Off Duty Killed

In 018. Details very scarce at the moment.

Prayers all around.

UPDATE: Second person wounded was NOT an officer. An officer was in the back seat but was not wounded. Headline has been changed to reflect this information.

UPDATE: Second person upgraded to critical. It was looking very grim for a while.

UPDATE: Random attack? What the fuck?

UPDATE: Twenty-three year old John Rivera, nephew [corrected] of a retired Chief, senselessly murdered.

With all due respect, as posted here last night,
an update: late Friday night, jury in trial of former
E. Pittsburgh officer Michael Rosfeld returned verdict
of not guilty in the death of Antwon Rose II.
Offices of Attorney representing Rosfeld were shot up

premature retirement from practice of law. No police
shot at or injured (so far),

From what's reported in the Trib, the dead Officer was only 23 years old and on the job for two years. The poor guy had an entire lifetime ahead of him.

And also from the Trib article this attack was unprovoked, so 'could' it have been a targeted hit, the sole purpose was just to kill a Chicago Cop? Unfortunately in today's climate of 'police hate' -- ginned up by the Leftists, bottom-feeding Democrats, and their media lackeys that is more than probable. Annnnnd!... it's become all too common!

I think it's long overdue to where the Murder of a Police Officer is a Capital Offense and on BOTH the State and Federal Level.

Rest In Peace. Thank YOU for your service.

To the family and friends of Officer Rivera, my prayers and deepest sympathy on your loss. Know that you are not alone. We, the brothers and sisters of Officer Rivera, will help you carry on not just in this time of deep sadness, but forevermore.

To the person I just voted for: may you have the wisdom and the guts to return this city to what she once was. To uphold the premise of life and liberty very dear to your heart. To stop the violence that the drug-dealing cartel communities are wreaking on citizens far and wide, rich and poor, black, white, brown and all in between. To hold accountable those that commit crimes, to keep criminals who BELONG in jail, IN JAIL. To stop unleashing violent predators back into society. To do less is to fail....

This Officer's death is an unfortunate barometer of the political climate. It reveals the truth of how unlawful, unpoliced and dangerous the downtown area is today. Chicago is no longer a SAFE city! Not to take away from our fallen officer, but I have worked side jobs in River North for years and constantly have seen the neighborhood go from bad to worse. River North at 3:00 in the morning is nothing but Englewood with a Bub City. They should open these clubs at 63rd and Halstead where they belong. Even the far left liberals in that neighborhood agree me with.

Another note, when the desk crew asks me to go get food from Mr. Greek at 3:00 in the morning, I tell them to use grub hub cause there is another shithead club that opened up a few doors down. Just a matter of time before that place really blows up and I'm not the one who is going to be standing in line full uniform with a bunch of drunk shitheads.

Some citizens are speculating that the two off-duty officers were "targeted" because of their patrol activity in the distant 6th District.

However, this shooting occurred thirteen miles north of the Gresham station, 7808 S. Halsted St.

Unless there was a confrontation or someone made their CPD status known to a cop killer wannabe in 018 last night, the logical hypothesis is that the murder was a random act.

Investigators who are working a double-shooting in River North early Saturday that left an off-duty Chicago police officer dead and his friend critically wounded are considering the possibility that the men were misidentified by the killer, according to a CPD source.

While stressing that the investigation is on-going, the source said that police are looking at possible connections to an incident one hour before the shooting at the former Rock’n’Roll McDonald’s.

Now neighborhoods that want Police on Patrol Near North , Mag Mile ,Lincoln Park , BOys town , Lake View , Edison Park Southwest side of Chicago where a beat car patrols an area the size of most ghetto sectors get No extra help , Police are not able to stop and frisk the thugs on foot , driving in cars looking for their next victim . this cancer is spreading to western , north suburbs because criminals go unchallenged . play race card .

Yep.. they love the Instagram shot of all the cars in procession. It’s actually sickening. Neighborhoods would be on full lockdown with coppers spread out across an area for miles. There are millions of cameras down down. Get out of the damn procession and line every block and start canvassing. Every video system you find ask to look at the video or just document its location. After your canvass take you paper with the locations and give it too the detectives. Then wait for orders from the detectives of the next step.

You do realize that the area of incident is not the indigous environment of a mutt. Many things at once must happen. The loss of a po must be mourned and a rabid human must be found to be brought to justice

Newbees more interested in forming the procession. A waste of time. The shooters are out there somewhere. Start looking and stopping the mutts in the area. The procession won't solve the case. The shooting of a PO should cause terror to rain down on the criminal element.

Relax Francis. Let them honor the dead policeman. There were shitloads of detectives and po’s working on lots of leads. Dude is in custody already which is proof of that.

31 years is right

Using humor to cope with this job is not to display when in public view on a crime scene

And if you can’t even remember that on the crime scene of a slain policeman, then you don’t belong on the job

I just want to thank all my brothers and sisters in blue that helped us gather the hundreds of hours of video, and leads that helped us get a quick identification, arrest and confession from this deranged animal. RIP Rivera, we have your back; No matter what the world thinks of us, we didn't stop working until we caught the savage. Unfortunately, no amount of good police work will bring you back to us!

Condolences to our brothers in blue, who have the hardest and most thankless job in the city.

Thank you sir or mam! We appreciate the CFD, and we know that you are one of the few groups that can relate to our loss! Your kind words are appreciated!

And if you were not a Monday Quarterbacking couch potato, you would have seen the hundreds of officers and detectives that couldn't pay their respects because they were running down witnesses, video and any other leads.

A generation ago, I was a daily reader of the Chicago Tribune newspaper. I would not spend a penny a year for a subscription to that ultraliberal yellow rag with its City Hall propaganda and often "fake news". Burn in hell, Bruce Dold. I do have a modicum of respect for John Kass.

We were in a restaurant this morning. I picked up the house copy of Section One. Their abysmal coverage of the murder of Officer Rivera appeared all the way back on page eleven.

As we morn again our brothers, never forget who created a once great city and turned it into Mogadishu. The One Party State, the Democrats. God bless those that protect us, for they are the barrier between civil society and anarchy. Thank you and find the vermin.

You dont stand around the crime scene with no useful purpose, you go out and look for the bad guys.
