Speaking of dumb reptiles, Escamerit just cost the tax payers another boatload of cash. But unlike his Adventures in Babysitting scandal, where he outright stole money from the citizens, this time it had more to do with his notorious incompetence and vindictive nature.
An arbitrator ruled in favor of a P.O. whom Escamerit had sent to another district after a dispute with a Sgt. The problem is the Sgt bid out of 025 only a month after the officer got detailed to 015 and dumb fuck Escamerit thought it would be a good idea to put a brick on the copper and not bring him back. Now the city will have to pay the P.O. time and a half for the three years and six months he has been wrongly detailed out of 025.
This is almost getting comical how bad of a fuckup Escamerit continues to be. I'm not sure what time and a half will come to for 3 plus years, but it will be a hell of a lot of coin. Why should Tony care though? It's not coming out of his pocket. Just from the tax payers of crook county Illinois.
Hey Groot - why is this guy still a commander?
- Caught dirty in 011 with guns in his locker;
- banging a CAPS girl in the office resulting in his divorce;
- using officers to transport his kid in Department vehicles;
- lying to investigators about free babysitting by CAPS officers;
- every single lieutenant in the District bidding out;
And now costing the taxpayers untold tens of thousands of dollars for a perfectly avoidable labor grievance for what is in essence, a personality conflict.

I don’t know who’s worse .... Escamerit or the brass of CPD that refuses to make an example of this guy? They always want to talk about accountability and transparency but never want to actually make an example out of someone that continually behaves in a manner that the department says they will not tolerate. If shit rolls downhill then how can the brass not be held accountable? It should start at the top. ☠️
2,000 work hours a year, before overtime gives us 6,000 hours for 3 years. Let's assume the officer has relatively little time on the job and use $40 an hour salary. That gives us $240,000 straight time. Add .5 to get the time and a half difference and he is looking at a gross check of $120,000 not including any overtime he worked. Then that gets added to his eventual retro check. Not too shabby. With enough bosses like this they can bankrupt the city.
Not to mention the ACLU blasting him for his minimum of 10 traffic stops during a mission letter that he sent to his lieutenants. Ol' Tony made the Sun-Times for that snafu. Word was a year ago that an ACLU lawsuit was coming down for Anthony's email. Never heard anything more about it but it can take years for that stuff to come to fruition. Kind of like the lawsuit where the city is getting sued for listing offenders as gang members in arrest reports, supposedly causing them to not get hired when applying for jobs.
If the City does get sued for Escamerit's ten stop email, they might as well just hand over sacks of millions of dollars. Tony has already been deemed to be not credible by the Inspector General and an arbitrator. It wouldn't be pretty if he had to give any more depositions. It would be hilarious though!
They, other higher-ups in city government, do not care because it does not cost them any money. Now if the higher-ups all had to toss a few thousand into the kitty to cover escastupid's boners (Ha!) he eventually would get the heave-hoe! And I do mean escahoe would be gone!

The reason is extremely simple. They all have some type of dirt on them. Whether it be incompetence, they’re clout hacks or they’re running a scam. Every one of them. They have to take care of each other for fear of getting the spotlight on them and their misdeeds.
It's definitely going to be over $100,000. You work 2080 hrs a year. he's already received his time, so he is due 1/2 time for every hour he worked. Roughly $42000 a year, times 3. Way to go Cmdr!!!!!!

Escamerit has pillaged enough from the City of Chicago. I think I can safely speak for everyone when I say that our tax dollars shouldn't have to pay for anymore of his screw ups. Usually when you win arbitration in a case like this you get the extra 1/2 time. You already have been paid for your regular time. Hope that’s not the case, but that’s how it worked out before

If this is for 3.5 years then the officer will clear approximately $110,437.56 dollars. I calculated this assuming the officer is getting paid for the year 15-20 year step salary. not sure if that’s accurate but that’s what I used. I accounted for a normal 4-2 schedule. The officer is due “time and a half” however he was already paid the straight time so he is now owed 4.75 hours for each day worked. So I counted how many days are worked in a year and multiplied the days by 4.75. Then multiplied for the amount per hour for that year in service and accounted for standard taxes... this officers taxes may vary. So the officers NET, after taxes is $110,437.56. Enjoy your money officer.

After reading the comments section in the pension thread I wonder if u guys and girls deserve a pension. The city is not broke. Here’s an analogy. I own a home. I have a mortgage (pension payment) of 2000 a month. Same month I buy a 100,000 dollar car, cash (TIF) and don’t make my mortgage payment. I call the bank and tell them I don’t have the money. They buy it. Next month I don’t make my payment. Call the bank again and tell them I don’t have the money. I put a 50,000 pool in the backyard. I pay cash for the pool. Next month I don’t pay my mortgage. Again I call the bank and tell them I can’t afford the payment. Instead I buy a new Harley for 30,000 cash. Get the picture now. Your pension is the home. TIFs are the toys. There is not a building going up in Chicago that isn’t getting tif money. Remember DePaul stadium, bike fly over, every new building on the river got tif money. The builders who don’t need the money are getting richer off of this. That’s why Rahm got such a nice retirement gig. The city is not broke and they don’t care if they lose their house (your pension). Guess what they will just buy a new house cash. Fight for it before it’s to late.
The last exempts I remember getting dumped was Dewitt and Lesanak (sp). Dewitt was a

Hilliard felt bad and made him a commander of auto theft. Dewitt has bigger balls than 90% of the losers we got now. Can’t remember any other exempt dumps after those two.

My 1st comment ever on Second City---congratulations to KG on his arbitration win, and it was great to work with you on the 3rd watch/015. You are a good guy and a good FTO, hopefully your stay with us was a pleasant one. I won a similar arbitration once with a boss just as stupid as yours and I totally agree they should be paying out of pocket. In the meantime, however, enjoy the win and contact Nationwide Retirement to see if you can put it directly into your fund tax free---I did and it really pissed some people off which I count as a bonus. There were more. Sodini, Martinez, Matthews, Kohlman, Martin, the Mambo King (forgot his real name), I think Voulgaris was dumped then repromoted. I'm sure there were more but most just retired rather than work at a lower rank. And I think the only reason Lesniak didn't lose an exempt rank was his ex-wife was connected and her spousal support would suffer. Now they have XO spots under deputies which are commander ranks they get moved to.
Rare case of proving the boss isn’t always right, getting wrongfully dumped might be the best career move for the PO
Take the money and run or in lieu, get a trade waiver.. always short of knuckleheads in 017.

If the pension has not grown dramatically our the last year what will happen when the mark3t dives down for awhile. Your all getting screwed everyday. Pensions , by law are not "stock brokerage accounts" for simplicity they can only have 1/3 their money in stocks, 1/3 in bonds and 1/3 in cash/savings. So you need to take that 12% from the stock market and realize that maybe 1/3 of your pension money made 12%, if the other
2/3rd's made nothing then the pension only made 4% overall.
Past that ,the other 2/3 thirds might not even stay "even" as inflation subtracts from their value if they are not making anything or little , so if bonds are returning 2% and the inflation rate is 4% , they lost 2% of their value.
You might think stocks are a great idea , but over many years bonds keep value , the stock market though, and stocks in a pension could fall in value or even become worthless if those companies go bankrupt , so there are sound reasons why pension funds don't return the the blazing returns the stock market casino does

Think about this....all these high paid salaries and not one of them said “the commander can not do this or we’re going to lose a lot of taxpayers money.” Heck, any boss should have known this was a bad idea. You don’t have to be a lawyer. Maybe they knew it but their pride was more important than taxpayer money. Anyway, if I were the mayor I’d be extremely angry about it and wonder why I’m paying all these people so much?

OK, real reason Dewitt got dumped. She was commander of 13 for a short time. Townsend paged her. She was getting hair/nails done and called his office and said she was in a meeting with the alderman. Townsend was suspicious and had his secretary 796 the number. (I think that's the code we used in the old days to see where a call was coming from). He found out it was the beauty parlor and dumped her the next day.

I am not the original poster, but the original poster has it right. Lesniak, the worthless tool, left as the commander of Auto Theft. And, when you say Lesniak retired as a DC, do you mean a deputy chief or a district commander? Regardless, Lesniak was knocked out of the deputy chief spot, but was not madea district commander from there. He went to Auto Theft as a commander. From there he retired.

Wrong. Pat the hack Huels was gone in 97. Barton wound up in 011 in the early 2000’s. I’m pretty sure it was a black alderman.
Bob Lopez got dumped from his street deputy spot to lieutenant by Jody Weiss. He was an ADS (assistant deputy superintendent) when we still had that rank. Bob threatened to march on city hall with his Puerto Rican reverends (I know, fucking cheesy) and he was restored to a commander rank until he retired.
McCarthy had Lopez dumped. Duggan told Lopez at Haymakers funeral.

O'Grady ran 011 for about three weeks before Evans and he went to Norridge or Harwood Heights. It was part of McCarthy's "we don't look at race, we look at who's capable" push.
Weiss dsumped approximately 30 exempts and another dozen retired early rather than get dumped .
