Officers Injured
- A Chicago police vehicle was involved in a crash Friday in Humboldt Park on the West Side. Officers were on their way to assist with a call about 4:45 p.m. in the 800 block of North Sacramento Boulevard with their lights and sirens activated, Chicago police said. Their SUV was struck by a Jeep that was westbound on Grand Avenue.
Two officers, men ages 48 and 28, were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police and Chicago Fire Department officials said. The 30-year-old woman driving the Jeep was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, also with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.
Police said the officers had the green light and the woman ignored a red light. No citations have been issued at this time, police said.

It's just in time to miss all the nye shot a thon festivities. why wasnt the woman in the jeep cited? Hhmmm ghost of johnson's friends and family discount? Or did she call 911 and this is her call in prize? (We're a tough lot on this blog.) Merry christmas to her from the groot, chimesha and all the hood.
Maybe if we actually enforced.the traffic laws. Oh wait, if we do.that and issue tickets we are picking on poor people.

Saw the crash...it didn't look like the civilian car hit the SUV....the SUV t-boned the civilian car. I was worried at the condition of the SUV -- entire front end smashed. Glad to hear POs and civilian okay...people can be jacka$$es...unfortunately, this one ran a red light/didn't yield to emergency vehicles. I hope she is ticketed!
Well boys and girls, you know just because you have your lights and siren activated you must still proceed with caution and you really have to look at the point of impact to see who hit who. Sorry to be Monday morning quarterbacking but this is what her lawyer will be asking g.

That particular intersection (Grand & Sacramento) was NEVER Fillmore**.
It used to belong to 013. Now it’s 012’s.
** “Fillmore” hasn’t existed since 1977-78 when HARRISON became the district name ... long before you came on the job, kid. Hell, probably before you were even hatched. There’s no such thing as a ’Fillmore Ranger’ since then unless they came over from Fillmore and Pulaski to Harrison and Kedzie (Paul W. & John M. - the original 1105 - come to mind) when the new 011th district building opened. And I know for a fact there are no more original Fillmore guys still on the job.
So do all of us a favor and throw away those stupid FILLMORE RANGER hoodies. You look almost as big a tool as that 2 year wonder in 022 throwing himself a party for being on the paper for 200 arrests. And taking selfies while working out. And taking more selfie‘s while in uniform holding his gun. And taking more selfie‘s while covered in ”bling”. And taking more selfie‘s with his Dodge Challenger and kid. And more selfies at his first St. Jude. And more selfies doing Pilates and yoga in 022’s lockup.

Judging from this, apparently so. But unlike when you enter a intersection facing a red, and using the lights and siren, where they only request the right of way, when you have a greenlight, you truly have the right of way.
To all my brothers and sisters in blue, when these incumbent clowns at FOP come out to our roll calls ask them who voted themselves a raise in the middle of their term.
When my lights and sirens are activated,I always slow down at ALL intersections,and at times I stop,then I proceed cautiously.

THAT IS WHY we slow the fuck down at green lights and stop at all red lights and make sure that all lanes are stopped, not an open lane for some jagoff to blow through. Protect yourself and your family..Whether it is your fault or not, getting fucking crippled or having neck/back/knee problems for the next 50 years is not worth it. Neither is killing someone because you were going to some BS job.
All who argue and do this stuff. Please do a test. Drive like you normally do to a job..Then slow down/stop and clear each intersection like the law and directives tell you to. Take note of times. I will bet you your retro check you will still make it there in time and if you crash you wont.....And the difference in 30 seconds is worth the wait for the officer if you never got there....

If you are accelerating from a near stop at an intersection you can hit the brake and stop the car a heel of a lot more quickly that at 20 or 30 mph. So when you see the goof who is going through the red light your chances of stopping to avoid the accident increase dramatically form a slower speed. Like the one previous poster, do you want neck/back problems for the next 50 years? You do no good if you don't get to the call. Peiod.
If the traffic divisions safety review board looks at all the department vehicle accidents occurring in the last 5 years I just bet that the member driving has no time on this job. Our new breed police drive like idiots because they can now that they are the police. I see them zipping around in thier little imports off duty and with thier big pickups. Off track but has anyone on the northwest side observed the black pickup truck that has a CPD star on the sides, it that ghost shadow crap that you only see at night and when the lights hit a certain way. A nut case copper fir sure. And what is with these blue dash lights on the Lyft and uber cars?

Slow down at the intersection even if you have the green.....there may be 2 year wonder blasting through the red coming the other way.

You must be one of his brain-washed PPO’s if you really believe this statement. The officer driving is a goofball FTO who has no business being an FTO. Not only is he clueless and always calling for a supervisor, but he always gets himself into situations he can’t handle and then screams on the radio for help. If he has used some common sense and not been flying to a bullshit call, he wouldn’t have got his PPO hurt. Speeding to a bullshit call, going over 80mph is a stupid move but not surprised coming from this moron, who then failed to clear the intersection.
