Nice Police Station Ed

Just three days ago, we posted about all the toilets in 005 were out of order. Guess what closed Monday? The entire lobby of the 005 District was shut down due to raw sewage seeping through the ceiling. We have a single picture of closed lobby, but we can't seem to upload it at the moment. We'll try again shortly.

Here's the picture finally.

So who's to blame for this? The Facilities Director retired abruptly a few months ago (Bonnie) and the guy currently running it is (A) not versed in actual facilities management and (B) hamstrung by backed-up work orders and other unions' work rules.

We don't know if this falls under "irony" or "epitome."

It falls on there the engineer. It’s his responsibility to put the work order in and determine if it’s emergency or not.
Someone in the building has the engineers number and it’s their responsibility to call him

No No No... you're looking at this wrong way. Gov. BJ (or what his name/job profession is) made this happen so the area would be uninhabitable to reduce property taxes... And if anyone has experience in reducing their own taxes so others would pay more it's the Hutt himself.

How much worse can this get??? No one who owns a home lets a problem fester. It just costs more the longer you wait to fix it. If the plumbing is so substandard, the building needs to be closed. These problems are not new. there have been stories of mold, foul odors, and leaky sewerage, and leaky roofs for my entire career. Garbage cans filling up in the hallways, and common areas. Cracked foundations, and toilets, and urinals completely out of order.
How the builders, and engineers of these facilities are not held accountable, I will never understand. I bet that the toilets at city hall work pretty well...

Poor facility management nothing new here. In the old 23 when it rained the sewers in the basement sometimes backed up flushing sewerage on the floor. At the old 11th and State the auto theft section had to move because of sewerage raining on the desks and computers from leaks in central detention.

I’m shocked at the neglect.
You have to maintain the seals and flush, flush, flush twice a day to keep the gaskets from drying out.
Never mind that the low bid contractors maybe didn’t set the proper drain pitch or overlooked some industry standard to couple pipes together, heck that was a long time ago.

Getting a plumber, electrician and a ceiling supervisor to come in and assess the situation will take time, we’re in holiday mode y’all.

No union plumber guy is going to fix/mend/patch that “leak” until a ceiling/paint/tile guy comes in, a ceiling guy is going to need a electrician guy to cut power at the breaker because of lighting fixtures in the vicinity, the electrician guy will need an electrical engineer to identify the circuit so the ceiling guy to take down proper acoustical panels to access the suspect leak.

In the meantime, the building custodian was summoned and will place a bucket and a yellow ¡Cuidado-Peligro! sign nearby as soon as possible.
Out houses are also being considered, but that too will take some time due to holiday schedules and requisitioning.

Sorry, but the 2FM engineers are rarely to be found in most of the stations at which I've worked. They can barely change the burnt out light bulbs and fix the constant plumbing and HVAC issues. And if it's a BIG issue, they sure as hell won't lift a finger--maybe you'll get a whole crew of city sycophants out several months later.

Many copper from the first district also have developed cancer what are you expect when you’re building something on an old junkyard with all the oil and everything else in the ground just like the place to go to build a new police academy it’s not fit to build on it’s a piece of land that nobody wants and that’s what they build the police stations and they get the contracts out to their friends at Walsh construction wash construction pays them off give the money back to them to put in their envelopes and it goes on and on they don’t care about the police officers or the firefighters

Apparently plumbing is not a priority at 2FM but if you are a bricklayer that’s friends with the Deputy Commissioner Ivan Hanson you get carte blanche overtime to tuck point and patch walls. Tell the building engineer to put the plumbing issues in as bricklayer emergencies and you might get something done.

New and old building housing police and fire are cancer clusters. Homan sq, it took 6 years, and the B and A guys died quickly from stage four cancers. Homan square boiler has every toxic
chemical are known to scientist/microbiologists and some unknown cancer-causing agents.
001 was a minority contract given to stooges who knew shit about construction. Given by who you ask? Walsh and Pepper construction.
CFD houses are the worse. Insulation was banned 50 years ago. They closed 012, 013 and other CPD stations, went empty and they are like new buildings, all for the children.
NYPD has the same issues. Stations full of leaded paint and other unknowns.
The CPD station across from Saint Ignatius killed many a fireman.
001 was not even open when the 3-foot cracks happened. Check Newberry Libary and see what was in the area for 150 years around 18th. and state street.
All you active guys, spend very little time in your station. Soil tests were never made and the bedrock is cracking away from all the toxin liquids there.
Most copper' in 70' and early 80' smoked. City is blaming that factor which is unfounded. The jets were built better then CPD and CFD buildings.
EPA washes their hands saying city buildings are exempt from any testing.
Good health to all you active blue shirts. God bless you all.

Everyone you’re blaming people that are long gone. The problem is now. City facilities are managed by 2FM and in charge are know it alls who don’t know anything. Ivan Hanson and Nina Cozzo are responsible. He put a thirty something in charge of trades who never worked a trade in her life. There are general foreman who know city code and know the job and know there men. I’d love to see her try and read a blueprint or spec out a job. Unless you are one of her rat kiss asses...a certain electrical foreman a certain bricklayer a certain laborer...she stonewalls and consistently denies emergency overtime. You MUST bow before her. She rigs interviews for promotions. She’s like a spoiled teenage girl and it’s embarrassing. People are leaving this department and they are so blind that they don’t realize they are the ones driving them away. The work doesn’t get done and things like this happen. Just ask the firemen who’s house lost heat over a weekend and she said wait until Monday. Her and Ivan set people up for failure. Where is the inspector general in all this? Where is the mayors office?

They’re all just mad they can’t screw off all day and then say they need overtime because she’s A lot smarter than they are. It’s actually comical that they have resorted to trolling a police blog because they’re not getting their way. Maybe if they spent more time doing their jobs (connected, clearly not qualified) they wouldn’t be so miserable. Just an idea!!!!

Don't confuse confidence with arrogance. Arrogance is being full of yourself, feeling you're always right, and believing your accomplishments or abilities make you better than other people. People often believe arrogance is excessive confidence, but it's really a lack of confidence. Arrogant people are insecure, and often repel others. Truly confident people feel good about themselves and attract others to them.

She couldn't help but bash the very people that go to work and try and make her look good everyday.
Clearly immature and a bit delusional but hey, I guess it is impressive she has 2 degrees, played at a flooring company with a quick stop at people's gas and with that she was able to bullshit the city that she had 12 years construction management experience. BAM!!

A quick Google search shows that she must obviously be counting all the years she walked around with her grandfather as a little girl visiting some sort of handyman jobs because 5 minutes with her and it is more than evident she is 100% clueless, nothing but a burden to the city and an obstruction to her department. 20 years and we have never had these kind of problems in our buildings.

Chicago Fire Department SLD st 31st Sacramento was moving into a new space And New offices we built including walls, electric, plumbing etc.

Well the great interior designer and MBA certified manager put a call in for HVAC with the only problem being that all the walls, drywall and office space is complete

Now the electricians have to return and move the lights for the Anchor Mechanical to rig in the heating an cooling since it was not properly thought out

It’s been close to a year and finally we are able to use our electronic keys to open the door as we have been prolong the door open

Nina

Don’t confuse education for intelligence there are two mutually exclusive things. Just because one does not have the means to get an education does not mean that they are not intelligent. Also, it is very ignorant to think educated people are intelligent, I know personally make people who had the means to stay in school to get a master that are far from intelligent.

Nina we will all clap when we are impressed! She promoted good old mikey cullinan and he married her for job security. He is a plasterer for the county.... she has no experience and is making a mess out of the city. She’s the ugliest person inside and out. That face is only a face a city work who needs jobs security can love. Sorry nina just bc you brag about jim getting you a job doesn’t mean you will keep it forever. So you alllowed 12-15 workers to work on the 4th floor and two tested positive for covid 19?!??
