Granny Clampett in the News
- The Coalition for Police Accountability is calling for the firing of Oakland Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick in the wake of the 2018 police killing of Joshua Pawlik, a homeless man who was shot 22 times by four officers.
The coalition is directing its demand toward federal court-appointed Compliance Director Robert Warshaw, who has the power to fire the chief under the court-supervised Negotiated Settlement Agreement (NSA), which has governed Oakland police reform efforts since 2003.
What moron hired her for that short stint here again? To avoid a lawsuit she would have lost anyway?

Oakland PD has been under federal control for 16 years? I am sure a lot of billable lawyer hours have been generated in that time.
Oakland is a complete shithole which is overwhelmed with violent crime, but hey it’s nkt the communities fault. The police are the real problem.

I find it hard to believe SCC would give any credibility to the demands of s Police Accountability Group, even if Granny Clampett is the Chief. It's a real stretch that the Chief, of any agency, should be responsible for the actions of a single officer, who acted while performing his or her duties. For all I know the involved officer acted appropriately in the incident as well. A reasonable persons idea of reasonable is often far removed from that of a police accointability group.

It sounds like , from the article, she was trying to back the officers, asuch as possible. It's a different day and age in polickng. They could definitely do worse.

That is like saying a New Yorker driving from New York City, New York to Los Angeles, California is an Illinoisan because he took a piss on I-80/I-94 as he drove through Illinois.
What moron? That would be Libby Schaaf, the Mayor of Oakland. The one who tipped illegals off about ICE actions.
But I think Kirkpatrick was out of town for the multiagency teenaged hooker scandal (which resulted in three Oakland chiefs having been hired and fired in June 2016) and I didn't see any reports of the hooker having a female clientele, so Kirkpatrick was unlikely to have been a participant. This was probably a job requirement.
Also, the Oakland PD is operating under a federal Negotiated Settlement Agreement, whose honcho (former Clinton deputy drug czar Robert Warshaw) can fire Oakland's chief.
