- Federal agents have raided the home of a second ally of Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, this time former Southwest Side Ald. Michael R. Zalewski, according to a published report.
Thomas Breen, an attorney for Zalewski, told the Better Government Association and WBEZ-FM 91.5 that a search warrant was carried out in May.
“Despite the government’s interest in getting documents, we are confident there was nothing wrong in any of (Zalewski’s) conduct,” Breen told the news outlets.
In May? This investigation is taking on a life of it's own and it's being whispered that there are YEARS worth of tapes in the possession of the feds.

Had to look it up but Mike Madigan is 77 years old. If he fights the case he may get sentenced when he’s 80. Who is Tom Breen? Breen is a very good defense attorney. HE ALSO IS ONE OF THE GO TO GUYS IF YOU WANT TO PLEAD OUT. A look at his career is telling. I have known Tom Breen since he was a ASA along with Terry Gillespie in Maloney’s courtroom. Not a flashy guy, but low key. Always thought he was the best criminal defense attorney around. Not a guy to plea out his clients, he would rather go to bat. If I’m not mistaken Van Dyke had him, but FOP wanted Herbert. Looking back it was a mistake, all the Judges highly respect Breen. Todd Pugh is excellent also.

Think about this for a moment. Street Cleaning is already a PITA for those that want to park reasonably close to home if they are not working or don't have a driveway or a garage.
Can You Imagine the schedule if the city went down to 10 wards?
Using the 41st Ward and 38th Ward as an example, they sweep 2 grids a day, every day. 41 takes almost 1 1/2 months just to cover the entire ward.
How would you take 50 wards and turn them into 10? 016 has enough trouble just covering 45, 41, 36, 38 and 39.
The Best Bet would be to Reduce the Number of Wards to the Number of Police Districts and have the boundaries be the same as the Districts. And Have the Ward Office be in the District, you could empty out the CAPS offices in the Districts where the CAPS Staff are useless and shove the alderperson into there.

According to your impossible and illogical proposal, the CPD's 8th District (population about 250,000) and the 11th District (population about only 50,000) would both be represented by one alderman. You must agree that this would be grossly unfair to the CPD's 8th District electorate.
Also, based on the 2010 U.S. Decennial Census, a comparison with the populations of the nation's nine largest cities, excluding Chicago, and their respective per capita city council representation, Chicago should have no more than SEVENTEEN (17) wards/aldermen.
Add to that, the fact that unlike most of these large cities, it's no secret that Chicago will suffer a significant population loss in next year's 2020 U.S. Decennial Census. There is a distinct possibility that Houston will surpass Chicago as the third most populous city in the nation.
