- A little less than a year after he walked out of a Cook County courthouse seemingly never to return, Jussie Smollett again faces criminal charges as a special prosecutor Tuesday announced a new indictment accusing the former “Empire” star of faking a 2019 hate crime attack.
The new indictment brought by Special Prosecutor Dan Webb — and a three-page statement that rebukes Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s decision last year to dismiss charges against Smollett — land about a month from a Democratic primary in which Foxx is fighting to win a second term.
The charges almost certainly will vault Smollett’s case — which involves six counts that are the lowest level of felony offenses in state law — back into national headlines.
Foxx’s office accused former federal prosecutor Webb of roiling the political waters in “James Comey-like” timing, invoking the former FBI director’s decision to announce an investigation of then-candidate Hillary Clinton’s emails ahead of the 2016 presidential election. The state’s attorney’s office also issued a brief statement.
We're actually surprised Webb didn't bury this until after the primary. What does he know that we haven't heard yet?
- Are there some internal numbers that hint Crimesha is in a weak spot?
- Or is this meant to drive supporters to the polls since a pasty white Special Prosecutor is picking on Crimesha?

This qualifies as news? This clown is not the worst thing on our plates and this Crimnesha has to go, but hey, let's run a couple of people that can't possibly win and split the anti Crimesha vote. Webb released the news now because the all powerful and all knowing want Crimesha to be organically ousted by the voters instead of having blood on their hands. Why? They do not want to see an indictment against a democrat, sitting state's attorney. It is better if she is an ex-state's attorney when the indictment comes down.
How about this: if she just handled it with integrity the first time through, she wouldn’t have to be concerned with the “timing” of things.
At the tribune panel a few weeks ago, she continuously relied on the line “I cannot comment on that out if respect for the open special prosecutors investigation.” When you put it in the hands of a special prosecutor, you don’t get to determine his timeline.
I think Kimesha might be in hot water if Webb chose to re-indict.
Between the double murder of the Asians in Chinatown by a “justice involved” individual, and Webb’s potential findings- she’s got problems.
Would be nice if Fioretti would just drop out of the election instead of unnecessarily splitting the vote in a loser of a campaign.
Would be even nicer if Foxx is found to have obstructed justice, and somehow finds herself being disbarred.
Cabrini is gone, but I’m sure we can line her up with suitable accommodations in Wentworth Gardens or Altgeld Gardens if she would like to move back in with her “commenerty” that she has so much in common with.

Could this be a brilliant political move by the Democrat political structure to garner sympathy for Foxx? Why announce at this time instead of after the primary. Foxx has been criticized by law enforcement for her lack of engaging in criminal prosecutions for what she was elected for and getting paid for. Her conduct seems to indicate she should hold the Cook County Public Defender’s position instead. She is part of the Democrat progressive/socialist movement that is rapidly sweeping the country to radically change this country while the voters are snoozing. Look at the video with all the reverends supporting her reelection, now they can say she is also being smeared by the reopening of this case. But don’t forget everybody here is a Democrat. I can see the narrative coming that Trump called for this! Even if Smollett was convicted what would he get, supervision or probation at the worst. And of Foxx, a reprimand for dropping the ball and not being more transparent? And how did that Webb investigation work out for Vanecko?

I vote republican but we have to be smart on this and ask for a democratic ballot when the elections come out. The reason for this is, obviously, to elect a Democratic candidate not named Kimm Foxx. We need to all be on the same page here and can’t split our votes between Bill Conway and Bob Fioretti, further, increasing her changing of getting on the final ballot.
Can you please share your “endorsement,” per se, of who you recommend we vote for to get enough votes to keep her off? This really needs to happen and in solidarity. The Dems have played the elections too well for too long and adding that one extra candidate always splits the vote enough to get the person they want in. Let’s stand strong and decide on who to punch for the primary to get that incompetent fool off the ballot.

You're being really rude to Webb. He has a reputation of fighting corruption. He took a job either nobody else wanted, or could afford to do. He got Smollett re-indicted in a city and county known to be thoroughly riddled with Social Justice Warriors. His letter clearly points out issues with Foxx and Magats statements and actions. Nobody bought Webb. He's not running for office. He holds a lucrative private-sector job now. He could care less about playing politics, and sees the Smollett/Foxx/Magats case as a high-profile, low-risk way to cement his reputation. Webb doesn't walk on water, and he doesn't have to. One indictment, with conviction by trial or plea-bargained to at least 1 felony charge with jail time for Smollett on the way. Then it will be Foxx and Magat's turn for Official Misconduct. Bank on it. Webb's in the driver's seat, not the Machine.
Foxx is actually running against President Trump and the NRA. Just listen to her political TV ads and her statement about Jussie. She mentions nothing about the record of her office or about criminals that she has reduced charges on or were released because of her policies.

There was a major counter-measure that was instituted after the Anthrax attacks in DC and elsewhere. The government built a facility in Ohio to destroy any Anthrax in letters. All correspondence, every letter, every package, is sent to Ohio to get blasted with radiation before it is delivered. This costs us a whole lot of money. It delays all letters. It screws taxpayers. It really screws Veterans and people waiting on "the check in the mail".

Unless Fioretti and More drop out, Foxx wins. If they don't drop out, you'll have to vote for one candidate. Conway seems the way to go, although I didn't like his new campaign commercial which seems to mimic Foxx' anti-BRA, anti-Trump rhetoric.

Webb was also prosecuted unfairly another cop who I knew when I was a child in the 70's. Most upstanding man that I knew (besides my dad and brothers) and may he RIP. I don't trust Webb. Perhaps he is trying to redeem himself--or let's hope so.

Give it a rest. If you knew the law then you’d know that the Vanecko case was never going to be charged let alone a successful conviction. The elements just weren’t there. This was a fight plain and simple. Tragic. Same cases happen dozens of times across the country with the same results.
