One thing I noticed after moving to a warm “red” state, is that cops don’t make anywhere close to what IL agencies were paying, so at least you’re getting paid much better while on that sinking ship.
We are a long way away from arbitration. Due to the election there has next to no work done on the contract. Meetings have been stale with no real progress or talks. By the time Lightfoot gets in and settled I don’t see an actual meeting of substance until the fall. There won’t be many meetings over the summer because there never are. Arbitration is after all else fails. There hasn’t even been a monetary offer or counter offer yet made.. that’s usually made in the first month or two.. still has yet to take place. Everyone was first waiting for the consent decree to happen. Then once it happened Rahm said he wasn’t running which again put off meetings. We still have at least two more years minimum till this thing even gets settled.
Well that jokers for treasurer who promised free money and a Chicago bank lost... That is a decent outcome (sort of).

On Monday I was Downtown and was walking around when I seen the F.O.P Protesting so I walked over and was standing around listening to everyone. I Pissed at this time and stated maybe he should have been shot more. He stop a women and asked her to witness what I just said. He said repeat what you just said. I told him to repeat the question. He again asked me if Laquan McDonald should have been shot more. I stated because I was really pissed off at him for Yelling and talking shit to me. Yeah he should have been shot more. Turns out the this black guy was Jamal Green and he took it upon himself to post it on his facebook page that I was a Retired CPD Cop and said a Racist remark. Note to the mayor-elect: There is this obscure agency called ICE that can help with criminals who are not supposed to be in this country let along this exact city. Policy is important. Stop with this crap. that is his or anyone's pay for getting elected to that position. All inside elected positions are D5 except for the President? Why should he be paid any less? If someone got elected who say, has a stake in a security business, should they make any less? Catch that their Mikey Shields. What if they owned a business or rental properties, should they make less? He was voted into a position which his salary is set at D5 and that is what he deserves, especially for the amount of work that he does for the members.
That vote should have been unanimous. Grahm should start worry about more important things like his horrible leadership on failing to intervene on the consent decree and utter failure in contract negoatations.
Also please stop with the JCat bullshit. He is good at one thing and that is screaming at the top of his lungs no matter if he is right or wrong. Oh, and for getting CR's on fellow coppers.

You lost me at “Suburban Sgt.” I really wish you retired guys would find a part time job, a hobby or some friends who aren’t the police. Gas prices down? Where do you buy gas? I live in Chicago and it is over $3 a gallon. I happen to buy gas just over border in Wisconsin every week, and it was $2.79 there last week, up from the $2.00 and sometimes under $2 I was paying in January.

Talks had already taken place to allow a smooth transition. Eddie Johnson will retire within 3 months to make way for the new Chicago Police Supt. Leo Schmitz. The only problem is that he will want to bring along ISP hack Luis Gutierrez. Gutierrez management style will not go over well with CPD. His managment style is exactly what CPD needs to rid itself of. Hope Schmitz reconsiders his personal options.

Agree, I think we are already below rock bottom morale wise. Hard to believe we could be restricted and monitored any more. It can really only get better. Fixing the pension would definitely give it a boost and take it off all our minds. Getting a contract done. And increasing manpower would help too.

We are a long way away from arbitration. Due to the election there has next to no work done on the contract. Meetings have been stale with no real progress or talks. By the time Lightfoot gets in and settled I don’t see an actual meeting of substance until the fall. There won’t be many meetings over the summer because there never are. Arbitration is after all else fails. There hasn’t even been a monetary offer or counter offer yet made.. that’s usually made in the first month or two.. still has yet to take place. Everyone was first waiting for the consent decree to happen. Then once it happened Rahm said he wasn’t running which again put off meetings. We still have at least two more years minimum till this thing even gets settled.

You lost me at “Suburban Sgt.” I really wish you retired guys would find a part time job, a hobby or some friends who aren’t the police. I'll compare my current suburban department to yours any day. My "quiet" suburb percentage wise, probably has more current officers that have been in shootings than the % of Chicago cops that have been in one. Our detectives work more homicides a year on average than a typical CPD detective. Adding in the SSMCTF murders, they guaranteed work more murder cases a year than the typical CPD homicide detective. They also work shootings, armed robberies, sex assaults, burglaries, financial crimes, and everything else a CPD homicide Det. doesn't work, because CPD is "specialized". How many homicide detectives are in CPD? If it's 500 detectives, Chicago averages less than 600 murders a year, so a CPD det. works 1 or 2 murders a year on average. If it's only 300 detectives, then you average 2 murder cases a year. Big fucking deal. Suburban Task forces work just as many murders a year as your areas or districts, or whatever you guys call yourselves now.
I'll keep my suburban gig a few more years until retirement. It pays better than Chicago and I don't have to live in Illinois. You Chicago guys aren't that good anymore and nobody is looking at CPD as the standard, so lose the air of superiority, especially towards the "busy" suburbs.

I'm a white single female who used to frequent the city all of the time. I became less and less confident in the last 7 years or so when I started to observe noticeable changes in and around the "better" parts of the city (i.e. Gold Coast, River North, Streeterville, etc.). A couple of weeks ago I went to a salon in River North and my stylist and I were discussing how bad things have become in the city, particularly River North. The following morning an officer was killed about a block away from where the salon is. You hear this type of stuff all of the time. Now, with this leftist goon who became mayor yesterday, I will not set foot in the city for fear of something happening. Even if nothing were to happen to me, just the psychological toll that it takes removes any and all pleasures of being in the city. I used to love my beloved Chicago and was always proud of being from here. I hate the city and what it has become. I don't have a desire to live here anymore and am planning to leave. I want to live somewhere where I'm able to enjoy my surroundings without thinking that I'm going to get carjacked, raped and/or shot. That's just not a normal or civilized way to live. Aside from the cost of living and horrendous weather, crime for me is the breaking point. I don't feel safe at all and I believe crime is going to get worse, if that's even possible, under Lightfoot. She is extremely leftist and will turn Chicago into another San Francisco and Seattle in the near future.

How many homicide detectives are in CPD? If it's 500 detectives, Chicago averages less than 600 murders a year, so a CPD det. works 1 or 2 murders a year on average. If it's only 300 detectives, then you average 2 murder cases a year. Big fucking deal. Suburban Task forces work just as many murders a year as your areas or districts, or whatever you guys call yourselves now.
I'll keep my suburban gig a few more years until retirement. It pays better than Chicago and I don't have to live in Illinois. You Chicago guys aren't that good anymore and nobody is looking at CPD as the standard, so lose the air of superiority, especially towards the "busy" suburbs.

Every mayor gets a detail you will say ok, but wait why does the city clerk and city treasurer have massive details also? No one even knows who they are or cares,and you want to eliminate those elected spots anyway which are a waste of resources.

The large governor wants to change the constitution to get his progressive income tax reform. He is spending thousands on promoting his agenda. I hope they are not tax dollars! When he starts the new tax system and realizes that the targeted incomes have moved elsewhere, he will be coming after the next group, and so on, until he gets to us, who are stuck! He really can’t be that stupid, or is it a scam to open the constitution to change everything and anything they want?
