Yes, it's going to be EXACTLY like that
There is zero truth to that rumor, so far. Each area will be allotted 12 teams. It has yet to be decided what the exact makeup of those teams will be. For instance, Area 3 is not going to need 8 Gang Enforcement teams. It's likely they'll have a large contingent of Sat and Bike teams. Areas 2 and 4, on the other hand, will need significantly more gang teams than, say A/5 or A/3. The Gang and Sat teams will be working out of the area buildings and will still maintain the 10 hour schedule. Of course, given the spastic nature of our department, this could all change in the blink of an eye and it will be MSF and TRU all over again.
Hope they keep the good Sgts if they’re downsizing. Keep Sgt. Aziz, great guy cops cop.

I just heard that they will have to answer to the District Commanders in the districts just like the dicks. The powers that be are trying to bridge the gap between Patrol, specialized units and the dicks. They will be accountable to the DC’s in the areas that they work. They will debrief the commanders, not work for them.
Makes sense to carpetbagging bosses. Take guys who on average have more CB numbers under their belt then a majority of the department and shit on them. Happened before and will happen again. Now go out there and write a fucking ISR.

Very True and So is Mass Transit. A new Unit will be replacing the Transit Officers. Terrorism Unit to be up by beginning of summer. No more soft clothes. All officers will be in BDU's. I believe a past commander wanted this but never took off. Federal money (LOTS!) being granted for the unit. Takes the cost burden off city and CTA. Hard to shop in BDU outfit.
How about we disband all special units? Put everyone back in Patrol and reset everything and everybody? Only form a special unit (MSF, Summer Mobile, Agg Batt Team etc..) when need arises, and on a temp basis. Everyone gets sent back eventually. No patronage, no phone calls. Everyone is a patrolman first. If you don't produce, you get sent back early. I never thought we needed a gang unit. Chicago is terrorized by splinter gangs with little organization. Patrol can handle them, and do exactly what they do.
Sounds easy, right?

I’m hearing the same things. Teams are actually being expanded in fact from 8-10 coppers. Teams will work out of the areas. But as you said, who knows, tomorrow we could hear that it’s all changed.

There are indeed some slugs, that’s for sure. But I’d say overall a vast majority are there working. But I am curious, why should a gang team be the first on any shooting? I don’t understand. I don’t think they have any special medical training. Their radios work the same as ours to call for an ambulance. Even if they can identify the victim immediately from working the area, still doesn’t give you any insight into who did the shooting. And if they’re doing their job correctly, they should have lots of quality arrests which means time in the station, which means you’re not going to be the first one scene. A beat car, tact car, SAT car, whatever you can think of, all the same shit being first car responding to a shooting. “Hello law abiding citizen, I’m police officer Dave with the Chicago police department, I am here to help you. Where are you shot?” “Man fuck you bitch!” Call for an ambulance.

How many times has the truth been told? Patrol is the backbone of the department,and this is another reason the mayor authorized more new marked squads to be purchased,and the detectives to be in uniform in marked vehicles with their status clearly on the front fenders "detective unit!" It is a great breath of fresh air, good for district beat coppers and also for accountability, enough of the 3 hour tours getting paid for 8 or more the game is over,and it is about dam time!

Rumor has it that the new anti terrorism unit is going to take over the fast patrol boats that are in the marine unit. There is a push to get more homeland $$$ and bolster counter terrorism on the biggest municipality on the Great Lakes. CFD is slated to take over all dive operations due to the current lawsuit filed against the city for a poorly run dive training program which resulted in extensive training for almost a year that eliminated 8 PO's, one of which was a female who was washed out of the program in the last week of a 52 week training course . This new unit is slated to perform more Coast Guard type patrols and perform extensive vessel boardings for safety and compliance .

Merit Hacks being promoted 70% is usually required to pass any test from DL to CDL , Lawyer , Doctor , maybe 50% is required for Ethics test for Merit Supervisors and politicians
