It was a total embarrassment to observe.
The Stupidintendent’s assembled crew looked tired and defeated. Some resembled children in church; eyes glazed over, a million miles away in totally unrelated thought, waiting to be nudged into the aisle to leave when mass was finally over. A hodgepodge of “approved uniforms”, many which looked like they were pulled from the trunks of cars and ironed with a house brick.
The only thing I could think of was coppers who still preach “you respect the rank, not the man”. I stopped adhering to this philosophy many years ago when I finally realized just how pervasively the upper ranks have been infiltrated by the undeserving. To me the rank means absolutely nothing when the person occupying it hasn’t an iota of legitimacy.
This was the most motley crew of gold star bossholes assembled in recent time, IMHO. It’s no wonder we’re a laughing stock when it comes to big city departments.

Now pay attention to Staples, (Chief of Det's. to the right of the Supt) at the 1:43 and 11:26 mark during certain points of his speech.
Was she sending a message?
A SCC observation coupled with some simple 'detective' work, and research reveals through a Google search of "Pulling on one's ear, Tugging one's ear during a speech, meeting etc. reveals, "disinterest, lying, intentionally blocking out information etc." just to name a few interpretations.
Was Staples intentionally sending a message of "BS" to the Supt's, speech or merely saying hello to Carol Burnett's grandmother?

I'm not a LEO, but a big supporter of the police. The pathetic display of human wallpaper behind him was most enlightening. I counted at least 4 different types of uniforms in various stages of dishevelment behind Great Leader Johnson. No organization by height. No attempt to appear supportive. One collar tucked under and the other collar not tucked at all. A VERRRY sloppy looking assemblage.
The man doing all the talking at the microphone could not even get all of his subordinates and sycophants to appear in the same clean uniform that hadn't been worn for several days. If he can't effectively organize a simple press appearance the he himself called how can he run an organization as complex as the CPD? The obvious answer is he cannot and he does not.

Former Mayor Rahm Emanuel removed 1,400 vacate Police positions off the payroll to balance the budget during his time in office. Under Former Richard Daley we were Budgeted at 13,500, Rahm eliminated 1,400 that puts us at 12,100. So, how is that the Supe and the current Mayor continue to report 13,400. Are they counting the non-police on the job that are replacing police officers under Civilianization or did they add those lost positions back to our budget or did Rahm lie to us. Maybe we can't handle the truth!!!

Not only no increase but they actually negotiated a decrease in their contribution to healthcare.
They still only contribute 2% to their pension unlike every other union that contributes the mandated 9%.
These prima donnas contract should act as the framework for any unions future negotiations with Groot and the city.

Go look it up in CLEAR. It is right there. And before you start the next bullshit rumor, they are only counted ONCE in CLEAR even if assigned to one unit and detailed to another.
FYI to numbnuts: if the “spineless” Sgt or Lt approached you about your work performance that means you’re not doing your job idiot. The next thing could be a SPAR or even a CR number depending on what you are doing wrong. Be thankful they brought it to your attention. Man-up (or Woman) and take the advice, straighten up your act.

Demoted from commander to Lt then promoted to chief. Unbelievable maybe a new career path to follow. In the military once you are demoted it sticks with you and tour career is finished
As usual, your assessment is way overblown, SCC. yes, it would have been nice if all of the command staff had worn their blouses for a more uniform appearance, but some wore the dept. authorized sweater, some went with the basic white shirt, while the Supt. wore his typical dress blouse. They didn't look bad, but he could have issued an order for all attending to be in their dress blouses. We all used to show up in such a manner whenever we stood with the Supt. back in my day. But what I saw didn't look bad, or unacceptable.
If you wanna see bad, go check in on a regular roll call in any district. See how lax the W/Cs have gotten in enforcing ANY uniform standards at all. Now THAT is completely unacceptable.
I was told, this is second hand, that all exempts were called an told to be down by Ed by 1300hrs to stand behind him in support. Some didn’t have time to even get there the rest ran ass as fast as possible to be there.
This is hilarious, I actually thought the exact same things when I saw the press conference. I instantly thought of Dave Chapelle when he had a skit on Prince and he challenged Charlie Murphy to a game of basketball and he said "assemble your crew" and then walks onto the court with his clown entourage. These are our leaders and the face of CPD and then they wonder why so many officers no longer care and those with 20 yrs are retiring. I'd like to see what we will be offered when contract negotiations come around?

Personally, I'd take Aunt Bee over Staples any day of the week. If you recall the episode where Bee ran an annex jail from Andy's house, she made inmates work. Even lazy Otis tried to escape and called it "the rock". So Bee would certainly be an asset, whereas the others are just grossly overfed do nothings. And just add up their salaries and how they got to where they are. Truly sickening.

If you're responding to calls in a timely manner and completing them properly, who gives a crap what he has to say. You don't like my activity? Put in writing how many tickets/stops you want. However, if you are doing things like showing up late, dodging jobs, treating citizens like crap, he might be telling you so you don't end up getting suspended/fired, or get ostracized by your fellow POs.
