers be afforded that same defense? An officer believes his/her life is in danger? He/She believed a subject to be armed? An officer believes an arrestee had a "plot" to escape once the arrestee began resisting/flailing/battering everyone within reach?

The hypocrisy here is nausea inducing.

Doesn't this set a example for whistle blowers as this lady believed that something was going to happen and made a notification but is now being persecuted for it. Who's gonna be a whistle blower now? People don't get involved because they believe that the system is corrupt and when they get involved the police attack! Wasn't there a recent law had said if you believe someone is going to commit a crime with a gun that the gun can be taken from them?

Too bad there isn't a better word other than "hypocrisy". Hypocrisy is too mild of a word to describe their fake moral pretense. I am sickened by the double standards the fascists liberals live by. Her lawyer ought to win an academy award for his performance. Thank God I will be moving out of this state in a couple of months.

Once again, as I stated when these allegations were surfacing; in the Name of Transparency(Democrats love to throw that term around.), the entire COPA hiring policy and background check policy needs to be Exposed. I have a feeling, that if the truth were told, we would see an actual trail to "Sponsors" and issues. Remember, this Poor Soul was an attorney. A White female attorney who wants to take a job trying to frame coppers, in the name of Social Justice, Restorative Justice and every other form of Justice, except for "Just Us", should automatically raise red flags. Does COPA use polygraphs in hiring, especially when they ask questions about previous treatment for mental illness? Apply the hiring standards used on cops, if you are going to hire people to investigate cops. Is that asking too much? Baby "G"

Sounds to the average citizen reader she had a beef with the guy, concocted this phony story which backfired on her. Now her legal strategy is to invoke the letter of the law; she "believed he had a gun" and let what was purportedly going on in her mind and what she believed is her defense. And this woman is going to be investigating the police? Another very poor hire by someone that should be explored. I bet the problem begins with how she obtained her job.

That argument might work if she had notified police about an impending violent crime, not emailed some political hatchet guy. I also think the actual contents of the letter, and her relationship with the subject of the letter, had something to do with the charges. You don't get to lie and say you did it because you meant well.

And she 'believed' he was going to commit a mass shooting?
Did she also 'believe' he was going to tapdance on his desk? Put gum on the elevator buttons? Poison the coffee?

You have to have a REASONABLE belief and you have to be able to articulate it. And a NORMAL person notifies the police - oh, wait, she investigates the police, so let's not tell them, the people who can actually DO something about a threat of violence.

Who's she kidding? What a crock this is. She sounds unstable and has no business in that position.

The problem with your premise, she tried to hind her involvement. They had to track the email to her computer via the IP. Making shit up in your head and spinning a story from an illusion you created is the problem. What she did is a sign something is not right with this person, who has the authority to ruin your life. If anything comes of this, the least should be her removal and an investigation into cases she's handled. Someone with any paranoia is a danger and should not be allowed to be in a COPA position. Any officer who had her investigating an allegation, should get an attorney and challenge her recommendation(s).

If she’s catching those charges, there’s more to the story than we are being told. People lie and make false reports all day long, so again, if she’s getting charged, there’s something more we don’t know about yet. And the police attack? Really? Where did the police attack? I see that the initially took her wanting very seriously. The police showed up in force to try and protect a group of people who they don’t even like. They were told someone is going to shoot up the COPA offices, and they went running to the potential gunman to save these scumbags. Where did the police attack her now? AND charges were approved by the cook county states attorneys office. And they never approve anything. So the case has to be rock solid. So where’s your blaming of the states attorneys? You sound like a real doofus. I know you think you sound super intelligent because you repeated the first the her attorney said, and you used words like “corrupt” and “whistle blower” but your arguments are about Twitter deep. Meaning they have no substance, no knowledge behind them. And you shouldn’t be on here, you need your rest Mr. Ethan Ethos. Now scram you rascal.

She does know better. She doesn't give a shit. It doesn't matter what her brother does. This wasn't some mistake she made or some belief she had that a co-worker was going to shoot up the office. This was an intentional criminal act by falsifying a threat and then making up some ridiculous lies in an attempt to create a justification. It's all bullshit. She should be fired and prosecuted and found guilty. Instead she'll be a hero at the office and seen as someone who was just trying to keep everyone safe. Let's wait and see if she sues for false arrest and files complaints on the officers involved.

Heh...

"No Malice," eh?

How many Policemen who acted without "Malice," yet have been
sacrificed on the COPA/Community Retributive Justice hanging tree?

You know... Since acting on behalf of personal and public safety,
public peace, order and for the common good of society is no
longer offered as an umbrella for Policemen...

If Policemen get wet, does society catch the cold?

Everybody wants The Police to slow down/back up/retreat
and not be so quick to take Police action.

In addition to being judged via leisurely 20/20 hindsight
after the smoke clears and the dust settles.

Who sits in high-assed judgement of COPA when THEY
leave the rails?

Who pillories, slander and defame COPA and their mission
when one/some of their peoples/folkses steps in it?

Oh wait...

Hastily screwed into a vacant City Hall socket
to appear as if "something is finally being done"
by giving the loud and noisy a "seat at the table."

You are correct. Wish they’d release her motive, which is more interesting. Let’s just say the falsely accused potential gunman, a fellow COPA employee, was reporting her for...

Stay tuned...then again, this will likely get buried by the media and COPA scum.

Lest we forget Miss Gowan, the fires COPA attorney who had knowledge of an assassination plot against CPD officers but failed to report. Instead, had social media communications with dangerous offenders trying to set officers up to get them ‘fired and sued’ because ‘two dead cops will only result in jail time, which doesn’t help you[shitheads].’

You must have heard the story about former IPRA investigator Martrice Campbell.
She was fired after a fellow IPRA investigator Brian Lockhart threatened to kill a bunch of supervsiors, including then IPRA head Scott Ando.
He specifically stated he was going to kill some female employees, then " take out" Ando when he came " running down the hall trying to play the hero "
He was arrested, charged with a felony, and was found not guilty following a trial.
Martrice Campbell went to court and perjured on his behalf.
Campbell and a friend/fellow IPRA investigator submitted false official reports to IPRA. Both were subsequently fired.

When I heard this story I had thought they rehired Martrice Campbell. I mean, she committed perjury in court, perjury in a government workplace, and the Cook County State's Attorney's Office never charged or prosecuted her, so...stranger things has happened.
