And sergeants before the end of the month? All sorts of activity on the calendar.

How many detective spots are in the 2019 budget? Last year was 200.
So I don't have to keep calling the FOP, what # are we at on the detectives list? Any word on size of next class?

My guy in HQ tells me class of 50 detectives only. Small class will be last of 2019 most likely.
I'm hearing small detectives class. This will be the only class for this year until NEW budget for 2020 with NEW mayor.

Mayor election Feb 26, run-off if needed will be April 2. A small detectives class mid Feb per HQ approx. 50 detectives slotted will be only class in 2019 until new budget in 2020.

Transparency, a word we hear quite often on this job. For every person who gets a merit spot, the reason for this should be listed right next to their name. The reason why they received a "merit" promotion, that would be transparency. Just putting the name of their sponsor is not transparency. More bullshit to heave upon the huge steaming pile that is already there.

Best of luck with "Bert" Muniz. He's about as sharp and dense as marble . Did the same thing to coppers in 024. Tried to hang everybody he could then couldn't understand why there wasn't any productivity.

This all 100% true. Jimmy he has promoted everyone from his old team and then some. All from 193. He doesn’t care about Patrol and looks down on it. He’s only in 010 until Kennedy retires and then he’ll go back to 193 as Commander. All the supervisors you have in 010 that we’re from 193 will eventually be brought back over there as well. Stop working for someone that truly doesn’t give a shit about you or what you do.

We’re only about 50 Detectives short of the 2019 budgeted strength. Expect a small class of 40-60 depending on how many retire or get promoted to Sgt before the new class. No new 9165 spots added to this year’s budget. It remains at 1198 budgeted spots.
City already has enough Dicks. Take that anyway you want to. Adding 50 more just might get the homicide clearance over the 16% hump. No won’t happen the rate is more likely to fall since the experienced dicks will be wasting their time training those who could not pass a test.
So the 2019 clearance rate will be around 12-13%. Fetal police doing nothing proactive, severe moral problems , police hating community and police hating prosecutors will all contribute to this stellar outcome. Add in terrible Dectective leadership and a new clueless mayor who thinks people of color should not be in jail for any offense, your all in for an interesting year.

If you can’t pass a two part exam, what is it that makes someone better than the one they jumped over?

Lies. Long time detective that took the Sergeant spot. Easiest job I’ve ever had on this job. The detective spot is definitely good too, but it’s not what it used to be. If you’re in a district, any move is better than patrol.

Both times the new scores were delivered less than two months later. They haven’t even announced the next test yet. It’ll be eighteen months minimum before the scores are posted after they announce the test. You’re obviously a shit stirrer citing MLAS as your source. Who else told you? Eddie Burke?

Regarding Merit Sgt. - I heard there is an actual interview portion. Does anybody know how to prepare for this....
Seems a little unfair that for MERIT you have to interview but if you are able to score well - then no interview....
I think everybody should have to interview --- but feel interview preparation should be given.
There is no "merit'' to the CPD only suck ass, ball lickers. The detectives we have now can't solve shit so lets add a few more that will not be able to visit a crime seen unless they take a bus. Instead of more merits perhaps a few cars to transport the merits we are saddled with already.

I just stopped by the superintendents office and personally handed him my packet. I specified that I have aggressively worked foot patrol in 18 for the last couple of years and now I'm ready for another cushy spot that would require no police work. Although I could still bring in some Anovs is I wanted but never answer any jobs that require police work. Belmont and Western here I come.

In the academt we had a quiet room deemed a safe space if you felt yyou needed a time out.
Any suggestions would help me - and am looking forward to patrol - I hope.
Remember when chief of Det was promoted to Lt. She made no bones about it she was merit and proud!
Because it’s all smoke and mirrors to make the process seem legit. It’s like a NOJO where you get called in for an interview. For the most part those spots are already spoken for before that NOJO even came out. The application process and interview is just so they say everyone had a fair and equal chance. Same thing with merit. Those with the most clout just have to go through the motions. They could answer every question in gibberish and it wouldn’t matter.

I agree 100% - the interview is scary and difficult. Most people do not talk anymore - due to cell phones anyway and text messaging....
Maybe you should have to interview for merit so that you have to explain or show why you should be promoted over others who scored higher on the test...what is unfair is someone who scored 2500 getting promoted before some one who scored 500...

The entire merit system is rigged for the clouted. A merit packet, resume, and interview are just formalities. If your plugged enough, you can walk into the interview, cut and fart then leave and be ranked highly qualified. Study, do well on the test and get promoted legitimately. Earn it !!!!!!!

First they have to pick the company then theres research of the test material then actual test, all that will take at least 1.5 to 2 years. List is up till the new list compiled.

There should be no merit for Detectives this is why the clearance rates are so low if cant produce you should be dumped.

Far from the truth. The clearance rate is low because the D-Unit is filled with supervisors who has never worked as detectives. Supervisors should be leading the investigations, but they don’t know how.
Wait til you see who is merit out of Homan Square.It's not pretty.
