Proactive police work will get you in trouble - and the Department doesn't have your back:
- A second Chicago police officer who was involved in a body-slamming of 29-year-old Bernard Kersh has been relieved of his police powers after the Thanksgiving incident in the Chatham neighborhood, officials said.
“Today the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) recommended another Chicago Police Department officer involved in the incident at 79th & Cottage Grove on November 28, 2019 be relieved of police powers to which the Department has concurred,’’ said a written statement from COPA spokesman Ephraim Eaddy.
The usual people (and folks) are upset:
- Activists at the hearing said the incident was part of a continued pattern of police brutality against African Americans, while a police union representative complained that concern for the safety of police officers was being overlooked.
Because everyone knows that police are supposed to stand there and get licked before receiving the US Recommended Daily Allowance of spit in their mouths and eyes.

We've been going through this for a few years now.
Respond to your calls, write paper, back up like-minded officers when necessary and that that's it. Nothing else. So simple.
I don't even write parkers anymore, unless it's in response to a call.
Interesting because the other officer was on the other side of the squad, looking forward to the details why he was stripped. I have no problem with what the officer did in taking down an asshole that just spit in his face, my question is, what would be going to far when a pos spits in your face? Especially in this city with a pandering mayor and a agenda driven COPA.
Why does the super cop Gangs Unit where this guy was assigned operate without body cameras while the rest of us need to wear them?

The nope was already slammed by the time the second cop made it around the car.
Two years ago, there was a guy stalking and threatening Lori Lightfoot when she was the President of the police Board. He went to her house. She wanted the department to take all measures in protecting her; this included body slamming the mope if necessary. The report is marked confidential so you may not be able to see it in Chris. EJ kept things quiet and that’s why she kept him in the first place.
The pattern continues.
This right here is another tip and clue from the City of Chicago that they DO NOT want anyone to do proactive police work. For you young guys and girls that think that you should be out here engaging members of the “community” and doing police work you are dead wrong. The only thing proactive police work will do to you is end your career and possibly get you fired or arrested. Fuck this city , fuck these bosses and fuck the “community”. Only answer your calls , cut paper if needed. Staying fetal means staying employed.
I just hope the officers got tested for diseases related to the spitting incident. Hepatitis, AIDS, tuberculosis etc. all come to mind. Any person in his right mind would have acted as the officers did.

some years ago I had a long conversation with some officers from LAPD. What they told me about their discipline process was pretty revealing. It is far tougher then the CPD. I don't know why they stripped the 2nd officer, that surely does not seem fair.

These " quality of life offenses" are not even prosecuted in most cities on the West Coast. Yes, it is illegal in California to use paper straws or smoke tobacco within 10 feet of a building entrance or on their mass transit, but OK to smoke weed and take a dump on the street. It is coming to Chicago in increments. Drive by these type of offenses. If things go wrong you will be on your own. These two officers in the body slam incident face either a long suspension of dismissal.
Well something was needed to distract from groot’s embarrassment from the Fathead debacle.
I don't feel bad for these kids anymore...they've been told over and over and over and over. Now you see this officer was stripped for putting this piece of shit in the car after the incident. Putting him in the car got this officer stripped! Do not engage certain members of certain communities. Let them sort things out themselves...no one cares if we are spit on, licked, punched, shot, stabbed, lit on fire, etc etc...they only care about jamming us up as much as they can. I hope that DOPW stop was worth it for your tac sgt.

On the plus side ... Concealed Carry permits topped 300,000 this year (giving Little Tommy Dart an upset stomach) and private citizens aren't under the eye and thumb of COPA or Groot, as we've seen over the past few weeks.
NYPD PBA would be all over the press with this if it happened there.
My wings were clipped after my second lawsuit for doing "my job". I tell all the new guys..."It doesn't matter what the Law says, It doesn't matter what our orders say... ALL that matters is what a JURY will rule" You will get sued for doing your job, for following orders & the law, when it gets to a jury decision you have a 50/50 chance of being ruined. Seeing what my jury was made of in my lawsuit and the resulting verdict pretty much put an end to my career as a P.O. I stumble through the rest of my days just trying not to be the next headline, not getting fired or sued again, counting the years and months until I can slip into retirement as far under the radar as possible. Lawyers, ghetto activists, politicians, everyone who goes after police... You have won. They say "The people get the government they deserve" Well, the same goes for the police... The people get the same police service I think they deserve...If I can be fired, imprisoned, lose everything I have for doing my "Job" then I will be providing as minimal service as I can until I can fade away from this career that has become a nightmare.

Only way they could get second officer is by what he wrote on his report. He was no where near the incident and could have done anything other than what he did
