Public Trans just snuck in 15 officers with 2 years on and assigned them to their unit. This is complete bullshit. This is why we have a union. DO SOMETHING!!! That is a bid unit. That would mean there would have to have been 60 biddable openings this year in order to be able to bring in 15 p/os via the 20% management option.
Anyone to verify? This would be pretty blatant if true. We would have bid for a unit that barely exists, except for who's running it.

I’m in a unit with a take home car, in the top 2% in unit seniority, routinely get in-house OT, been on the job long enough to get a day per month in each of the spec Emp programs, get whatever furlos I want, any DOH and my choice of watch. Using CU is never an issue and I have arguably the lowest stress spot on the job. Hooray for me and f#&k everyone else.
So some 2 year otj kids had a phone call that you don’t with a whole 8 yoj? quit your crying and get some time and whack on the job, kid.
Because Public Trans DOES NOTHING!
They want some officers there that will do something more than 1 ANOV a week.
Granted, there's a few down there that actual do something resembling "police work", but that's about 10 officers total.

It’s true. They asked officers fresh off probation who were down there on a detail if they wanted to stay, they could.
Off topic, “ The city-union deal means a 16% increase in pay over five years”. Another double digit pay increase for the teachers. Police and fire prepare for crumbs.
How about when they make a class of new sgts and they send some of them straight away to the beautiful northside districts. The ones that had no openings a week before, now miraculously they can accommodate certain brand new sgts while the rest of us are trying to claw our way out of south side districts. That’s unfair and yet it happens every single sgt class. Does our sgt union do a dam thing about it, NO! Pathetic how this city and police department is run. U got clout or know the right people that’s beats all resumes.

Regarding the person who demands the union do SOMETHING...I have a question. Did you file a grievance and let the FOP know about said situation? When was the last meeting you attended to air your apparent disdain for the FOPs lack of action? Did you at least call the FOP and inform them of this situation before bitching and moaning about them not doing anything about a situation they don't know about?

Yup true it is. They have 34 police officers with 2 years or less. And said police officers with one year or less come all recently assigned so mass transit. Go figure. So much for bidding into a unit.

Mass Transit has always been a sketchy unit. From the time I spent there as a young officer to later years talking about the unit to former unit members. I remember seeing no one in that unit in the field, ever, but the ones (new guys and temps) who were being relied on to do all the work. The commanders of that unit were always silent bosses, but heavy. I suspect they were just biding their time until their next big promotion. I'm not surprised to hear about this "personnel transfer". It has always been a place to "hide" and not get noticed. With the rise in crime on the CTA, I'll bet there is some pressure in that unit to now perform. We will know if the old timers in that unit begin to trickle out. Maybe the Good Times are no longer rolling there. They will probably head to the Airports. There, they will fit right in.
Haven’t seen this yet however do t hold your breath on help from the FOP. They are as useless and incompetent as special Ed and Lori. The only one I think who deserves to stay on with the fop is Vice President Murray. He seems to be the only one that stirs the pot and makes these asshole mayors / superintendent answer for their crimes.

Yup exactly why Lightfoot should have stood her ground and kept her word when she said none of the strike days would be made up. She could have made the teachers feel a little pain like they inflicted on the kids and parents that they claim to care about. Who gets back pay for walking off the job?

This explains everything I had a case I ask the officer what you in it he was in and he said mass transit I said what's the unit number and he did not know His partner had to tell when the was 701 I knew something was up then
Cindy Sams and Patricia Walsh (not her last name at the time)were both in our recruit class. If you had told us that they would both be exempts, we would have pissed our pants laughing. Actually odds were on those 2 not getting out of the academy or quitting within their first year. As one of our classmates said laughingly once, "It's all legit, kid."

It’s easy to point out what’s wrong with a situation but much more difficult to fix it . I do know it’s easier to accomplish your goals when you get along with people . Attacking each and every person you meet just doesn’t cut it ! But you don’t understand that ! Wise men don’t heed advice and fools don’t heed it .
