So 007 has been the subject of some special attention as of late. We don't know the entire background stories, what policy was or wasn't followed, and what corrective measures were or were not taken by supervisory staff. But it seems that a member of the Inspection Division has been directly assigned to ensure that policy, procedures and Special Ed's directives are followed to the letter.

- Hey SCC! Might want to check whats going on in the 7th district. Rumors are flying around that a inspector is now hovering/assigned over the 3rd and 2nd watch. apparently the both watches have stopped with all activity. as in ZERO everything. no one is bringing any activity. in retaliation to the inspector micromanaging the watches and making them stay full tours. no early ducks. no leave 1 hr before "actual" check off. LT CM stated that he has noticed the changes and might be worried. hopefully 7 keeps it up. it looks like they are the only district that will stand up to these sackless merit hacks.

I didnt know this was possible but the admin sgt in 007 worked at least 18 hours everyday this weekend. Including tours of duty in area central. Which is really strange since hes assigned to 007 and 007 isnt even in area central. I guess this is why that even though hes admin he has made more than the superintendent the last 4 years staright. Maybe the inspector can check into that instead of messing with the actual cops that are out there handling jobs all day.

I thought it was zeros since jvd and the aclu agreement. And now consent decree. Why has anyone brought in anything? Making us stay longer just makes parking a mess and no midnight cars up to handle calls. Genius, but what did you expect?

That's great! An inspector means extra manpower! If they show up on your scene tell the dispatchers your good, the inspector is here to back you up. They are sworn Officers and still the Police. Put them on scene on your paper. Add them to your arrest report. If they refuse to back you up and sit in their car demand a CR# for cowardice! Get it all on body Cam.

The department keeps forcing “change” down your throat until finally you have had enough. Looks like 007 is taking a stand and saying enough is e-fucking-nough. If you have to have an Inspector come and do the job of the on duty watch commander, then what’s the point of keeping the WC or the DC left in those positions, and how about the DSS ? Rotate they asses every 3 months.
Incompetence should be an immediate demotion...down a rank, not moved to a non-patrol unit.
The activity ordeal won't last long as long as you have POs taking pride they are "leading the watch in ISRs." Long story short midnights was always down 5-10 cars a night with the in house OT cars etc so 5-10 3rd watch cars went in early to turn over keys as needed. Lemmer found out and now no time due without slip and work the whole way while mids sits a few hours waiting for keys every night. In addition some cars got to go home early if it was their Friday over the course of the week, furlo Fridays etc. Lemmer didn't like that either so now we get inspectors at check off all summer. Days also got written up 5times for cars going in to turn over keys during that 1 hr at the end by GPS.
The place is a shithole leave the officers alone !!!!

In 003 they stay the third watch only has to stay the full shift, listen to zone 7 around checkoff times and hear the Robert cars say they don't have cars nor pdts, so 3rd watch cars get late jobs, sgts have mentioned this to commander, and a certain lieutenant that was investigated for cheated , saying there needs to be incentives to stay in 3, which falls upon dead ears, despite all this, there are still cops that go out and do way more than the bare minimum, can I get a positive commernity interaction number?

Very few want to be the police. Most new hires just want a job with benefits. This is what mass hiring produces. So glad I retired.

Residency is a law. A law cannot be negotiated as part of a contract. FOP is powerless when it comes to residency. You were fucked the very minute you accepted the job.

Only upside for swiping is accurate ot.
When inspector Joe Marroto arrived in 010 for his rounds,he would call you in to the W/C office, look you over and then write you up for an appearance award even if your boots were ghetto scuffed.A class act who was the real police and recognized the working police.
If residency is a law it can be challenged. Years ago an attorney, I forget his name, came to the FOP meeting and stated if the law were challenged he expected that based on comparable jurisdictions that it could win.

Wrong. The other City Departments don't allow their employees to do that. You have to be in a position where you don't have a Official Office to report to daily. Like the OEMC staff that swipe in and out at 016. Or the Finance Ticket writers that swipe in/out at 016.
Your District or Unit Building (Marine Unit, Belmont/Western, Homan etc..) is your Home Time Clock location and you're ID won't work anywhere else.
Even my Unit Deputy Director has to Swipe in and out daily. So does the City Comptroller.
Every City Employee should be swiping in and out.

Other jurisdiction agree to the residency or never had it as a condition of employment. If it was a law it would be under home rule and if challenged would end up in front of the Illinois Supreme Court as it’s a state issue. See how that would turn out. Retirees learned when the appealed the health care issue. Supreme court just refused to hear the case after in 2014 ruling in favor on the same issue for state employees

Those were good times. Wasn't uncommon to have either of those Inspectors out of their car on a gun call with you, or assisting on a stop going through the thugs on the trunk of a car with you. Both of those Inspectors were the Police.

If residency is a law it can be challenged. Years ago an attorney, I forget his name, came to the FOP meeting and stated if the law were challenged he expected that based on comparable jurisdictions that it could win.

Residency has been negociated in contracts on many suburban PD's. Problem with Chicago's, is that a law was passed that in cities of over 1 million people (Chicago), residency CAN'T be part of contract negotiations. FOP dropped the ball years ago when they didn't fight against it getting passed downstate (see Madigan).
