And the most insane thing of all is we are CATERING to THEM and their bullshit. When you reward bad behavior, you see more of it. Ivan Pavlov figured this concept out hundreds of years ago, or something. Why can’t we? Oh yes. I know. Politics and emotions overwhelm facts, logic, and reason in this shithole we call home.

that’s nothing back in the 90’s the 3rd watch gang team in 016 was permanently detailed to 015 for 10 years. sergeants we’re getting pissed off because they kept saying if they wanted to work in 015 they would have bid there. so they decided to rotate every other period with the other gang team. this shit has been going on for decades to try and control the citizens of the westside of chicago

Seems to me that 011's leadership can't manage to come up with any viable plans to effectively deploy those assigned to the district. So instead of finding a leader that can motivate the troops and provide them with the tools to keep them safe while dealing with all the bullshit that 011 has to offer, some merit hacks somewhere decided to just pull resources from a transitional district that is on the brink of a downward spiral. DC Spencer is so painfully incompetent, as evidenced by his "meritorious" promotions to Sgt, Lt, and then directly to DC. His qualifications? He was frat brothers with Fat Head Ed. Well, HE GONE! Time to clean up all the mess he left behind. Nobody in the district respects him, and even the residents that live there are starting to call for his head on a platter. They had a shooting and/or homicide for nearly every single day in January, and February is keeping that trend going. Come on Charlie! Clean up this mess!

Not from 90-95. I was in 015 and no teams from 016 were detailed there.
Just think with the reorganization the Detectives assigned to 16 can go to 17, or 11, and answer calls and help out...

All this screwed up department, the criminal politicians & liberal media ever care about is murder numbers. In 2011, 500 odd murders in Chicago was a travesty, because in every other big city murders were going down but not here. Chicago was on every major news outlet for that number...fast forward 2016, 700 plus murders. Not one politician or major media outlet called out bullshit of 8 years of the First Black President (gave the people what they wanted & they didn’t seem to get much in return). Then of course, the media and the Democrats of this city were in too big a frenzy over the Laquan McDonald shooting & the election of Trump and almost nary a word about why Homicides were over 700. The following years not much different, but somehow this is all about police reform not community reform. So when all the assholes stopped asking why so many murders, it then became the police aren’t solving enough murders. No one asks about all the changes that tie police hands from preventing actual crime- in addition to putting them more in harm’s way with an overwrought use of force model and too much weight on the court of public opinion & scrutiny. A court I might add made up of people too cowardly to do what officers do on a daily basis. We have merit because this is how the mayoral administration gets puppets in the police department. Our union should fight tooth & nail to completely abolish merit as it is destroying our department and making effective policing nearly impossible.

With the reorganization this should end. Area Five won’t include 011 or 015 so it removes the temptation to do this.

I don't know about 007 but think again if you think there's that many cops in 011. Requested days off being denied due to "manpower shortage" plenty (too many) of 10-99 cars on 2nd watch (maybe why it seems many of the recent shootings are taking place on 2nd...) AND to top it off, rumor has it Spencer is pissed at the district so he called in inspectors to mess with everybody, hence the recent uptick in round-the-clock inspector presence. Not the way to motivate the troops that WILL or WILL NOT do the activity you request.

Got news for you in case you haven't figured it out. The yups have been knocking on the east end for the last 20 years and they only go so far. I've seen the wave of urban pioneers come...then get burned, the first time a corner gets lit up, then they're gone. The volume is not, and will arguably never be, enough to convert the neighborhood.
