Feel better brother SCC. You’re no good to us ailing. Chicken soup good for the soul, raw chicken good for the gator. What’s good for the goose is good for the gator. So if I’m thinking straight, what’s good for the goose is to stay away from the gator.

God speed.

I am a suburban copper and a long time reader of SCC.

I have been to the City 5 times in the 3 years. I have been "Taxed" by The City 4 of my 5 visits. I normally only drive in while I have out of town visitors that want to sight see.

I was cited on three occasions over those 3 years while the vehicle was parked for not displaying a front registration plate, This occurred while my guests and I were spending money at some of the tourist destinations.

Tonight I took family into the city for ice cream and to one of the tourist hotdog spots.(The place with the hotdogs on the roof :) My vehicle was parked for no more than twenty minutes and when I returned my vehicle was "Booted" for those past parking tickets.

After having to take an Uber to an impound yard, pay the $610.00 fees, pay for an Uber back, and then wait for two hours for the boot to be removed. Between the tickets, the boot, and the Uber, it cost me over $700 and 5 hours of time over a few front plate parkers.

This left a great impression of the city on my guests. And to think they were worried about being mugged down there by hoodlums.I told them the real hoodlums down here wear suits.

I know people are going to say I should have paid the tickets to begin with....I know, I know. But we're still talking about over $500 for three parkers.

Lesson learned.

STAY OUT OF THE CITY !!

0248...maybe it would’ve just been easier to have a front plate to begin with, which is legally required and you should know that as a cop. On top of that, you deliberately didn’t pay the tickets and they caught you for it. Why cry about it? Pay your tickets, put a front plate on your car and don’t act above the law. This isn’t rocket science.

Put a front plate on your car, it's state law. Next time take your visitors to Indiana, you're not required to display a front plate. If your visitors want to see the skyline, Google it and hit images. Takes 2min and alot cheaper. Sorry you got hit by the parking vultures, but what did you expect with obvious violations and not paying the tickets. Be glad you're only visiting this hell hole and not a resident or forced resident.

Actually you would fit in well in our city. Blaming the consequences of your own actions on someone else.

How about just get a front license plate and be in compliance with state law, officer? You as a cop should know how important having a front license plate is when patrolling the street. And why do you think you should be exempt from it? Because you’re a cop? Because you and your friends paid for ice cream downtown?

Put the front plate on buddy. Lesson learned.

When then Attorney General “championed” a State Consent Decree, and unexplainedly dropped out out of politics it seemed like very strange timing. I agree wholeheartedly agree with Mayor Lightfoot that our department needs and wants a more level playing field and a more professional manner of training. We need to revisit this illegal Decree in that it binds our hands and destroys morale and opens us up for eventual lawsuits that manipulate the data. Our Union needs to demand the immediate termination of the decree and work with the legal and common sense improvements. With the Madigan Crime Family vulnerable now is the time.

Having a front plate is a requirement in the state, not just the city.

If you are from Indiana where a front plate is not required, you could have easily protested those tickets. Even I, a mere civilian, have successfully won parking and speed camera ticket appeals - even by mail.

If you're from IL, well, you should know better and I'm surprised you don't get pulled over all the time in your civilian car.

A hungry 4 foot gator is somewhere in Humboldt Park and the bosses all know that something ugly is going to happen and we'll get blamed for what we do or don't do. The hope is that someone responds to a foul odor, the worst case scenario is some little child retrieving a ball from shrubs or a marshy field gets snatched.

You must be a Democrat. You’re blaming everyone else for your problems. Illinois state law requires a front license plate. Why didn’t you have one? Then you blew off paying the tickets and then made the mistake of coming back to Chicago. What did you expect? Self inflicted frustration.

Wouldn’t have been $500 parking tickets if you paid them on time. Fines double if you don’t pay. As far as one plate, you need 2 plates on your car. I missed the subsection where it says you only need one if you are going to tourist attractions

But you were "smart" and "saved" money.
Lol. Thanks for the money you spent. Welcome to Chicago. Come for the crime. Stay for the corruption.

7/13/2019 08:08:00 AM

You don't have to "buy" a front plate. The state of Illinlois requires 2 plates on every vehicle (and guess what, they even tell you which one goes where!). This is basic IVC learnin' in every police academy in the state!

When you register your car for the 1st time, need replacemnt plates due to theft or loss, get a vanity plate, etc, you get a matched set!! He either has it on another car (trying to scam the system) or didn't want to ruin the look of his Prius, with a front plate holder.

So I call bullshit on this guy/gal being a copper. If he/she really is, then too f*cking bad. You got caught not one, not 2, but 3 times for having no front plate. Even a moron would get a clue after the 1st time.

Dear one plate,
Had you instead gone to South Western Ave. with the in-laws you could have gotten a dog at the infamous Fat Johnnies, then gone over by there past the Beverly Country Club ( where Ed Burke and Barack Obama are members ) to 91st and gotten a Rainbow Cone. You might have also experienced a celebrity sighting of Father Pfleger or Chance the Rapper. You wouldn’t have been booted as boot crews would have been chowin’ down with you.

I would bet “Suburban Copper” has written many pimpy tickets, i.e. no seatbelt as the only cite, 6 over the speed limit, fail to signal lane change-only ticket , Tinted (or clear) plate covers. Does he sit in parking lots with binoculars looking for drunks leaving clubs-i’ve seen that being done by several NW suburban departments.

That said, who parks on the street at Superdawg? Who takes out of towners just for ice cream there? Who ignores three parker’s and the late notices, who ignores the “boot eligibility letter”? He should see if his DL is still valid, they get suspended for unpaid tickets here.

In a nutshell, he got caught-Cupcakeneeds to suck it up

What kind of impression did that make? Then you blame everyone else for what happened? Ya sure there are much more important things and parking ticket fees are nuts but you brought this on yourself as you well know. There are 19 states that don't issue a front plate but Illinois is not one of them. And most of those are in the southeast and southwest states.

Hey suburban popo, u should know Illinlois is a 2 plate state, in between your barking dog calls check the IVC 625 ILCS 5/ 3-413(a) that should help u out with your plate issue. Im guessing u have a cool car with tinted windows, tinted plate cover and fop stickers ? Like someone said earlier, we get written up if we have 1 plate on our car or if we owe tickets, so maybe stay in the burbs , gotta b other hot dog places by u and maybe take responsibility for ur no front plate, I mean u clearly chose not to put it on ur car, and u chose not to pay them, so how bout just owning it officer?

To 7/13 @10:12 pm. Ed Burke and Richard M Daley are members and the late Tom Hynes, George Dunne and Tom Lyons were all members of the very restrictive Beverly Country Club. Barach Obama, due to his political pedigree, was made an ‘honorary member’ of the club and granted a waiver of initiation fees and dues. He can go play golf there anytime he wants to do so. In some respects the Beverly Country Club is more restrictive than Medinah. But then again, when would golf and politics ever mix?

Federal law requires that if a new car is registered in a state requiring two plates the manufacturer, through the dealer, has to supply a front license plate bracket to affix the front plate to. Daley wasn’t a member anywhere. He simply golfed as a guest of whoever was bringing him.

If you say that Barack is an honorary member, okay, to the victor go the spoils. But,it’s kind of like being granted the key to the city. Little chance he is going to be flying in to play 18 at 87th & Western when he can literally gold anywhere he wants in the world, much like Richie being able to go anywhere here.

I'll take this one, at least in regards to current DoF procedure.

Current procedure is:

IF Vehicle does NOT Have a City Sticker, SOS Check

IF Vehicle has Expired City Sticker, SOS Check

IF Unable to Run SOS Check, No Ticket...even if on Active RP Block...just ticket for the RP violation (if no Temp RP.)

We do not go visual anymore for the City Sticker Enforcement.
