CTA Crime Continues
Tuesday stabbing. Wednesday shooting:
- A man was shot while aboard a CTA Blue Line train Wednesday morning, according to Chicago police. The shooting happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday at the UIC-Halsted station, located at 430 South Halsted.
In a press conference, police said the man, who is approximately 30, was shot once in the back and transported to an area hospital in serious condition. Police believe the man was targeted due to an exchange of words prior to the shooting. Detectives are on the scene investigating and released a surveillance image of the suspect.
We're pretty sure there are a lot of signs that clearly state "No Guns" posted all over CTA property, so this must be another one of those made-up stories that are generated just to make the Mass Transit detail look bad.

Any ways I was talking to a local communist who resides on the north side about the status of murders in city going unsolved. I said shit, 40 years ago if you killed someone the odd were great that you got caught and convicted by a jury and shuttled off to prison. The current situation is the case you would not even get arrested. This asshole was ok with that being the situation. To further troll him, I said that I would rather 90% of all pregnancies in Chicago be aborted and flushed because the genetic material of the parents comes back as trash. Again this asshole was ok with that as well. Guy was stole cold drunk on democratic propaganda

Time to shut the public transit bullchit down. If elon musk or jeff bezos isn't spending money on it, it's not a money maker.
The trains should only be open for use from 6am to 7pm weekdays and limited on weekends. The buses can be used 24 hrs a day. If a study on CTA train revenue can be done in regards to riders who pay and riders who don't, it'll show loss revenues from as early as 2pm thru 5am daily. Closing the stations at 7pm on "Non-game and Non-special event" days will save a ton of revenue and cut down on CTA crime. The train equipment and infrastructure will last longer and costs for repair and upkeep will be reduced.
But, but we have signs! Not our fault if they do not obey. Just what do you want us to do have an armed guard on every bus and train?
The laws of this corrupt society are now aimed against the law abiding citizen.
Innocent people are not protected and cannot protect themselves.
Is there video and if not why not. Thought the CTA has state of the art video equipment. But of course that video would show race of shooter and we certainly can't have that can we.
Is the CPD detective division at all serious about catching this offender? Because I clicked on the article...and the picture they're released might as well be Bigfoot! It's blurry as all hell. There has to be a better picture of the offender that they could have downloaded from available video capturing the shooting. Seriously!

No cops on CTA said Lynda Lopez. Cops make her feel uneasy while riding transit. The problems police have created for POC on mass transit is the reason for the crime. Evil police!

but the no-brainer millenial at a crosswalk staring at his

I am sure that there are more then a few good officers on the mass transit unit. But, if that is the case , then the unit lacks good leadership and a good plan to suppress crime, and possibly a shortage of manpower. I say bring back the CTA police . The leadership of the CPD has shown that it is unwilling or unable to stem the crime and anti social behavior on the system.

I'm 64 years old, live in NWI. No too long ago I used to love visiting Chicago and the various culture areas of the city. Watching the news and reading the articles on this site. By the way this is an awesome blog site! I have no desire to ever visit the city again. I feel for the citizens of Chicago.

The plan has always been reactive !! Never proactive!!! Resources are all used on redline south. North side and loop have maybe one unit to cover each . Tact teams are not utiilized at all to stop crime .just playing the numbers. No fault on them.

IMHO, here’s a couple suggestions FWIW:
1) Bring back the CTA police. Years ago, when I was in high school, I used to see them at the Division Street station. Their mere presence alone undoubtedly exerted a deterrent effect as well as providing reassurance someone was watching out for the riders.
2) Since the El stop at U of I Halsted has U of I students and employees accessing the trains, why not ask the U of I Police to provide protection at that stop. This will eliminate the need for CPD to patrol at least this one station.
Just some thoughts here...

The Ozinga woman's car jacking wasn't enough. An 18-year old getting smashed between a Jeep Liberty and a tree until she died on the lawn (a trail Foxx's office lost) wasn't enough.
