School Cop Training (UPDATES)

We don't know where to even begin quoting this article.

Go read the link above and comment below.

The bullshit is deep and the condescension is heavy.

UPDATE: As some readers/commenters are pointing out, the school officers are being placed into an environment where, many times, the kids have already been taught to hate the police.

Not only that (and we've written about it) there's a curriculum in place that teaches distrust and promotes hatred of the police in schools based on nothing but innuendo, fiction and lies.

And finally, the Chicago Teachers Union which, though not all of them, actively promotes a "fuck the police" attitude as demonstrated at many of their public appearances and chanted from the podium by their speakers.

UPDATE: Anyone know if the students and teachers are being taught to (A) obey the law or (B) respect the law or (C) respect the police?

More out of state trainers! Why can’t our people come up with the training. I love the line that they want the brightest, like it’s above us all.

You volunteer for a spot that you think would make the final years of your police career easy.

How in the hell you thought that going to work security in 21st century chicago public schools would somehow be like 1950's policing?

These CPS students are taught to distrust the police, to scream racism every time they are caught and told that the CPD hates people of color so every law enforcement reaction to their actions is racist no matter the color of the police officer.

On the job first 12 years in Englewood, last 20 + in the schools (CPS). I have had much training. But never a title. Much discussion over the years over school resource officer title. I did much more work on a daily basis as a PO assigned than a youth officer with little no training of benefit or pay. Time for transparency . Will this be a assignment ,and where is FOP on this? Or a daily patronage assignment ? And what or who will govern and enforce the school administrators to do there part the proper way?

As a teacher in the western suburbs, I make it point to get to know my SROs. The middle name Resource is what the relationship is intended to.be, and I am grateful for your efforts and work and support.
I didn’t t waste the officer’s time with Johnny isn’t coming to class on time if at all. Or when a kid gives me some disrespectful attitude. I handle that shit. However, in partnership, we have hopefully set a few kids to change their ways for the better.
The part that is scary is this gem: “Chicago police do not currently have any policy directives covering the role of school officers.”
You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Gotta get that fixed.
So, thanks officer for your service! Not all of us hate you.

Is the mission for cops in the schools even defined properly? It seems that they're there in order to keep order with the students, not to protect the students from outside threats. So why use kid gloves with a person that crosses the line from being a student to being a criminal while in the school? If that kid exhibited the same behavior while out in public, would they be dealt with any differently by police?

because when the powers that be want something in this town they get it. No thinking, training or planning needed. But, to fully realize the extent of craziness in the department and city, just grasp the fact that the CPD had to being in instructors from Baltimore, probably one of the most screwed up cities in America. The problems with the schools are a result of politics, and a complete lack of maternal responsibility on the part of the 'parent', or baby momma. No amount of school police will change that, especially with the current climate of media and ghetto lottery entitlement.

Tolerance, acceptance, peace circling cafe stuff?

One freaked out mental and all that training goes out the window and CPD -CPS wash their hands while the PO hopes to retain his employment after a lengthy, expensive retainer.

Somewhere in the lesson plan they forgot to include CPS mandatory parental training.

As a school officer your school is your beat. Just as you wouldn’t let a citizen tell you where to be, or who to arrest the school is the same. Problem has always been the officers try to do their job, but when a principal calls to complain that the officer isn’t conforming to their crazy demands, the supervisors cave..... officers are not school employees. The principal cannot assign them to posts. They should never be where the students expect them to be.

O.M.G. Where do I start??? As a CPS teacher and supporter of police officers, let me set this argument straight. NO ONE from CTU said "Fuck the Police"... that was someone named Paige May who taught at a private school. Secondly, that was NOT a CTU event. It was a city union workers event. Third, as a teacher of that particular Civics curriculum, I will present the Jon Burge case because it happened! However, I will invite the police officers stationed at my school to come to my class and have a "real talk" session with the kids about the things they've seen and have to deal with. They also spend class time teaching the students the best way to interact with police officers during a traffic stop or arrest by giving the students their POV. I give as much "pro-police" time as "anti-police" time...probably more if you want to know the truth. Hopefully one day, SCC will give some of us teachers the benefit of the doubt instead of shitting on us like everyone in this city does. Whether you like it or not, we are all brothers and sisters in the same struggle.

How about lying Lightfoot and evev city aldercreature take the first shift of security at the schools so they can show how it’s done. They should perform for minimum of two weeks to get an idea of the needs. The illustrate to everybody else how it’s done..go ahead and take big Ed with you so he can take notes and video.

"Wait, I thought the Community wanted us out of the schools?
Come on, which is it? I'm confused."

Heh...

If the CPD "baby sitters" are made to go away,
CTU will be left all by their lonesome in those
CPS/"Communerty" indoctrination centers/zoos/crematoriums
as they go up in flames at the hands of the adult-sized,
3x strong as any man, "children" who attend these wretched
places.

CTU adds "value" to the inner party apparatus,
Policemen apparently do not...

Let's cut the bullshit....the police can't order the CPS security around...they work for CPS (unless an emergency in which case they will probably bail out with the students) but they really work for the principal..... the principal was anti-police (which we had both pro and then anti) and we were unwanted until shit hit the fan (which could have been avoided if the principal/staff communicated with us )or they wanted a certain student out....Teachers, counselors and staff loved to scream for the police, but we decided to make them do their jobs cause the P was so anti police and very liberal ...some teachers were so afraid to come to the police cause they knew he (P) would be out for revenge.....We were CIT trained and used to have yearly training but it stopped.. It won't work if everyone was not on the same page so the training needs to include CPS....Also the P was a TYRANT towards his staff and it burned him up that he couldn't control us too!...the little jags would also film police/fire events while the security just watched so you had to be careful...So much to say sorry for the rant! it was good for my family for awhile but with the last P so anti police im glad im gone! (parents and teachers were happy we were there....it was the P who wanted us gone)
