- Chicago’s African American community will have trouble trusting CPD Supt. Eddie Johnson now that it’s known Johnson saw the Laquan McDonald shooting video before it was publicly released and was among the police brass who believed the shooting was justified.
That’s the bottom line from influential black aldermen, who urged Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Thursday to take Inspector General Joe Ferguson’s investigative report into consideration when she decides whether to permanently retain the superintendent she inherited.
Ferguson’s long-awaited report, released this week, placed Johnson, then a deputy chief, at a meeting of police brass held “on or around” Nov. 1, 2015.
Here's some more "bombshells:"

As a member of Chicago’s European American community I can say that my community certainly doesn’t trust Superintendent Johnson.
Why is only one person being held accountable for this mess? Many more should be criminally charged and fired without any benefits do to this incident. Only in Chicago.
First of all, it’s “Rountree”, not Roundtree. Second, it wasn’t her that advised Rahm to fight the release, it was Adam Collins, his press guy. And third, the McCarthy and other command staff were briefed at the next EMM, the purpose of which IS NOT to “approve” the shooting, but to be familiar with the circumstances. It was, and remains, only COPA’s (or IPRA, or OPS or whatever the next version will be) obligation to declare it a good shooting or not.
This is all old news everyone knew and the murder mayor and his command staff approved all of it. When shit hit the fan they got their sacrificial lamb and railroaded him. One other item that has always bothered me about this whole thing the reporter requested the video said boo about the command staff and murder mayor so maybe he’s not the hero they make him out to be. Johnson will not be removed as he has served his purpose. What Chicago needs is to bring in a strong leader from the LAPD, a department that seems to be way ahead of Chicago and a department that already been under a consent decree and from a town with a much lower violent crime rate. And, there promotion system seems to be fairer. They don't do " merit promotions".

The in-car camera video was downloaded while still ON-Scene. Command staff admitted to the OIG that they to viewed it from a laptop Immediately after arriving to the scene of the shooting. Don’t let the powers that be shift the blame to the POs / Detectives and Sgts.

Another way the city could save big $$$ and increase manpower is close all the district stations during the midnight shift. Most police stations in America aren’t open to the public during the night hours. All business is conducted during the day hours. Anything urgent the public obviously calls 911. Total waste to staff the desks during the midnight shift.

There are some moral and ethical issues the higher ups need to answer for but there does not appear to be any potential crime involved as it was for those directly involved like JVD and those officers who might have slanted their official reports to try to protect JVD.

It may very well effect the district special people. Not the number of them, but who they are. You see the special people displaced from downtown are more special than the special people in the districts. So when the more special people need a spot, the district regular special people will have to hit the street.

Saying he had no connection to VanDyke shooting. Never saw video for two weeks and never made any decisions as to shooting being justified?

If he is saying that he did not do his job for CPD or the citizens of Chicago. He was required to be in the review meeting and in all meetings relative to the shooting right after the incident.
