Ed Panosh is a solid choice. Smart guy. Should be in violent. Jarrod Smith, nice guy but not the brightest bulb. Tom Keane?? That guy was a whiny clout baby who has had cushy spots his whole career. Not the most knowledgeable fellow and has no business working Violent Crimes let alone be in the D-Unit. He was too busy sucking the newly dumped Lt. Joe Poland’s ass in Area Central when he was in RBT. Made his phone calls when he made Lt and fucked over a few guys to get a spot in 011 then bailed because he was scared about being responsible for a busy district. Made more phone calls, got to 024, bumping other lieutenants, then made another phone call to get to 018 so he could have yet another cushy spot. Good luck at Area 5 to the detectives that work for him because he’s totally clueless about violent crimes. And good riddance Lt. Joe Poland, you’re a piece of shit and we’re happy that you’re gone. This chart is suitable foe framing
Looking at the A-team lineup, the d-unit will be hitting them out of the park when it comes to contributing to overall crime reduction. Its hard not to have a Chris Mathews at MSNBC moment with a thrill up your leg when you see the new staff wearing their power ties and adoring the neat creases on their trousers.
Can one suggest a new crime reduction strategy. The New Haven Connecticut P.D. has tackled their drug crime epidemic with "drug use kits" for those addicted to personal use amounts of heroin and crack. Kits include crack pipes, cooking kits, sterile needles, etc. to assist with addiction. Pamphlets with help resources for safe drug use would also included.
Chicago has an epidemic murder problem here like the Coronavirus deaths in communist China. Maybe C.P.D. can distribute kits containing eye and ear protection to all those unlawful possessors and shooters of those touted illegal guns. This kit could be distributed after dismissed gun possession cases or for shooting or murder offenders receive those little or no cash bonds while exiting the bond hearings. Pamphlets include information with safe gun handling practices and provide information on approved ranges for practice with the hope of reducing collateral human damage. Real world common sense solutions for complex crime problems.

Think it’s a ploy from the dept to have some of us “experienced” detectives give up the 10hr days and bid to Area 4 or 5. However those two morons aren’t as bad as what we been dealing with; yes I’m referring to the Keebler elf himself Mike Kelly. Even with a horrendous clearance rate that turd still lingers.

As a citizen who happened to speak to him on the phone when calling 018, I have to agree. Listened to me, asked questions and immediately took action.
Will the area 3 commander finally dump the SVU sargent? How many women have complained about his sexual harassment? Dave Savini has been contacting detectives for a story. Is this why the Commander didn't get a long overdue promotion?
Panosh is a creepy MF who likes to look over people’s shoulders to see what they are working on or watching. Caught him doing that several times at Area Central. Then he runs into the office and writes stuff on his secret notebook. What a putz. Good luck with that dork Area 5.
If Eric worked in hell, people would be lining up to work for him. He is smart, was a detective and a sergeant in the D-Unit, and an all around nice guy. He has a law degree and will never flaunt it. Well, when we had to put in the paperwork for the initial "Lead Homicide Cert." the state asked questions about how many murders you handled, how many felony investigations you handled etc. Mikey put down that he handled 900 homicide investigations as a Dic. We put a copy of it on the wall. Laughed our asses off.

How can I guy that was a detective for so little time, then even less time as a sergeant in the D, have the experience and know how to become an area commander?? And then he picks his buddies to run the place with him? Not the best and the brightest, his buddies! Here you have a lot of people promoted in rank order and still you bitch about them. Everyone screams that merit has ruined the Dept, but by all accounts here that is disproven by promoting people that made it off score. A few made one promotion by merit. Most by score. So which is it? Do we hate the merit people or do we hate the score people? The answer is, the entire promotion system is flawed. Both score and merit. Until we identify a process for promotion that includes intelligence coupled with leadership coupled with management / interpersonal skills, we will continue to wallow in mediocrity with our supervisor Corp.
And who’s responsible for this NEW hack mess? Oh, that’s right, Chief Deenihan. No different than soon-to-be deputy chief Staples. Did he make ANY attempt to straighten out the D with the most qualified bosses? It looks like the same ol clout bullshit! Lt.’s with REAL detective experience rotting in districts, that also applied for the job, were ENTIRELY overlooked!

Confused about some of the negative comments about Downes. Has been a good guy to work for since he made LT. Seems to look out for the coppers on the watch, treats beat cops with respect, and seems genuinely appreciative of the work the watch does. Just my two cents.
TD knew the District was just a brief stop on his way back to the DD, same as when he made Sgt. So fortunately he wasn’t there long enough to see his true colors. Consider yourself lucky.
Please tell me that the Area Four guys are going back to Area Four. You know who you are... Cirone, Flarehty and Holy to make a few. Area Three might actually be a nice place to work again.

No way Flaherty is Leaving Area 3. He has his pistol out right now at port arms, pacing the floor of the homicide office like he's guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier - all in deference to the dry-erase board. "Who didn't log their prisoner?" he randomly shouts like a tourettes patient.

I sure hope they take Roth back to the area as a sargent. This guy turned down the promotion several times because he like what he was doing. He teaches classes to new detectives. He goes out of his way to answer questions and help the less experienced. I learned a lot from him when I first made dick. This is important because the training you get once you hit the area is terrible. You have to basically learn everything on your own. But Roth helped whoever asked. He was funny to and great to work around. There are a few people who did not like him but I guess some are threatened or just will never be happy. He needs to be a sargent back again in the detectives.
