WTF?

The is no fucking excuse for this:
  • There’d better be an exodus of 1 from O’Hare after an absolutely cowardly act Sun morning of a fellow officer standing and watching 2 co-workers fighting for their lives with a homeless maniac in which even the taser didn’t work. Useless Mr “Too Many Cameras” do the right thing and leave, you are a disgrace. FOP please please FOIA the video of this fool and insist on discipline. The bad guy guy TKO’D an innocent women just walking to catch an early flight and tried to kill 2 policeman all the while a 3rd PO...watched!
  • Get well wishes to the 2 injured CPD P.O.’S at O’Hare from the 10-1 with the HIV positive lunatic Sun. As for the 3rd Officer who stood by and watched and did NOTHING and told the Supervisors, that he didn’t because, “there were too many cameras” just leave. The big question is where is the CR# ?
Someone should be at Callback tomorrow awaiting 30 pending.

Too many people on the job like this. An incident like this just happened in 018 when two officers were trying to arrest a man who stood 6 foot and was 350 pounds. The man was to be arrested for VOOP and put up a fight with officers. Two officers who were working mass transit just stood around and watched as officers struggled to get cuffs on the individual and hands behind his back. The mass transit units also said that “people are recording” and continued to watch as more units from 018 showed up to assist the officers. Side note, the offender was shot by Chicago Police in 2 separate armed robbery incidents a few years prior to this arrest. What has this job come to when your own co-workers wont even back up their fellow teammates. Both events are completely embarrassing. Stay safe, back each other up and make it home.

Working for Sheriff Fart Dart at the jail. Never seen one officer written up or suspended for not backing a fellow officer. Seen it numerous times where inmate attacks an officer or another inmate. The cowards that sit on the sidelines never get in trouble. That's why the Sheriff is paying out millions in suits where inmates attack others on transport buses. The officers are afraid to jump in. One inmate was strangling another inmate on bus and the officer punched him to get him off. Dart fired that officer for trying to protect a weaker inmate. That pos Winters guy big wig lawyer in 399 amd on merit board signed off on firing. But there still is no excuse not to back another officer. But basically the unwritten rule at the jail is let the inmates fight it out cause the officers are being forced to observe and call for backup sometimes 20 minutes away. I always thought liberal policies protect inmates but in fact Darts hands off policy is getting weaker inmates targeted much more often than in the past

Hey SCC. Reading this post, I thought you were talking about me and my partner from a couple days ago!

Dispatched to a violation of order of protection, to see that a mass transit unit is on scene. Victim points out the offender who is over 350lbs. Partner and I approach offender attempting to detain him. Offender is uncooperative and an active resister. We attempt to handcuff him, while mass transit duo watches us fail to do so. Mass transit officer comfortably mentions "people are recording us." Thankfully for our SDSC room noticing that it's a 2v1 with 2 helpless officers, 02S sends more cars over, and we properly transport the offender to process.

Did anyone else see what’s stuffed in the middle of all the junk in the new CPS contract?? Well, it’s now MANDATORY that all CPS schools will have to teach the police torture class and Laquan McDonald class. The principals of schools were always able to use their discretion of what classes were taught. The classes were not being taught in “certain schools” in “certain neighborhoods” because the principals, especially the principals in higher achieving schools elected not to teach the class and have it in the curriculum. Well, now it’s changing because I’m the contract that discretion has been taken away as the classes must be taught in all schools with an independent CPS monitor sitting in on all the classes. The fact that certain schools taught this and other did not drive the CTU insane and they had this put in the contract which obviously the city didn’t care and agreed due to the fact that there were tons of other issues at hand. Remember ladies and gentlemen, when looking back on this contract and strike per CTU it was never about an agenda it was all about the kids.. well, this move proves otherwise. It’s all about show and it’s all about their liberal progressive agenda. It’s gonna be taught in 7th, 8th and junior and senior years of high school. Sickening.

11/18/2019 06:41:00 AM

Is this true?? I heard the same thing from a teacher friend after the contract was signed but didn’t hear anything else about it till now??? If true I’m out of CPS. My kid is only in 3rd grade I still have time to get out. This city is getting amazing.

If he’s got more than 25 years on and I was a supervisor I would advise him to retire within the next few weeks. If he elects to stay then tell him that they have no choice except to pull a CR number on him for a multitude of things. Listen, I get it that when guys get to the point of landing in a nice spot(airport) and on the final leg of your career with retirement close then there is no reason or will to get into any of this garbage. However, weather it’s your first day or last day on the job if something like described above jumps off then you have to take care of business. If he’s worried about getting physical because it might get on the news or might end up in a lawsuit well now you are just as involved in the lawsuit. The lawyer will say that your failure to intervene caused the arrestee damage because if you intervened he may have been apprehended quicker and with less force. They will also spin it that you didn’t intervene because you recognized the other two officers were using too much force and were doing something wrong.. then you held the “thin blue line” and didn’t report it. People thing “staying fetal” protects you from all. Sometimes it gets you into much much more than if you acted. Inaction many times is worse than taking action.. many people on this job don’t get that. The number one sustained CR number on CPD officers is failure to take police action and inattention to duty. To be fair I wasn’t there and don’t want to judge based on this post. Clearly both comments written by the same author but if it’s stretched and not entirely true then I apologize but if it’s all truth then it’s an issue.

I understand and agree that this non action is horrible. However this is all created by Rahm, Lightfoot, Police Board, Media, COPA and most importantly our EXEMPTS. These people don’t understand our jobs and cater to the small amount of people who dislike us. Officers from 1 year to 25 years don’t want to be the next news story. This officer could have got someone seriously hurt. But think about our department as a whole. There is a lot of hesitation in the decision making on the street. so is it stay fetal or not? cause you cant get any more fetal than that.

11/19/2019 10:32:00 AM

This is a disadvantage of the staying fetal mindset. You condition yourself to look the other way, not give effort, avoid any situation requiring force; and it works perfectly 99.99% of the time. I’m sure this officer thought his life would be easy here on out at O’Hare. So what happens when you are in a situation such as Sunday, when you just paralyzed with fear/cowardice/indecision? People get hurt.

Listen, I understand the mindset. I believe many here have suggested to remain fetal UNLESS it involves helping another LE officer. This is what I believe, and I would have thought most on this job did as well.

If you are afraid of doing the job and have the juice to get an inside spot, do it. Any interaction with the public, whether it’s O’Hare, mass transit, or even Marine unit, will at some point exploit you. The bullshit will always find you

Joined the Army back in the 70's as a military policeman. On one of my first shifts, the watch commander told all of us new guys that if one of us comes back with his ass kicked, his partner had better come back with his ass kicked as well. If not, he (the watch commander) would issue the beating himself. Made sense too.

Maybe you should learn some tactics and go back to the gym. The mass transit guys did exactly what security/cover officers are supposed to do during a struggle with your active resistor. Not every officer is supposed to join in the pile. He’s an active resistor not an assailant , they’re supposed to stand guard during that situation to ensure members of the comrunity don’t start jumping in and taking free swings at the police durning a struggle. . Way too many “police” out there that take this fetal thing too far. This doesn’t surprise me, read the comments on here. If a copper gets hurt or ends up in the hospital doing work, you’ll get a huge number of people just saying how stupid that cop is and fuck him and so forth. No “hope you’re okay, get well soon” nothing of that sort from lots of “police” A lot of “police” out here that don’t care about anyone if they do any kind of work, even if it’s signed complaints. Happened when the female copper got her head bashed in on Cicero as the 2 per usual useless “Sheriffs” stood and watch as the female copper struggled with the giant guy. Got to any shit district and watch the “police” on VRI on their fixed post sit and watch as coppers fight with someone. I’ve seen it plenty of times this isn’t unusual. This type of thing happens often, because fetal. I understand and I agree with fetal, but we take care of our own. We are supposed to. Too many wannnabee scary police out here that use the fetal thing as an excuse to cover they’ve been a softball do nothing their whole career. If another copper is fighting with dude in front of you, get your useless ass out of the car and go help. I hope these two coppers aren’t injured severely and won’t have any lasting effects. Go on IOD, enjoy your holiday off. To the “police officer” that just stood and watched because he’s a useless pile of dog shit, I hope you get to enjoy your holidays off too, involuntarily.

OT: GREG HINZ ON POLITICS
November 19, 2019 12:14 PM AN HOUR AGO
Chicago progressives push Lightfoot on another front: Police reform
After battles over affordable housing, a corporate head tax, tipped wages and other issues, activists suggest they want immediate action on revamping how the police superintendent is selected.

John R. Boehm
City Hall progressives today took another step in their sometimes awkward dance with Mayor Lori Lightfoot, turning up the heat a notch on their proposal to give elected community representatives a direct voice in selecting the city’s police superintendent.

At a City Hall press conference, members of the Grassroots Alliance for Police Accountability said they still believe Lightfoot supports their plan and that negotiations with her office to fine-tune language are going well. But they also indicated they’re growing impatient that their proposal, which was introduced by 29 aldermen in June, has not been called for a vote.

“Chicago can’t wait any longer. Our ordinance should be passed this year,” said alliance coordinator Desmon Yancy.

Yancy conceded that the lack of action so far this year means that Lightfoot may have the same powers as her predecessor in replacing Supt. Eddie Johnson, who recently submitted his resignation.

“We were very excited when Lori Lightfoot, before she was even running for mayor, publicly stated that she was in support of this proposal,” he added. “Now is the time to make (it) law.”

Under the latest version of the plan, voters would elect members of 22 neighborhood district councils, one for each of the city’s 22 police districts. The councils in turn would nominate members of a new commission that would have supervisory power over the superintendent and bodies such as the Police Board and Civilian Office of Police Accountability. The actual members would be selected from the nominees by the mayor but would have to be confirmed by a majority vote of the City Council. At least two would have to be between ages 18 and 24.

ADVERTISING

Like the current, unelected Police Board, the commission would submit three names to the mayor for superintendent vacancies. But the commission could not reject those names and select someone else, as former Mayor Rahm Emanuel did with Johnson. Instead, the commission would nominate three other people until the mayor finally selected one.

The commission also would be able by two-thirds vote to recommend the firing of a superintendent for cause. But the City Council would have the final say.

Lightfoot’s office had no comment on the press conference and the apparent jostling that’s behind it.

Glad this person never served with me or mine. This wasn't the projects, was a controlled access point. So if the over-sized dirtbag manages to take out your team mates while you watch, then what will you do if he is able to grab a weapon? Control the head, the body follows. In the sandbox we'd butt stroke the POS and return to security. CONUS less aggressive, but the same idea. Did you get off your desk cheeks long enough to figure that the fight could be over a helluva lot quicker that way? 30 seconds could make a difference. That same time could get your fellows hurt or worse.

In a word, or 2.. F**K off, Pogue

I hate to be That Guy but this sounds like the inevitable consequence of the ongoing vilification of law enforcement. Anyone thinking about getting involved in anything even remotely ambiguous is gonna have to consider whether the next 30 seconds will send them to jail forever, get their family death threats, become the face of the next shitty BLM fairy tale, etc. And the Van Dyke trial demonstrated that even if one's actions are deemed legit by the department now there's no guarantee that they won't move the goalposts at some point in the future if doing so profits the left wing demagogues.

The chilling effect is usually invoked in relation to copyright law and censorship, but it applies here too.

An active resistor like this doesn't mean he is a mental. He's a pos scumbag, violated a protection order, he doesn't want to go to jail. Many will fight when they see the cuffs coming out.

As far as the mental asylums that were closed, remember the amount of abuse in those places? I certainly do and I'm sure there was much more of it that was covered up by those in power. Also it was about costs, look at how much it costs to keep someone in patient for a mental health problem even for a brief time today. Many of the people loose would be okay, I mean able to function at least, if they took their meds. Instead they take illegal drugs or may go without their meds. Lots of homeless folks have both mental problems and are addicted to some illegal drug. And The left coast rewards their behaviors and the more they have spent in SF the worse the problems have gotten. And despite what docs say the states push to legalize pot, they don't care about the problems it will cause long term it's all about money and their hand in the till. Certainly there is not enough help for people with these kinds of problems but just look at the stigma of seeking treatment. Still there is the stigma that if needing mental health treatment the person is crazy. And some that are vets don't even know they can get help from the VA. The VA is pathetic but the person can get their meds that way. I helped a homeless guy see the VA and get on his meds. He thought you had to be in a war to be able to go to the VA. You are right though, politicians don't care at all, these folks don't usually vote nor do they donate to the scumbag lying politicians. So for many reasons they wouldn't think of opening new asylum type places. Hell, the dummycrats don't care about Americans at all, it's all about doing for the illegals.

And look at nursing homes today and the abuses patients face at these grossly overpriced places. A story from February, 2019, A man literally rotted to death and a number of other patients abused at the Whetstone Gardens and Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. What do you think would happen if they tried to open asylums again? Lots of money spent, wasted, as government is noted for doing and the places would have much the same problems as back in the old days. And there would be lawsuits over everything.

With regard to this coward, now it's excuses, excuses. I can't see just standing there is helping any if the fight is on. He certainly wasn't going to control the crowd anyway or likely even try if that is the reason he gives for doing nothing. He didn't want to be apart of any of it if sued or things went further south. Hardly one you could count on to have your back. I'd rather work alone than with a coward. Pair him with the female with the empty gun.

Widup not only winters were responsible for destroying so many lives on that Merit Board. Thank God the courts have reversed many of the firings of that board. They hurt many people, not just the men in blue, also the families. Many of their decisions were so egregious even liberal judges took the side of the dismissed officers.

Believe it. Some of these younger, newer dispatchers grill me with a million reasons and justification for calls of suspicious person (s) / auto (s) etc

Not the dispatchers, the calltakers. Apples and oranges.

Lol, I remember that old lady in 023 years ago was fired for cowardess (sp) The minds of the department decided to retrain her and she was back on the street. She was a total liability and everyone stayed away from her. Nobody backed her up unless it was assigned. Fuck these people.

11/19/2019 08:21:00 AM

She wasn't that old but was an absolute Hazard to work with.

She didn't get fired. Got a 2 year suspension. I don't know if it was knocked down to something less than that. Should have been demoted from detective back to patrolman. Interesting side note. Her hubby was either a sheriff or jail guard. Anyhow, he got into some sort of road rage incident on the way to work and shot and killed someone...and just went on to work. He ended up going to prison.

And she (JG) came back. Now in CMO at Area South.

======================================================
Capt. G and Billy K. (Now a Chief in a N/W burb) got that CR on her. When she got to the Area, she wanted to work homicide. Goes to a scene with us and refused to look at the body.Said "I know what a dead body look like."

Worse than the O'Hare or 018 incident, remember in 003 at the Dominicks, 71-Jeffrey, (same one where Det. Chickenshit left during the A/R) the shoplifter call. FTO, recruit, 1 just off probation with another recruit, and shoplifter pulls a gun. 1 recruit stands there crying (fired) and other 2 ran and hid while the FTO fought with the guy over the gun and finally killed him.

Ahh, dukes of “hazard” from 023, useless bitch let a copper fight for his life and refused to help. She should’ve stuck to baking cookies in the kitchen. After that incident, she could’ve fell into Lake Michigan and nobody would’ve helped her. City tried to fire her and couldn’t do it. She was a complete liability .

This is nothing unusual . I got hurt with 30 days left assisting my SGT, a guy with real balls, after some 6'6" drunk punched him in the face while two dog ass pussies just watched. One was an infamous pussy chased from airport to airport, unit to unit, for pussyness. The other pussy ducked the call. He didn't know I was watching when the drunk staggered into HIS terminal and he ran out when he saw him while sitting at that desk, going down on some bull shit paper job in the station even tho he probably can't even read or write. I predicted what was to follow.

He came back up after I was assigned the job thinking he was safe now from having to take a pen out. Luckily a SGT, the guy with real balls, came up to assist. So the SGT and I shove the guy all the way down to the L-tracks. Right before the train door closes the drunk punches the SGT in the face and now its... on. At least its "on" for the SGT and me cause the other two stood there with their thumbs up their ass's. I ended up getting hurt....again. With 30 days left on the job, injury and risk of CR# even tho the force used was reasonable. That means nothing nowdays.

The one pussy#2 even gave room service to the shit head in the cage and I saw him laying on the ground next to it using The Force to convince the guy he had nothing to do with the fact he got knocked on his ass by the two cop's after he punched a SGT of Police in the mouth. Fuck it! I put the pen down and went IOD and took care of my health.

And that was it. My Police days were over. There were no CR's, command would have killed them because both pussy's were merit's anyway and the SGT would have been chopped at the knee's as well.

I know, I know. Starting out with "years ago," takes away from the story. We were in the Task Force (No SO, as one victim screamed, oops I mean Offender,) A beat car called for the heavy weapons truck, so, since enquiring minds want to know, we slid over to the scene. For "a man with a knife." The street Deputy was literally jumping up and down at the requester, yelling about reasonable force, always bring a gun to a knife fight. He pointed out that both requesters were armed with revolvers, which the situation called for employment.

I heard one of the heroes say but boss, we didn't want to get in trouble. That was when it was time to slide out of that debate as the Deputy's face went from red to blue.

That broad was reinstated after a long absence and there was no mention of another previous incident in which she scooted on a fellow detective who was involved in a one car traffic accident. They were both on duty at the time. She took 5 days for that one.
Oh, on another note her husband was a Chicago State security guard enroute to work when he got into a traffic altercation on the Bishop Ford Xway and shot a killed the other driver. He got 20yrs for that one.
I guess it runs in the family.

I used to work at ohare when they had Special employment and I must say that they they have thier share of dogs , plain and simple dogs, these coppers would sit behind those kiosks reading newspapers and trying not to make eye contact with anyone fearing that they may have to engage with a traveler. I would be asked something by a traveler and not being familiar with things I would ask these PO's a question and they would say , Hey Sarge these people are a pain in the Ass. They need some young blood who can work because Ohare does have crime

I don’t blame that Officer. If he would have joined in on assisting, then he would get blamed for police brutality. De escalation.

So you think he should do nothing and let the other two take the brutality beef. You must be a prize to work with. Maybe when you are assigned a job and it goes south other officers will return the favor

Actually very little crime, thats why I went there after all those years. Damn! with 25+ years on no sane person wants to go anywhere with a lot of crime nowadays, or any day for that matter. There are actual coppers who paid their dues and finally got rewarded with winning a bid after 30 years and get to spend a year or two of relative peace at one of the airports. Yes there is the occasional white trash riot at the Spirit gate when a flight is canceled or a pilot drives the plane into a fence, or, the occasional mating dance of the morbidly obese at one of the kiosk gin joints. Or maybe a theft.

But crime? Hahahaha your kidding right? Sheltered youth perhaps?
