Pol Says "Get a Gun"?
- After another violent weekend that saw eight people killed and at least 32 others wounded, one lawmaker is taking action by encouraging his constituents to arm themselves.
Bullets from a shooting that left a 22-year-old dead in the Austin Neighborhood on the West Side Sunday also found State Rep. La Shawn Ford’s (D-Chicago) car. Bullets were also found down the block, lodged in a love seat in a nearby home in the 800 block of North LeClaire Ave.
Ford tells The Mancow Show on WLS-AM 890 that he is encouraging his residents to arm themselves against the violence.
“I think about it all the time,” Ford said of the shootings that plague his community. “That’s why I’m working with a concealed carry instructor and we’re going to go through the neighborhood and we’re going to encourage people to get their concealed carry license because it makes no sense for people not to have the protections that they need.”
Well this is going to throw a wrench into all sorts of anti-gun plans.

Growing up in the 70's my cousins, who happened to be white, were locked up over and over again for what they did.
There was never a question that they should be released for being white, but instead they were locked up by white officers for what they did.
By saying that there is too many black and brown people in jail just tells the populace that all black and brown people are bad.
What this city needs is the law abiding black and brown people to step up and say the actions of the non law abiding citizens, who happen to be a darker skin tone, is not acceptable and needs to be punished.
I have spoken to many people of color who voice the opinion that they cannot testify against the thugs because the "system" doesn't back them up.

Rep Ford needs to push for a curfew in known gang and troubled districts. All forms of financial entitlements need to be cut off to those who refuse to work. Cut the benefits after first curfew violation.

The teachers may have a masters degree but that doesn't change the fact that the stupidest university students are the education majors. I belong to a shooting league and some of these civilians are hell on wheels with a handgun, they also know the rules as well as most police, they take their carry permits very seriously. ISP is slow walking my concealed carry renewal. It’s now more than four month since I sent in the renewal and paid the ridiculous $153 renewal fee. Even though my CCL is still valid while the renewal is being processed, I want the new card in case I go out of state or run into some copper that doesn’t know the law.

How long before the good politician discovers (and we hear) that, at $150 for 3 years, an Illinois Carry permit "discriminates against the poor in the community". That's not even counting the cost for 16 hours of training, plus an hour at the range time for qualification.
Gee, scary stuff! In their concealed carry classes they might actually meet some NRA members and discover they don't eat babies or run down minorities with their pick em up trucks, just for fun. Next thing you know they leave the Dumbocrat plantation and vote Republican.

No, I think the problem is that the people who are doing the shooting AND the people being shot are armed. The rest of them are not armed, but also are generally not targets. The legislation eliminates the fee for a five year license, as of 30 June, 2020. The current fee is $40. The application fee for a lifetime license will be reduced from $175 to $125, or $100, if the applicant has a valid Indiana handgun license. Licenses restricted to target shooting or hunting have also had their fees reduced. It appears the current $9.99 fee for fingerprinting may be eliminated. The new law states:
(c) This subsection applies after June 30, 2020.The law enforcement agency which accepts an application for a handgun license shall not collect a fee from a person applying for a five (5) year handgun license and shall collect the following application fees:
There does not appear to be any mention of fingerprint fees. Shall not collect a fee is strong legal language.

Next, if your card was valid when renewal was received by ISP, it's still valid until your new card is approved or denied, even though the date on your old card indicates it's expired. This has been verified on whatever hinky-dink S.C.M.O.D.S. system you cops use.

Now you might be up to speed as long as you know Groot is a democRAT and crazy as can be when it comes to illegal aliens (she loves them), the 2nd amendment (she hates it) and the cause of illegal acts (she thinks the cause is poverty). I took the Arizona/Utah CCL class at a local Raul King and now have valid permits good in 36 states. Of course I live in the FREE state of Indiana where according to the Chicago leadership everyone has a gun and we are the root of your cities problems. But strangely enough not a lot of shootings or crime here.

@ 9:02 pm - I think you are the confused one. A resident IL CCL is recognized in about 20 states, including every state that borders IL. It is Illinois that refuses to recognize by reciprocity any carry permit that is issued by any other state.
ISP is slow walking my concealed carry renewal. It’s now more than four month since I sent in the renewal and paid the ridiculous $153 renewal fee. Even though my CCL is still valid while the renewal is being processed, I want the new card in case I go out of state or run into some copper that doesn’t know the law.
It took about 4 1/2 months for the ISP to renew mine. Just bought a new Dan Wesson .38 Super to celebrate. Plan to carry it IWB whenever I'm in the City.
Get A Gun ? In my opinion, we have reached a time in America, when we must arm ourselves for protection. This is very sad. You can arm your self, but it's not going to save the Great American life style, I have enjoyed for over 70 years.

Interesting that this walking log of excrement is advocating that his constituents procure permits and firearms when it is the policies supported by he and his ilk that have exacerbated the crisis in the first place.
I'm quite sure this fellow supports reduced sentences for gun crimes and has supported egregious anti-gun legislation in the past. Eliminating plea bargains and then doubling or even tripling time served with no parole for gun crime will cut gun crime in half or more overnight but you can bet this politician would vote against the above due to 'racial disparity.'
They should purchase a 45/70 Henry repeating rifle... Plus the peoples will LOVE the brass bling!!!
