Hey Tough Guy

You're the police, right?
  • Yesterday nite at about 3:00 AM on zone 4, while 001st district was in a rap since 4:00 PM the previous day, 5780 of the MAIU unit goes over the air to announce a disturbance at the front door to the MAIU office. "There's an intoxicated female banging on the door, send someone to take care of this". There were no cars available, as its Saturday nite and 001 has the usual skeleton crew.

A couple minutes later, 5780 goes over the air again, this time with a very agitated tone, telling dispatch someone has to take care of this disturbance, he can't have this happening there all nite. Another reasonable voice goes over the air, telling 5780, "You're the police, handle it yourself." I was laughing my ass off when I heard it. 5780 replies over the air very maturely and intelligently, "come here and say that to my face." Because, apparently, he's too busy to handle a disturbance at his front door, but has time to pick fights over the air on a backlogged nite, when the airwaves are actually needed for real police issues.

Long story short, dispatch asks a unit that's in 001 on paper to please take a break from the paper and walk over to MAIU and handle what apparently can't be handled by 5780. The moral of the story is, once you're in a unit, you lose the ability to perform basic law enforcement functions.
What the Hell is going on at Major Accidents?

The Sgt was the only one in the office trying to hold down the fort while everyone was out on assignments. A drunken asshole walked in a was causing a big distrubance. When he couldn't verbal judo that person into walking around to the front desk of 001 he called for an assist car. The dog asses in 001 couldn't even respond to help another officer out. Instead, 1st district Officers response was to make smart ass comments on the radio about "your the police you handle it".

Your bitching about the MAUI Sgt? Take a look in the mirror you stroke your the problem!

The Sgt wasn't asking anyone to make an arrest or do a report or anything you deemed "He should Haddle" He was asking for an assist car!

I hope one day when your 99 dealing with a drunken asshole and you call for an assit some coppers do the same thing to you.

You know what I hope happens reguarding this incident, they close the 24 hour MAUI desk and everyone can then walk around to 001 for all the questions and reports. Enjoy the extra work 001.

This is due to the fact that they go along with Lori to take cops from any area that is not overrun by feral predators because they are now all emboldened by Lori, Cabrini Kim and the left permissive attitude towards violence by the permanent victim class. All the cops are on the south and west sides taking care of the sociopathic psychotic criminal community.

MAIU has a few dogs that won't do their DAMN job! My nephew was involved in a hit and run accident. The offender was road raging and ended up side swiping my nephew's car. My nephew pulled over to exchange information and the off took off and refused to stop. My nephew took a clear picture of the vehicle and the license plate and went directly into 001 to make out the report. He gave ALL of the information to be put in the report. A few days later MAIU contacted him to see if he wanted to pursue the matter and he stated he did, and he was told someone would get back to him. After a week, no one did so I told him to call them. He did and eventually was told by PO W.that tho report the accident. e offender didn't have to stop because they were otw to a police station to report the accident. Any officer knows that's not what you do! Then she told my nephew that the offender reported the accident and said he didn't know he struck him and came in later to report it. To the poster who said the Sgt was only looking for an assist I call BS! If he was only looking for an assist, why didn't he say that on the radio? He wanted someone to take care of the problem while keeping his own hands clear of the whole situation. Typical CPD leadership - lead from behind. Oh, and I guarantee that if the situation went way south and the Officers got jammed up this Sgt would have thrown everyone and the kitchen sink under the bus to save his skin.

Surprised?
Say what you want about not getting involved in ghetto bs.
Is cowardice acceptable, for some?
Shamelessness has always extended beyond Units.
District CAPS are good for that, same with foot guys too, no case reports (PDT) on board.
Traffic cars don’t do parking violations and parking enforcement doesn’t do traffic crashes.

We used to call out police who had to call the police.
I’m not talking calling for an on-view assist, but to do the entire matter from mediation, report, arrest, court, etc.
Some slugs are too dependent on Tact and hard charging ppo’s.

Many moons ago a in NW side District far away, the “6 to 9am” parking car had declined to do a traffic crash called in by an ADS who on-viewed it on his way to HQ. Maybe it was a traffic car not wanting to do a rush hour parking ticket, it’s was long ago.
The next day the District no longer had a dedicated parking (or traffic) enforcement beat.

You know what the biggest problem is in the department besides the obvious test cheating scandal, goof superintendent, and "it's our turn now" mentality? The job has become a me-me syndrome where certain people have come to the conclusion that its all about them. Unfortunately, the ones most responsible for it are the bosses on this job, especially the big ones who would step on their own mother to get ahead and not think twice about looking back.

I'm sorry but whatever cry baby made this post is exactly what is wrong with CPD.

MAUI has a 24 hour desk, just like the desk at 001 except its on the side of the building. The night of this incident, there were multiple fatals including the police chase.

MAUI for a side swipe? Uhhh the MA in MAUI stands for MAJOR ACCIDENTS. I don’t think a side swipe qualifies guy.

Doesn’t major accidents also handle all hit and runs? Which was in this case.

When doing crash report in clearnet after you submit it for approval, report shows as sent to unit of approval and MAIU.

20 some traffic specialists in MAIU and they are responsible for clearing over 20,000 hit and run accidents a year. Then they get the major accidents/fatal which they are the ET and Lead Homicide Detective. But yeah....the unit does nothing.
