Norman Livingston Kerr will start in the $130,000-per-year role Monday, officials said.
Originally from Jamaica, Kerr is a Chicago Public Schools graduate and former director of CeaseFire. He also worked at UCAN, a group that works with “15,000 at-risk children, youth and families across Illinois,” according to the organization.
At UCAN, Kerr led the organization’s community violence intervention efforts, the mayor’s office said.
Anyone have the casualty counts for the past few years that this guy was helping run CeaseFire? Maybe he can account for that million dollars or so that what's-his-name never told anyone where it went or how it was spent? And now without a single job cut, Groot has created a six-figure spot for someone who's failed - badly - at preventing violence.

Cease Fire Chicago (now called Cure Violence Chicago) had most of its funding cut in 2015 (during Sparklefart’s regime), probably because it was demonstrably NOT WORKING. So Groot’s new hire was probably unemployed - she could have hired him for half what she’s paying him.
Cease Fire / Cure Violence claim that the big jump in shootings in 2016 was due to their funding cut, but I notice that it’s been falling steadily even without their help. And the number of shootings didn’t change much during the time they were getting millions to help “the community” stop shooting each other.

Well said. Cease Fire is a joke. As is all it’s members. Most of them are still active gang members. I’ve processed hundreds through the courts for PCS, manufacturing and delivery, attempted murder, you name it. And they give their occupation as “violence interrupter.” Just another way the “community” has found to collect government funding for doing nothing.

When she was asked about her comment regarding the secret meeting, Groot was allegedly head saying, "You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't"? Yeah, "I don't have one of those".
The oddity that is currently holding the 5th floor office at City Hall will be scorned and bare the brunt of the death of a once great city. All this while the real evil, Tiny Dancer, who left the city in disgrace, was seen biking and tightly clutching his wedding dress and the Laquan McDonald video. He gleefully bicycle's around Lake Michigan laughing at the fool wearing the dunce cap on the 5th floor.
Andrew Holmes should be given that position. He is out there day and night acting as a friend of the police and community. Always on the scene and always a good word about the police. We need someone who will help us not hinder us.
GROOT cries about the budget, then forms a new position in government. UNFUCKENBELIEVEABLE!

To think he is showing addresses in Olympia Fields and Oak park, another member allowed by Lori to live outside the city? Lori "You make the rules then break the rules," are you really this delusional? Talk about hypocritical and 2 faced liar. How much staff,how many vehicles will the taxpayers be forced to pay? How much work did he do for Lori's campaign and how much contributed just axin?

In Clout City, where reform is sold like "snake oil", the Mayor always talks a righteous talk about following rules and fairness for all, except for the selected few who are "clouted". Little Lori once again is publicly showing her ass to the citizens. Her tough talk comes out of both sides of her mouth. City employees must follow the residency rules but not my people. They are special, therefore I clout them with special jobs and make up the rules as I go along.
There is nothing special politically speaking about Groot. She's just another Democratic slug who crawled out of the same hot sinking pile of manure that gave us Daley, Rahm, Foxx, Preckwinkle, Dart and Tim Evans. Lori is just another old junk of a car with an new "Earl Scheib" paint job - that of a reformer.
Tic toc, tic toc, we have a budget crisis. We have a hiring freeze to save money. Never mind.
