Geez Wod....WTF?
- New surveillance video from the dashboard camera of an Indiana State Police car shows the trooper racing to pull over Chicago Police Commander Edward Wodnicki last month.
The video also shows the squad car pulled up in front of Wodnicki’s. The video does not show the high-ranking commander, but he can be heard on the tape.
Wodnicki was allegedly traveling with his blue emergency lights on at speeds of 114 mph last month, leading troopers on a high-speed chase as he refused to stop.
And once pulled over, he begins to lie his ass off:
- “Put your hands where I can see them! Right now,” a trooper can be heard saying on the tape. “Get out of the car. This is not an emergency vehicle.” Wodnicki responds, “Oh please, come on guys. I’m a f****** policeman. I swear to God I thought you were giving me support.”
“A policeman where?” the trooper asks.
“Chicago,” Wodnicki responds.
“Is this Chicago?” the trooper replies.
“Sir, I am heading to a call,” Wodnicki can be heard saying.
Wodnicki said he thought the troopers giving chase were there to escort him back to the city. The veteran officer said he was rushing back to interview suspects already in custody.
Sure. Because Indiana troopers routinely escort unmarked, non-municipal plated, fleet-type vehicles, with no exterior markings, equipped with flashing lights that we can find on the internet for a few dozen dollars. Makes perfect sense. But he really must be a hands-on commander if he actually interrogates prisoners in custody. Why, his overtime checks for Court must run into the tens of thousands of dollars!
- What was the Chicago Police Department’s head of detectives doing in Indiana about 40 miles from Chicago anyway?
“I’ve been working all day,” Wodnicki can be heard saying. “I’m a f****** policeman. I don’t drink at all. I just had a f****** meeting.”
But Wodnicki initially told a different story to CPD command staff, saying he was buying ammunition across the border.
“You are in custody,” the Indiana trooper said on tape. “Anything you say, as you know, can be used against you, and I’ve been recording this whole time.”
Pretty sad that a commander of police has to drive all the way to Indiana, depriving Prickwrinkle of her nickel-per-bullet tax, just to get some plinking ammo. We certainly hope he took ammo orders from everyone in the Division. After all, if you're going to travel that far for a few hundred rounds, might as well make it an even ten thousand or so.
And in a city car using city gas, all paid for by the taxpayers? This is YOUR command staff Groot. They are a reflection of you....and your incompetence.

The light has to be mounted on the outside of the vehicle. It's more or less a courtesy, "Hey, I'm going to a fire. Please yield the right-of-way to me."

I cannot understand why Wodnicki is still employed by the Chicago Police Department. Whatever he was doing across the border in a city vehicle, it by no way justifies him driving at 114 mph to meet up with ANYBODY to do ANYTHING, including "interrogating suspects already in police custody," which we all know he would never be tasked with doing.

He's got plenty of whack and he could very easily get away with being an asshole, but he is not. He is a good guy. Some people are jealous of his pedigree which has helped him otj. There are plenty of those types around who are assholes and are easy to dislike, but the Wod is not one of them. All in all, he is a likeable guy who has had a charmed career, but it has not gone to his head.
Woz was a goof for going that fast and so was the trooper. Is the trooper that desperate for a ticket. He had the plate and video and clocked him. Run the plate and notify the city and have Ammo Woz turn himself in. No need to jeopardize numerous lives for speeding.
He was transporting fireworks across the border, he had to hurry to get back home in order to set up the display before it got too dark.

Around five years ago, he was a Sgt in AC and initiated a car chase for some armed robbery suspects. Went through 003. 390 (or 399) called the chase off. He immediately replied “No! Keep the chase going!” 390 said not with any of my units. Anyway, he got called into 003 after he lost the car in the south suburbs. Calls were made and nothing happened to him after. Someone posted the scanner audio on YouTube at that time. It was linked on this blog. Half of the replies called him stupid for chasing. The other half called him a hero for not stopping. So, he likes to drive fast, I guess.
And..... Nothing will happen to him

The wife and I were driving from Valpo a few years ago and were pulled over by Indiana State Police. I stopped as soon as I saw the lights, showed the Trooper my retired CPD ID card and DL and told Him I was packing a roscoe. He looked at the ID handed it back. He told me to have a great day and I was on my way. Took maybe 90 seconds total. The Trooper was a total gentleman.
That’s how you’re supposed to do it Woddo. Don’t be “That guy.”

Retired copper with lead foot says: Stopped half a dozen times in twice as many years, and they range from being great guys, all the way down to being complete jerks.
Never got a ticket but have gotten written warnings. The humorous part about the warning tickets is, that they all say, "They don't go anywhere, it's just proof of activity." Guess what guy?: They go somewhere. I guarantee that you couldn't get one a day without something being triggered.
Worst case was I had a baby faced trooper who was, at the most, twenty five YOA, start giving me a stern lecture on safe driving, blah, blah, blah. I interrupted him and said, "No offense, but I was on the job longer than you've been on this planet. Please, stop with the lecture: I'd rather have the ticket." He paused and then said "Have a good day."
Hey Indiana State Police, and for that matter any other of the neighboring Police Agencies....99% of us respect your laws and drive accordingly. You will sometimes meet our 1% assholes.

Then Wodnicki lied about holding the officers when questioned by 001 WOL. The officers weren’t released until a 001 sergeant went

That's interesting because the scenario you described sounds like the one where the dics were doing that to the on duty coppers from 001 that did the paper on that fucked up job where they had the mistaken identity death. It was in the media not too long ago where the family thought the guy was deceased for a week and next thing you know he walks through the door and they are now sueing. The dics were grilling the p.o.'s like they were criminals and kept them in separate rooms. Why? No one knows. IAD is supposed to handle interrogations like that if the cops are accused of wrong doing. Especially if it's so important that the dic supervisors fight with the Sgt and Lt of 001 about letting them leave the interrogation rooms and going back to their district of assignment.
I am impressed that a city car can get up to that speed.

I listened to the oldie song "INDIANA WANTS ME" on You Tube. It was hysterical. I even snorted my beer out my nose laughing. I loved the sirens and the Hoosier cop on the bullhorn at the 2:57 mark in the song: "This is the police. You are surrounded. Give yourself up."
I've had several experiences with off-duty ISP and one on the Toll Road in Indiana. A great bunch of guys. They should have locked up that "entitled" asswipe Wodnicki. Now watch as his daddy gets him out of this humiliating clusterfuck unscathed. Clout is killing our once proud CPD. The tragic fact is that the politicians and upper management are the ones that need "reform".
