- Omar Tungekar tried to contact someone in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office after his father was kicked to death in a West Loop road rage incident on Sept. 2nd.
“I spent days trying to find a way to contact someone,” Tungekar said. “and the first time I called, the person who answered the phone told me the guy who normally answers the phone was having a ‘hard day’ and couldn’t take my call.”
While TV star Jussie Smollett’s family had no trouble pulling showbiz- and politically-connected levers to get in touch with Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx directly, Tungekar’s experience continues to be a nightmare.
“I wish I had [Smollett’s] access, but my dad was a working-class Pakistani cabbie. Those aren't groups that get access,” he said.
Jussie had Mrs. Obama's Chief of Staff making phone calls for him while this family had to see Felony Review shitcan a 100% winnable case captured on video and learn from others that the suspect had fled to China upon Felony Review's refusal to charge.
Hey Rahm? Special Ed? You want to send a message? Pull out of the Felony Review agreement and have detectives present cases directly to the Grand Jury. Good attempt at a solution, but what good would it do? Smellett was indicted by a grand jury. It made no difference to Crimeesha. She just does what she wants to do, or whatever the connected types want he her to do. It seems a grand jury indictment means little to her.

The public wanted Foxxx’s interpretation of “justice” which is why they elected her. Instead of protesting, the FOP should instead continue to inform the public of the role of the ASA’s office, how difficult it is to get felony charges approved, how inaccessible the ASA’s become to victim’s and witnesses awaiting resolution of cases, and how the ASA’s office agrees to deals without consulting with victims.
While the FOP is at it, they REALLY need to also draw attention to some MAJOR apparent problems with testing procedures at the ISP (Illinois State Police Crime Lab who tests all evidence collected). Of course evidence collection and testing is not like TV, but far too many evidence submissions come back negative. I’m talking around 98 percent.

This failure to prosecute the murderer of a Pakistani man should be rallying point for Moslem community here in Chicago. Foxx is relying on fact this ethnic group remains docile and apolitical.
If you don't have connections in Chicago you can't get justice and if you do have connections you won't receive justice.

Again, the only reason that there is a Felony Review Unit is because the ASA were not winning a lot of cases & they blamed the detectives for this. So they determined that the way to win more cases is to let them determine what cases to go with.So the birth of the Felony Review was to make incompetent ASAs win more cases.
Why must one have to check CWB or SCC to get accurate, well rounded news coverage as opposed to talking heads reading their left wing version from monitors on the local media stations?

Cases like this - where Foxx ignores a solid case against a person who is NOT black (although he is, as some would argue, “a person of color” - as was the victim) - make me wonder if her goal is to collapse the criminal justice system entirely.
I’m sure that she would argue that the police and courts were “unfair” to her fellow Cabrini Green residents - “hassling”, arresting and imprisoning them “for no reason” (apart from drug sales, theft, robbery, assault and murder). That’s what I USED to think drove her outlandish decisions to not prosecute cases. Now, I’m not so sure.
Could it be that she’s NOT just out for some payback for “the community”? That she’s trying (and largely succeeding) to destroy public confidence in the justice system - to create a “crisis”, so that a “fundamental transformation” would be welcomed by the citizens, no matter how extreme it is, just to end the chaos?

You Have to remember, these ASA's WE deal with are the ones who graduate at the bottom of their classes and this is the job they can get out of law school making 17-25,000 a yr.
That's why I quit the police department and moved away. I was too disgusted with all things Cook County.
The Department can walk away from the felony review process at any time. Felony review is a self-created process that was instituted in the 1970s by the State's Attorney. Remember, that is an elected position and they run on the number of wins they can tout. To them, any conviction is a win so plea down used to be a guaranteed win. Now it has become don't bring charges and it reduces the compared numbers. Minimal charging and refusal to prosecute puts the number in the skyrocket category. That makes them electable in their mind. Add in the corruption and you have Foxx's regime. To battle this, all we need to do is invoke the ILCS that empowers law enforcement to bring charges; with no interference by the prosecutors office. There is also a statute that empowers the prosecutors office and it states they are charged with bringing charges on the cases brought forth by law enforcement. All we need to do is walk away from that political arrangement and do our job. After the case is in their lap its on them. Yes they can dump the cases, but they will stop doing that when they need to explain ut during election season. A few electio. Cycles and we may correct the problem, and right the ship in the justice system in Cook County.

You make a great point, this was clear even on video funny how the feds are not taking the low hanging fruit,special needs kid in a drive by and the story is buried. No investigative reporters hounding for this "child," no marching fake pastors or priest,heck Eddie did not even join arms and offer to march down the middle of expressway for this poor child and this offender!
