FOP Ballots Arriving
We've been rather heavy handed in the comments as a number of candidates, their tickets and their supporters have been using our comment section as a free-for-all. We got plenty sick of it and supposedly, the moderators at a number of social media pages banned members from posting because of all the dirty tricks.
We'll be voting for a number of independents, rather than slates, due to our disgust of the process. We especially don't want any of the Martwick supporters holding office (you can get their names over at this post from earlier in January) seeing as how Martwick is a political ally/supporter of former alderscumbag Arena, who falsely filed or casued to be filed, thirty-one false accusations against our brothers and sisters. That is an unforgivable sin.
Vote boys and girls. The envelope is already paid for. Fill it out and mail it in.

He said no to the city on all their demands so now we’re heading to arbitration, which is really the only choice and best choice. I don’t think it’s a good idea to switch leadership right when arbitration gets going. I’ll give him one more term and see what happens. He’s also been on tv defending us more than anyone I’ve ever seen and he had the guts to meet Trump while Johnson embarrassed us. Definitely saying no to Mark Donahue. Sick of him!

To all the people wanting votes, when you come to roll calls saying “I don’t know “ to questions u should know , odds are your not getting our votes. If your already in the FOP and u want to be re elected, shouldn’t u know at least what’s been asked for or offered to the city? I think the issues of the consent decree hold much bigger weight and has/could do more damage to our members than a single political endorsement?

Martwick is a liar who's pretending to disassociate himself from Arena in his state senator's race. His henchman Feller is as bad.
What does the union do for us anyway? Aren’t we afforded the same representation of union services without paying dues? The union can’t even bring the city to the table to negotiate, and there doesn’t seem to be any indication of an end in sight. Now, I’m not necessarily complaining, but I’m just hoping whatever administration is handling this contract negotiation doesn’t negotiate away our retro checks like the last administration.
Now, I’ve been sued a handful of times, and been down to IAD maybe twice in my career. So, I’ve only had to call the union maybe 2 times, only to be talked to like I was an asshole inconveniencing whoever I talked to. Now, it’s election time, and looking at the ballot, it’s always the same people saying the same shit. This is it. I’m done after this election. If this union doesn’t pull their collective heads out of their ass and become more vocal with its dealings of the contract, then I can use the money I pay towards dues for something better. I’ll end as I started, What does the union do for us anyway??
The only thing worth voting for is the replacement of FOP with a real Union that would work for Officers not their own bottom line.

I voted for Preib. It was a no brainer. Graham's too soft. Cantazara has spent half his career on the medical roll. Casiano proved when he was up there working he was incompetent. Seiser rules, but President? Seriously, Preib has worked hard for us and I believe he will continue as President.
All the mud slinging in this election has been awful. The real eye opener is how nasty the folks who already have positions at FOP will go to protect their spots. It may have worked last election, but you can’t blame other people for the problems of the Union when it all happened on your watch. I don’t care who is running with who, you all let the membership down with your petty infighting and letting your obsession with keeping your spots supersede the needs of the police officers. Clearly, all of you that have any say in our union have been asleep at the wheel. I’m voting independent on most positions to put an end to this self serving nonsense. I truly hope guys like Preib, Graham, Bartlett, Murray, Tamllo, Bella, Auglair, Caps, dimaria, Donahue and the rest of the goofs are put out to pasture.
Donahue is running the Preib ticket. All of the people who voted for Martwick and voted themselves a raise are on that ticket. To our older guys none of the retirees on Cantazara's ticket voted for either Martwick or the mid term raise. Preib got booed at our North side luncheon last week when he mentioned Donahue. Seiser, Casino, and Graham have zero chance of being elected. If you vote for Preib your voting for Donahue. Even Lightfoot knows the rank and file are voting for Cantazsra. She has already agreed to a meeting with him after the election. She does even return Graham's calla or any of the other "clowns" at fop now.
Does it really matter?
Whomever gets in office just does the same as the last. ❌

don’t vote for retired. CPD is changing. Along with CPD changing, the mindset has to change. This should be the last election with anyone over 20-25 years gets considered. It’s time to officially retire the retired guys currently in there. Nothing against them, but their time should be up. The age of 25+ year guy who had it nice and cozy his whole career and now sits at the table at the FOP should be over. The retirees should not have a vote in active police elections. A board of active and retired police who vote on retiree issues should be considered.
Next election will be different. New blood and mindset. Watch out because New roots within the FOP are already starting to be established. Younger guys (compared to the retirees) have already held positions for 6+ years, and they’re on the ticket again. And the cycle will repeat itself and we’ll end up in the same situation we are in now.
Whatever you do !! Reject Donahue and his puppets ! The guy is a human leach for my 23 years on he has been in sucking the union dry . Send him packing. Vision2020

I too voted for Graham, however I did not vote for those blood sucking leeches on Marty Prieb's ticket or all those retired do nothing guys that are seeking to be re-elected. Not sure about Kevin, but he did meet Trump at the plane and was at the White house, unlike our pathetic mayor who disrespected the President and the citizens of this sinking city! Lori funny how you were raving about attending the impeachment hearings,and you see how your people the democrats lied and Trump won again for the good people. But then again you realize President Trump holds all the cards,and you went to the state of the union address but made rude comments "if he says anything bad about Chicago I will publicly walk out!" As a recent (June '19) retiree I obviously haven't heard what the candidates are saying at roll call. Who should I trust for decent recommendations? And don't tell me I should have gone to the Lodge meetings as I can't make them due to work.
It has come to my attention that the current FOP administration chose to employ Aguilar and Donahue as employees instead of contract gig workers. Those two are thus eligible for unemployment benefits which the lodge would then be on the hook for in the form of an increased unemployment compensation rate toward all employee salaries. If you vote for Graham or Prieb you are voting for the swamp.
Drain the FOP swamp.
God forbid I tell you about another candidate that has charisma and brass balls thiiiiiis big. I'd then have to inform you why his mailing was not printed with the union bug even though he paid for the union stamping. That would then be another story about election meddling and the machine.

We work while he plays police. If you dig deeper you’ll find a fraudulent candidate with major abuse of our important benefit especially for the really sick n injured. It it serious!!! If elected, his past is very troubling to our membership with the threat of huge embarrassment. I’m not a candidate. I’m not for any side. He’s desperate and needs to go back to call back where’s currently assigned. Ask yourself this one question, of all the other candidates, if they don’t get President, will they be ok career wise / financially? Yes they will. One guy won’t. I’m not comfortable giving my union dues to this guy. Don’t let Larry and the media have the last laugh.

The more of us the return a FOP Ballot shows that we are a serious Voting Block and influencer worth having in a City elected candidates corner. But if you overthink it you can see how the City is trying to change the climate.
Most candidates wont bother to seriously consider endorsements from a block of 1000 -2000 possible voters when margins from others exceed FOP overall involvement.
Compare that to CPS-CTU, who are a somewhere over 80% turnouts for their union election ballots and a strong sought after vote base.

We may have subpar FOP candidates on the ballot but the bigger picture is Sworn Member participation in all City-County elections.

Cola raises were not pursued by DONAHUE! He only jumped on after Local 2 (fire) pushed for the legislation. He refused early on to help or get behind the movement until it got traction from the same guy Mark DID NOT ENDORSE for state rep. No Mark endorsed Fran HURLEY the receptionist and most unqualified candidate from the 19th Ward, unless you think getting Ginger Rugai's dry cleaning and hair appointments a qualification. There were 2 others asking for FOP endorsement. The Fireman who graduated Law school that pushed for COLA legislation and Sgt Joe Bird a Lawyer. But Mark being the self serving 19th ward union leach that he has been for 30 years jammed Hurley's Endorsement through his puppets on the PAC. Now Hurley is legislating laws that affect us, our families, and friends. I confronted Mark about not backing one of our own and jumping on the COLA legislation late. Mark said of course he jumped on late, He would be crazy not to. (remember he passed on first approach until Fire did the heavy lifting) On Hurley he said she will vote the way we want her too....Thats Bull She will vote the way Madigan wants. Bella works short hours four days a week @ $25 per hour. He is NOT paid as ma field rep rate. Ag-u-liar and Murray are both making Captains pay on top of their pension. Murray is also taking the $700 month trustee stipend. Ag-u-liar never works 5 days in the same week. He's been averaging about 3.5. Murray rarely starts before 10:30. The credit union cameras record everything.
Google the idiot running that used an empty vodka bottle to hydrate while working a safe passage route . He runs it. What a moron. What has Prieb done is the question? He received captains pay as a field rep , yet didnt serve as one for 2 1/2 years. Didn't go out on callouts. Didn't go on emergency rotation after hours. He was labeled the media guy yet he was the guy who championed a media blackout or the Trib. On the verge of doing the same thing with the Times. He mumbles his own words on camera. Cant even read his own speeches properly at the city hall microphone. He is some kind of professional writer because he wrote a few books? He self published them because they sucked so bad. He also cant even do his own work. The Board of Directors pays his editor 1200/month to do his research and edits for the blog posts. He plotted from day one up there to run with Murray and Bartlett to take out Kevin. That's why ZERO has been accounted in 3 years. They are all selfish hacks trying to hang on to the money.

Wrong. Donahue got fired by Dean Angelo. Mark did apply for unemployment. You can't get unemployment and collect a pension the size of ours.
What Graham did by hiring them as employees is they get to pay into Social Security and Medicare. They will both get bigger social security checks for it! Is the lodge paying for both of their medical insurance? NO ONE knows because Graham refuses to show their employment records to any one on this Board of Directors.

I know of Catanzara when we both worked in 018. He a strange guy to say the least. He got caught working a side job while on the medical. He got a CR on Lt JS and Sgt BM. These two supervisors are great people on and off the job. They would do anything to help another cop. That wasn’t good enough for John. I know personally of these two incidents. I have heard numerous stories of his other escapades. He will for sure make us look bad. I don’t know who I’m voting for but I know who I’m not voting for. A lot of you know this guy, please speak up.

P.O John Catanzara was recommended for placement in the personnel concerns program in July 2004 due to sustained domestic violence C.R #287661 from which the member served a 30 day suspension 01-30 March 2005
During the one year time frame that P.O Catanzara was to be closely monitored by his supervisors, P.O. Catanzara was absent from duty for 240 days due to personal illness, injury on duty, and suspension. P.O. Catanzara will remain in personnel concerns for the next twelve months due to an insufficient time frame for immediate supervisors to observe and interact with the member.
P.O. Catanzara, while on the medical roll in September 2004, due to an injury on Duty, was found to have worked secondary employment resulting in sustained CR# 300954 which presently has a recommended 20 day suspension.
P.O. Catanzara received two summary punishment actions for medical roll violations. SPAR# 502053 dated 15 JUN 05 and SPAR#502271 resulting in reprimands.
P.O. Catanzara frequently shows disrespect towards his immediate supervisors by failing to follow instruction as directed and alleging personal harassment when management decisions are not to his benefit.
Since P.O. Catanzera's date of appointment, 03 JAN 95, the member has placed himself on the medical roll on 30 occasions for a total of 195 days non-IOD. The member has been carried injury on duty on 9 occasions for a combined total of 589 days. P.O. Catanzara has utilized 784 days due to various ailments/injuries.

Department is corrupt at all levels and nothing can curb or stop it. If you have no clout than nothing gets done. You are on your own, you receive no help. Everyday I hear officers complain and worry about IOD bills sent to collections. No one listens, no one to turn to for help, no one cares. With time everyone realizes this is a dog eat dog environment.
Anyone care to explain why we should do more than just collect on the 1st and 16th?

The member has been carried injury on duty on 9 occasions for a combined total of 589 days. P.O. Catanzara has utilized 784 days due to various ailments/injuries.

Some supporters of the northwest side Republican candidates have been drinking their own cool aid for a long time now.
Now they are using the FOP elections to condemn anyone who hasn’t agreed with their positions.
Let’s review the facts.
The FOP Board voted to endorse all four of the candidates they wanted in various elections. They objected that the FOP Board found both candidates running for the same seat, Senator Robert Martwick and Sergeant Dan O’Toole, well qualified. This group is outraged that every FOP board member did not solely endorse O’Toole.
So they are now taking out their anger on all who didn’t vote their way. They have even gone to the extent of singling out Board Members for condemnation and claiming their vote should condemn them in the upcoming election. The FOP Board has to look out for all of the FOP membership, not just their group.
Aguilar and Donahue are without a doubt the most successful FOP reps in their fields. Aguilar has saved members about a half million in wages as the head of Grievances. His success is so great that even the City has admitted he would be a loss for the membership.
Aguilar was key in negotiating contracts prior to the fiasco of a contract we work under now. Luckily for the members, he is a key player in the current negotiations. Donahue and Aguilar were both on the negotiating team for two great contracts that got benefits that have now been lost because two Presidents with no experience were voted in.
Donahue has received three 1-year contracts from both Mike Shields and Kevin Graham to lobby for the members in Springfield. Dean Angelo kept him on for 5 months after his last of the Shields contracts expired because Dean had no idea what to do, but in the end Donahue would not work for Dean.
Dean turned lobbying duties over to a “Professional Lobbyist,” and didn’t give this lobbyist anything to do for three years and it showed. The FOP got hammered in one bill after another. As Donahue reports to the board each week, the politicians are in Springfield.
Donahue fights tireless against bad legislation. The first year he wasn’t there to do it--2015--the bill passed that now requires us to collect data for the ISR’s. Donahue had been fighting that off since 2004 and Dean never stepped up to the plate after he left.
Each year Donahue was employed for the FOP it was by contract. He never filed for unemployment because he had another job before he left Dean in 2014. His current contract is up in May and for what he has done, should be more than enough to have him get another contract, if he’ll stay.
Don’t allow the agenda of a very small group of cry babies to influence your vote. Educate yourself on all the Candidates and make a decision based on truth and not on what some paste on bathroom walls.
Thankyou SCC for opening this union forum to discuss the candidates. It has really opened my eyes. Wow ! I was gonna vote for a guy I thought was a pure fighter but now I see his career was self serving and an abuser.

If you look at Facebook Bob Bartlett and Pat Murray spend all day posting negative posts during the business day at FOP. They both know they are going to loose. Maybe lose badly. They are hoping with all hope that if they throw enough mud they could get Preib into a runoff. If you think there is mud being thrown now wait to what it's like in a run off. It will make the eruption of Mount Vesuvius seem like a puff of wind. If zero personality Marty Preib could get elected in a run off he could appoint both of these guys as field reps.
Bartlett was not elected to office but was appointed by Kevin Graham for his help in defeating Angelo in there runoff. Bartlett is has become a professional mudslingger and political hit-man. Bartlett has gotten used to the good life on Captains pay.
Murray against all past practices is keeping the full FOP salary on top of his pension. Both of these guys have both lost all of my respect. They have both become Donahue lacky's with all the traits of a democrat swamp rat.

Here is my take on the F.O.P. elections, seems to me that everyone running for office only cares about padding their pockets, they just want that bump in pay to sit back and do nothing. Election time they come out and make big promises and once they get their spot you never see or hear from them again until next election.
