Too bad it wasn't a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday - there would have been six cars with the magical flashing Poverty Prevention Lights on:
- A man was killed and three others were critically wounded when someone in a passing car opened fire at their van on Lake Shore Drive near the Fullerton exit late Thursday night, according to Chicago police.
The four were headed north in a Honda Odyssey van shortly before midnight when they were shot in the northbound lanes in the 2500 block of North Lake Shore Drive, police said. The driver of the van sped away to the Belmont exit and pulled over at a parking lot in the 3200 block of North Broadway, police said.
And an expressway shooting:
- The shooting happened about four hours after two men were shot near the northbound I-94 ramp to southbound I-57, according to Illinois State Police.
Troopers responded to the shooting on the Far South Side about 7:35 p.m. and found a Nissan on its side.

The "poverty prevention magic light cars" are not enough. Nobody pays attention to squads with their lights on, that's why nobody pulls over. You need to post the yellow diamond shaped highway warning signs at all entrances to the Drive such as "Shootings Ahead, You Could Be Hit Or Killed, much like the "Deer Crossing Ahead" or "Icy Conditions On Bridge" signs. And install those electronic signs like "23 Minutes To Loop" but they could give the odds at getting shot by time of day, weekends, number of people shot at or killed in past week and pending gang reprisals.
I have a feeling that business's who sell bullet proof vests in this town are going to make a killing (no pun intended) in sales this summer.
Not to worry, Jabba's new gas tax will solve drive-by issue.

Hold them accountable, make them go to your citizen's & beat meetings and face the public instead of the police officers who have no power to stop what is occurring. This is where the the problem is. You can have all the police out there you want but it's not going to make a difference if they are not supported. Stop with smoke and mirrors, let the public know who is letting this crime continue unabated. They keep telling the police to try new strategies. Stop with the political bullshit. So on a beautiful Friday evening at 7:30 pm (daylight) there was a shooting at North and Wells in 018. With probably a couple hundred people/witnesses in the vicinity of the intersection, some asshole empties a magazine at another asshole striking him.
1. I’d say that our politicians are all to blame for this type of behavior to go unchecked. No consequences, no punishment.
2. There is obviously footage of the shooting available for FOIA. This should be put on full display to the public to show just how out of control things are getting.
Maybe then we can demand some ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY from our elected instead of blaming the police.
Oh and i’m not recommending anyone sworn FOIA this, for fear of retribution from within the department.

Progressives look at the high number of black men arrested and in prison and say “it must be racism”, because they cannot allow themselves to believe that anything but racism could explain the disparity in numbers. Reality disagrees, however. The DoJ, even during the Obama/Holder/Lynch years, showed that black people committed 45-50% of murders, despite making up only 13% of the population. White people committed the same percentage of murders while making up over 70% of the population.
The argument that poverty causes the violence doesn’t hold water, either. If poverty led to violence and murder, then the murder rate in Appalachia should be double that of south Chicago (per capita), which it isn’t. “The community” is the problem. People who escape it tend to do much better than those who remain, even though they usually continue to live in poverty, at least at first.
As to mayor Light-thought’s points about the lack of stores and coffee-shops, this too reverses cause and effect. “The community” isn’t violent because there aren’t stores and coffee shops, the lack of retail establishments (apart from a few heavily-armored convenience stores) is due to the violence of “the community”. It’s not only bad business to open a store there, it’s a moral offense to put minimum-wage store clerks at peril in a neighborhood where robbery is a certainty,
Until “the community” stops listening to the racist poison of the “community organizers” and “activists” and starts to take charge of their own lives - rather than waiting for some big payout in compensation for racism of past generations - they will continue to suffer violence and robbery and will continue to live in chaos.
That’s the cold hard reality of things, and no amount of “restorative justice” will change it.

We were at northwestern yesterday between 11AM and 6PM. My health problems have made me a regular there for the last 4 years.
I mentioned to my husband as we headed to the parking garage that it feels more and more unsafe there both inside and outside. I even commented to him, where is security? When I go alone, when my husband can't go with me because of work, I am too afraid to go outside to get something to eat or go shopping. I know I'm not alone thinking that way. Such a shame what has happened to the area.

To those afraid of going to northwestern hospital you are not alone. I'm a retired p.o. of 5 years and have been going to that hospital since 2009 for cancer treatment and blood disorder. Two years ago I transferred all my medical treatment to Loyola hospital. Just couldn't stand the thought of my wife having to drive to and from that hospital if I happened to be hospitalized again. (OT) It’s funny to see what is going to happen in the city working right now at this back of the yards shit show Fast working for a security company, it’s something have security company is getting compliments and this is a test for the company to see how well they do because there’s gonna be a lot of city contracts coming up. When you think of this this is a way for the police who many are hiding and trying to ditch and dad which they do which they should put a strange feeling is they are talking about getting the contracts at O’Hare and Midway airport and for the police to be on the streets also security company is looking into The contracts coming up for retired police officer’s who many work for this company to be working inside the district stations so they can put more person on the streets and you think about it it’s a great idea finally something can be done but more copies on the streets no more secretaries with guns.

To those afraid of going to northwestern hospital you are not alone. I'm a retired p.o. of 5 years and have been going to that hospital since 2009 for cancer treatment and blood disorder. Two years ago I transferred all my medical treatment to Loyola hospital. Just couldn't stand the thought of my wife having to drive to and from that hospital if I happened to be hospitalized again.
