Nice New Police Station

This is just lovely - how much was it?
  • The new police station at O'hare just opened 1 week ago and we have had two major water issues. The first one was over the weekend when the roof was leaking and flooded the woman's locker room. The second one was just yesterday when third watch came in for roll call and found the all bathroom and floor drains along with the showers were backing up filling the station with raw sewage. Hallways to locker rooms along with the radio room, lockup and some side offices flooded with this disgusting black fowl water along with some brown logs, Only the best for CPD!!!
Well, it's way out at O'Hare, only serves 200 coppers or so, and won't be seen by 99.99% of the public or the media. Perfect place for shoddy workmanship and crooked contracting that can't even properly pitch a waste line.

017's parking lot sewers were not connected to the sewer lines. Our wagon man at the time, Tommy, name may have been changed to protect anonymity, removed the sewer covers and with trusty flash light in hand, determined that our lowest bidder contractor didn't bother hooking the drains to the city sewer lines. Fortunately, it is the lot to the east of the building where only some cops park and the public. That is until they sell it, it's for sale now and then, not only do people cut through the lot to get to the street behind the building, the public will be bouncing around with our personal cars and police vehicles on the south parking lot which will remain. Great security in these buildings. NOT. Any idea why a wagon man would be interested in a parking lot sewer? Because if we got any real amount of rain, the lot drained so slowly, ducks would hang out in the newly minted 017 lagoon.

Call the bosses in the Skilled Trades Office at O'Hare, a bunch of geniuses over there; on par with some of your award winning bosses.

If that fails, you can call the warehouse for some yellow rubber boots.

Not when 50% of the coppers assigned to the airports are phone calls while people without phone calls oftentimes spend many years languishing in districts loaded with lead, asbestos, disease-ridden homeless junkies camped out in the lobby and every imaginable hazard under the sun.

A veteran wouldn't be awake at midnight. LOL Also you are not a veteran when you have worked one or two years in a busy district. Look up the seniority list youngster most people there came on the job before you were born and have worked in busy districts. When you get the seniority you get to bid. Oh cmon guy, 10 year wonders? These wonder years keep getting longer, it was 2 year wonders, then 3, then I started seeing 4 and 5 year wonders. That seemed to hold for a little bit, and now 10 year wonders!? Jesus! Can someone tell me when the wonder years stop? Just a concerned 14 year wonder who doesn’t want to be a 15 year wonder.
In all seriousness, there should not be coppers with 10 years on at the airport. That spot should be for guys who did their time. Guys who (for whatever reason) do 20 years in a ghetto district and want to ride it out easy until the end, not a copper with 10 years who’s been clouted and never did an ounce of police work. Only 20+year wonders allowed at the airports.

The building likely was built and leased far back as 1970 and probably never leaked a bit for the past private sector lessee until the hasty City rehabbed it for CPD since they couldn’t find a paying tenant. If it were Walsh, a good structure would have taken at least 7 years to build out and there’d be working sump pump.
Was the old building still being overrun with feral cats?

Thought y’all could escape the big city, huh.
Everyone deserves a little decrepitude.
I think it took 011 some 10 years to start leaking, same with 025. 001 took about 3 years and HQ about a year which includes the sinking foundation.
And what’s this bidness’ about woman’s only locker room?
Where’s the neutrality?

But don’t worry none, it’s on the Aviation Budget coming from O’Hare Modernization Fund for the new Terminal 5.

Keep on complaining.
I hear K-Five still has some abandoned storage trailers stashed somewhere on the backfield for the blue shirts to use.
