CTA Detail

So we have the "Window Detail" over Christmas, where Probationary Police Officers are sent to Michigan Avenue over the holidays to provide a visible presence of "security" to assuage nervous tourists who might otherwise decide to stay home, shop online or :::gasp::: spend money in the far-safer suburbs.

Now we are going to have a "Tube Detail" to cover current failures in charge of Mass Transit:
  • The Chicago police department is preparing to deploy a temporary task force to address crime on the CTA’s elevated train system. News of the plan emerged hours after CWBChicago yesterday reported that CPD and CTA leaders were preparing significant changes in the way the two agencies address rail safety.

“I want to put cops on dots,” CTA Vice President of Security Kevin Ryan told CWBChicago this week, referring to L stations that are represented by dots on the transit system’s maps.

The police department seems to be moving in Ryan’s direction with the patrol surge, which will run from March 5 to Memorial Day. Two or three officers will be pulled from each of the city’s 22 police districts to staff the mobile patrol unit for about eight hours each evening, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.
Golly, is that Iron Mike? Must be nice to get such a soft landing.

And Albany Park residents - remember those ten cops you were promised to alleviate shortages? It just became seven. The Amazing Shrinking Manpower solution.

They will just push crime somewhere else. Criminals go out to commit crimes. Just because Chicago CTA becomes a Police State doesn’t mean criminals will stay home and not commit crimes.

Ryan who used to be a former police officer wants to put officer's in the tunnels of those subways, which would put every officer's life at risk. Rumor is that Kevin already wore out his welcome at CTA, so Kevin sit in a corner and be quiet. I do not think CTA or City Hall would like a lawsuit of the family of an officer who gets hit by a train in those tunnels.

Dump the entire transit unit. Every single one. And the revamp it into a real unit that will actually handle transit problems. These transit guys now? The sit upstairs in their cars, and if something happens on the CTA, it gets dumped off on the beat car while they sit there dumbfounded. Beat cars, the bottom of the shit hill. Get rid of every one of the useless transit coppers and bosses.

So, pile more coppers onto an already dysfunctional Mass Transit unit, and don't fix what's wrong...Appoint more merit hacks, after you tell us merit is "suspended" Why does the city always do everything that shouldn't be done, and nothing that should be done? Did you think we weren't watching?
Littlefoot, and Beck...It is fun to watch you play "Whack a Mole"...it's obvious to the casual observer that you guy's don't have a clue. But people are dying here...and the police are talking about being fetal on a public blog. That SHOULD tell you something.
I have NO faith you two will fix anything. Crime will rise and you will still say it's down overall. It's also Tom Dart's, Crimesha's and the C.C. judges fault too, but you are part of the perfect storm. I don't blame the police for acting fetal, they are weathering this crap storm in any safe harbor nowadays. Cook County has become "Shangri-La" for the criminals...
I am predicting at least another four years of stormy weather...

Taking CTA to/from O'Hare is a GROSS EXPERIENCE. Train cars smell of urine, the riders are a mix of airport-related travelers, homeless folks, and sketchy-looking guys eyeballing the other riders. Coupled with the GROSSNESS of Terminal Five arrival area, past customs control, being herded on to those GROSS BUSES by sloppily-dressed, text-messaging, and often quite rude connected folks who get "do nothing" jobs here at airport, to reach a filthy O'Hare Station where it costs a $5 premium to endure a 3rd-world subway ride to downtown. Welcome tourists! Welcome business executives! Welcome to the Banana Republic of Chicago!

It's the 3 lowest in seniority from each district for 3 months. They plan to drop some numbers by that time and sneak the detailed officers back to the district. Its their typical smoke and mirror solution for imagery. Set up an occpational army for short term deployment. Knowing that manpower can't be sustained, it's just a move to temporarily ease the carnage so it looks better, and then pull the manpower to see if the rats stay away from the decayed carcass. They won't, but that's all these imbicil politicians and political ass kisser bosses know. What a sham; what a shame. We could be so much better. Arrest, detain, incarcerate and reform to prevent recidivism while the incarceration process is active. Release only those proven to have reformed, extend and repeat the process for the inmates who are incorrigible or defiant. Try it!

What are you talking about? A lawsuit against CTA and the city. All large cities with public transportation and el trains have transit police. New York’s transit unit is huge.
Maybe CTA and the city should close the subways for fear that one of those 10’s of thousands of daily riders might get hit

It's impossible to police now. There can be no force used until all de-escalation is utilized. That means back up and call for CIT response and establish a perimeter. The general orders have created lawlessness in Chicago.

Temporary police for a permanent non-stop violent feral predator problem.

Ryan came up with that idea?
Is he the Downtown is Safe™️ guy?
Same guy who had SpecialEd approve of ushering packs of disruptive feral youth back onto the S/B Red Line for free?

The shakey dude is a civilian that can’t even get his agency to provide timely (multi dollar H-D camera system) images so the CookmCounty States Attorney KmmmFxxxx can laugh and say “that all you got”?

Cops on Dots™️ a straight time redeployment by seniority (admin house mice are spared) that unarmed recruit probationaries will have to endure the full extended reach of el’COPA too.
Zero tolerance, arrest on sight and which Sgts are going along with the redeployed Cops On Dots, the 701’s or Districts ?

Question: Does CTA Management have a decent pension fund?

Hey sport, your assessment is a little off. Mass Transit officers for the most part do not get cars. Only 2 for fixed posts through out the city. Aside from crime being down before the upticked uptick, did CTA experience the same lull?
Has 701 Mass Transit and it’s management team been that successful, enough to continue its existence?

Fare increases, gubmint grants, remodels, extensions, flyovers and lets not forget that Rahm’s multimillion dollar outfitting of hundreds of high definition cameras. All that and still plenty of crime all hours of the day and night. Arrest all you want, make the boss happy, shit canned in all Cook Co Courts and COPA still gets a notification.
Folks are getting scared. Has ridership dropped?
LightLoafer stomping around for answers like a hog looking for truffles. Ain’t none here, ain’t none there.

Enter Cops on Dots. A reactionary deployment that’s all about making the voting public feel safe.
Never mind the new deployment was approved by our merit eggheads on the behest of a non law enforcement agency.
Wait you ask, isn’t that’s what 701 MTU is suppose to do?
Straight time tour o’duty, drive all the way down to 001 in the uniform of the day, fully equipped with this and that, standup roll calls without even a locker, all the way through Memorial Day. Nice to have those early furloughs for once huh?
Pancake batter for brains.

But it’s the Chicago reactionary way like another hot button issue LightLoafer has in Chinatown where folks refuse to head out to. No mention that it was the recent site of a horrific double homicide by a Cook County violent repeat offender.
So in response to slow business, another City reaction, LL sent out her stooge commissioner from Chicago Department of Public Health to assure the public about the Coronavirus, not the roaming violent feral. “Please do not allow stigma, xenophobia or fear to control your decisions,”. There no need to worry about the flu. It’s safe in Chinatown and take the CTA too !

I remember someone saying downtown was safe, that the CTA was safe, that crime is down.
Where are these liars?

For what it’s worth, the only Lts currently assigned to PTS earned their promotions, by score, without any noble assistance. I also heard there is a push to bring in a couple others who did the same (they only have two Lts working there).

What that unit needs is MANPOWER - not officers looking to save the world, but just officers willing to do their damn job - even if the bare minimum. If we got that out of them - might be a slightly different situation.
