Another CTA Crime
- A street performer was stabbed Tuesday while he was performing in the CTA Red Line station in the Loop.
A woman in her 30s approached the man about 1:35 p.m. at the Jackson station in the 200 block of South State Street and began arguing with him before cutting his arm with a knife, Chicago police said.
The man, 26, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition, police said. A fire department spokesman listed him in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.
Maybe he was a really really bad performer? But still, how much longer do citizens have to put up with the trains being human garbage dumps?

I'm a cop, can carry on cta, and I rarely do, or want to take public trans. Afraid I'll have to take some police action off-duty with all the trash that ride the trains.
Yawn, crime on CTA is not news. No crime on CTA would be news but a knifing is not. Sign should be posted warning ride at your own risk. Should be required to sign waver before using any CTA vehicle. Class action law suit from Lovie and Lovie, were you attacked it threatened while on CTA, call 1-800- Get Paid.
Since there are signs posted that guns are not allowed isn’t it their responsibility to determine that all riders are gun free. If no metal sectors or security at all stops and stations then aren’t they libel for and gun crime on their property. Also no ride at your own risk signs, more liability. Millions to be had by an enterprising ambulance chaser.
This is the reason I cannot wait to get my CCW permit, the guys in blue try to do an outstanding job, but when you are understaffed severely, and have a city and department that does not support them, there is not much they can do. It is the sad truth, and one every person needs to think about, it is not the job of the police to protect anyone. Everyone is responsible for their own safety and defense. It is past time for people to wake up and see this and understand it is not the police officer's job to protect or defend them at all, and they need to protect and defend their own safety. Unfortunately 99.9% of the population in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs will never understand or accept that so there will be many more of these type of incidents. And then people will always say "why doesnt the police do anything" That is what is so terrible about the whole thing.

The CTA is a rotten cesspool sinking in a violent parade of human filth. Urine and feces dominate the senses whenever I do ride. The smell is comparable to some of the district vestibules during the winter homeless migration.
The management is directly to blame for this. Stop the endless parade of entitled merits who come through and just don't want to make any waves.
I believe this problem can be fixed, if the right attention was focused on it. It's going to take the mayor's support as well. Looks like Beck is just another entitled asshole who bangs the reformer drum for ambience in the room.

I rode the CTA Blue line for 4 weeks. During the weekend mornings the homeless own the trains coming out of O'Hare. During the afternoons the homeless are a little thin out but they are still on the trains. Bring back 5th watch and two and you are through or if something good one and you are done. Same problems are occurring on the light rail in Minneapolis and St. Paul (where I live five months of the year). Vagrants and hoodlums harass and attack passengers at all hours of the day. Just like Chicago, law-abiding people find buses are safer.

Mass Transit is where it's at right now with the present climate. As a career loser in patrol and in a District, I know this. Mass Transit does absolutely NOTHING! If something happens on a train, on a platform, it doesn't matter, the beat car comes to handle it. The Mass Transit guys are goin home laughing all the way to the bank. They are, and always have been, USELESS!

I second that. The CPIC Personnel will tell you if he is working, don't count on him showing up. And the bosses meaning The First Deputy does nothing.
The CTA needs to be held accountable for their own shit. We have enough to do. Thats a billion dollar business. And they have a retired CPD Deputy Chief running it. The city definitely needs a refund.

They really do give scholarships to just about anyone these days. I wish it was that simple when I was working two jobs & paying for college out of my own pocket and paying rent. Meanwhile, in New York City, there's a whole movement to not allow cops on the MTA at all. I admit, a part of me is DYING to see this happen...I'm sure you all would agree that once the evil racist Trump-loving cops are banned from the subway, everyone will agree to be nice to each other and policing will be done through social pressure rather than traditional law enforcement. Kind of like how if someone gets beat up on the subway, people rush to offer aid instead of filming it on their phones for entertainment, right? RIGHT?

I agree.. a certain group of lazy district officers flocked to Mass Transit trying to hide. They thought it was the chill until retirement unit.
