- Since being paroled in late August, an eight-time convicted drug dealer last month was arrested twice for selling narcotics in Chicago. Judges released him both times, once on electronic monitoring. Now, police say he escaped from the home monitoring program and last week robbed two people in the downtown area.
Four people called 911 last Wednesday evening to report that a similarly described man either robbed or tried to rob them in the Loop and West Loop neighborhoods. One woman reported that the man asked her for directions on the 500 block of South Jefferson and then threatened to kill her if she didn’t give him money around 5:15 p.m. The man left after she handed over a credit card, the woman said.
Another alleged victim flagged down police near the Greyhound bus terminal at 630 West Harrison after a man tried to rob them while implying that he was armed. Then, around 6:50 p.m., a woman reported that a man implied that he was armed as he robbed her at an ATM near Wells and Van Buren in the Loop. About ten minutes later, police who were searching the area found a man matching the offender’s description standing outside a convenience store across from City Hall on the 100 block of North LaSalle.
Multiple victims identified 31-year-old Devin Wilder as the man who either robbed or tried to rob them, police said.
What's the point of having a jail to hold criminals if no criminals are ever held there? We think Prickwrinkle and Dart could zero out a lot more of the jail budget in short order.

This poster is right on the money. States attorneys in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Cook County, all accepted campaign funding from George Soros. As much as it would be easy to blame the sheriff for this the responsibility lies squarely with Evans and the poor quality judges who don’t look at an offender’s record and act reasonably. A couple years back state law was changed to make the decision for EM eligibility solely that of the judge in the offenders case. The Sheriff or any of his staff no longer have any say who goes out. Historically EM was a release valve for overcrowding at the jail and a sheriffs supervisor would be able to release offenders but with a physical jail population of only around 7000 or so with 3000 or more on EM. The judiciary here has regularly released child sex offenders, murders, police fighters and other violent wastes of space who should NEVER see the light of day. Wish the people knew this was going on, sadly there will be a ton more stories like this.

SDI Security Inc., which is owned by former Ald. Patrick Huels (11th), filed a contribution lawsuit Monday in Cook County Circuit Court against the city of Chicago and Chicago police officers involved in the response to the shooting.
SDI’s suit claims responding officers failed to confront the shooter or prevent him from re-entering the hospital after the shooting in the parking lot and therefore are partially liable for any damages related to the shooting.
In the suit, SDI denies any liability for injuries in the shooting, but contends the city and police should have to contribute to the payment of any damages if a judgment is returned against SDI.
A spokesman for the city Law Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the suit.

SDI’s Huels is the former powerhouse alderman from Bridgeport who resigned in 1997 after the Sun-Times reported he got a $1.1 million loan from Michael Tadin, a perennial city trucking contractor.
Huels had helped Tadin get a $1.25 million city subsidy.
It was the first major scandal for then-Mayor Richard M. Daley — and it literally hit home.
Huels represented the 11th Ward, the Daley family’s ancestral home and political fiefdom, and also served as the mayor’s City Council floor leader making sure aldermen knew which way to vote.
The Tadin loan helped drive Huels into bankruptcy when he said he was unable to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of credit card bills to companies, including Nieman Marcus, Marshall Field’s and Brooks Brothers. At the time, Huels reported he was making $225,000-a-year as president of SDI, among other places, Comiskey Park. Most of his credit card debts were wiped out. Tadin, a major shareholder in SDI, had a $50,000 lien on Huels’ Bridgeport condo.
Now-indicted Ald. Edward Burke (14th) was also caught up in the Huels scandal.
A former Chicago police officer, Burke served as SDI’s licensee in charge, the company’s chief security professional, for five years and was corporate secretary for four years.
At the time, SDI President Michael Pedicone, who incorporated SDI in 1989 and ran the firm out of his Loop law office, was retained as a consultant both by the Burke-chaired City Council Finance Committee and by the Transportation Committee chaired by Huels. Yes, as an old timer it was standard practice to never accept a prisoner from anyone without searching that prisoner yourself. There were even times I would not let a non-prisoner into the back of my car without patting them down. There have been many incidents over the years that turned out badly. But, an officer can do only so much. They seem to be prohibited by the brass and lawyers from really doing a good search.
I now realize Shaved was spot on accurate about Dart.

Forgot Dallas, Tx. and San Francisco, Ca. It is the County Attorney General position in these cases, some jurisdictions may be for a metropolitan areas instead.
