Don't count on that. The election is two years away and a lot can happen before then. You must remember that Foxx is black and will be supported by black officials and elites against any opponents who are not black. Bobby Rush has also not paid his metered Peoples Gas account in over 8 years on his MBC church front in Englewood. A few years ago a Peoples Energy Shut Off crew were sent to disconnect his service at his church , after the meter reading truck could not pick up a signal from the sending unit. The crew along with security were met at the door by his secretary, she said to wait outside and she will be right back. A few minutes later the Peoples Energy rep received a call from his supervisor to move on to the next shutoff and leave the Congressman service alone.
In short, the Congressman had someone remove the monitoring device on the meter which measures the amount of gas used, the gas will still flow even without the monitoring device.
Must be nice to get free natural gas for over 8 years.

Citizen here. I was proud to be present to support the FOP and CPD. Was there early enough to see Jackson and his entourage arrive. He made sure the cameras would be focused on him. They went directly into the building, out of site, and did no form of protesting. I agree that a bull horn or microphone with speaker would have helped but our group was louder even without. Seeing the anger and rage and knowing that our officers have to face that day in and day out is troubling. Thank you all, CPD! Many, many years ago (1976), before I became the police, I worked for People's Gas and was assigned to the "Collection" bureau. We went to an address where they were over $10,000.00 in past due gas bills and had ignored all attempts at "resolution". I don't know how they do it now, but back then, we would dig up the street and shut off the gas supply at the main. Unbeknownst to me at the time was that the address we were sent to was Operation PUSH headquarters. I get the jackhammer out and we start digging up the street when my supervisor gets a page on the company beeper (Pre-dates cell-phones) and we get told to stand down. shortly thereafter, we are told to stop the "shut-off" and repair the street. Apparently, Bobbie Rush wasn't the only one getting free gas. Remember that the next time you pay your gas bill! Certain people are exempt from the rules that we have to live by!

A law cannot be circumvented by a negotiated contract. FOP negotiates your contract. And going to court is a loser. Home rule has all the bases covered for the city. Also, the state is totally controlled by democRATS and the state lawmakers and judges have no interest in changing a law for you. To put it simply, you are fucked.
I am no fan of FOP, but residency and the continuation of residency is not something of which FOP has been neglectful because FOP is powerless when it comes to residency. Even if we changed our bargaining agent, any duly elected and authorized bargaining agent would also be powerless. See paragraph #1. FOP has not been neglectful. FOP's hands are tied.
The FOP and the City of Chicago were not conceived the day you came on the job and you are very far from the first to want the residency requirement changed. There is a long history concerning residency and you should have inquired before coming otj. The city had you bound and tagged the minute you were hired. You fucked up. Get used to it or go find another job because the residency requirement is not going to change anytime soon.

You must be uninformed. The state law allows tints. That why there are so many businesses tinting car windows it’s always been allowed to have a 30% or so tint under state law, but Chicago used home rule to not allow any tint on the drivers and passengers sides. It has been tested in the courts and upheld. There still is a city ordinance outlawing tints

As far as other city’s going to court and winning, that is true. Problem is this is Illinois and all those cases were won in the state courts. This is a state issue, not a federal issue. It appears you are naive about the state courts. The city would fight it up to the Illinois Supreme Court and we would lose it there. It has a democratic majority. Or the Illinois Supreme Court could refuse to hear the case if the appellate court sided with the city. Sound familiar , like in the retirees healthcare case

SPRINGFIELD — A man who Chicago police ticketed for parking a car with tinted front windows wants the Illinois Supreme Court to review whether the policy oversteps the city's authority.

Sudip Ray, who received the $250 fine in 2010, contends his car meets state window tint standards and the city doesn't hold the power to pass a stricter policy.
Ray's attorney, Thomas T. Glasgow of the Law Offices of Thomas Glasgow Ltd. in Schaumburg, filed a petition for leave to appeal asking the justices to review lower court rulings that upheld the fine.
"Ignorance of the law is no excuse, we get that," Glasgow said. "However, the assumption for anyone who gets in their car and utilizes public highways is that there's going to be a uniform code for how they're supposed to conduct themselves on the roadway."
The state constitution designates Chicago as a "home rule unit" based on its population, which allows it to adopt legislation to "protect the public health, safety and welfare" of its citizens.
Ray's petition, though, contends the window tint ordinance fails a three-part validity test established in Illinois case law.
Ray argues the policy unduly burdens intrastate and interstate commerce and bears no rational relationship to its stated aim of protecting police officers. He also claims the Illinois Vehicle Code doesn't allow cities to regulate equipment on automobiles.
Allowing the ordinance to remain in place, Glasgow said, gives home rule municipalities the power to enact a variety of restrictions on vehicles, creating confusion over where cars can legally drive.
"If the Supreme Court allows this type of precedent, you're essentially saying the home rule authorities can do whatever they want to do with any kind of traffic or any kind of equipment," Glasgow said. "And they can essentially hobble intrastate or interstate travel."
A spokesman for the city's Law Department could not be reached for comment.
Police ticketed Ray's car in 2010 and he contested the fine. Both Robert W. Barber, an administrative law judge, and Cook County Circuit Judge Patrick T. Rogers upheld the penalty.
On appeal, a unanimous panel of the 1st District Appellate Court found that no state law indicated the legislature wanted to trump the city's ability to adopt the ordinance.
Ray's petition to the high court, filed Oct. 26, does not appear on the November leave to appeal docket — the list of cases it could accept or decline later this month. The justices will next act on a batch of appeal petitions in late January.
Glasgow and an associate, Stephanie K. Olsson, represent Ray pro bono.
While Glasgow said the tinting policy troubles him, the ordinance represents a much bigger issue.
