Firefighter Shot

  • A Chicago firefighter was shot Sunday while responding to a car fire in Albany Park on the Northwest Side.

Fire Commissioner Richard C. Ford II said crews had arrived at the scene in the 3300 block of West Wilson Avenue and put a hose line on the fire shortly before hearing shots and taking cover at 1:02 a.m.

The 36-year-old firefighter, who has been with the department for six years, was hit in the leg and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition, Chicago police and fire officials said.
And when fire fighters (and police) stop responding to certain neighborhoods, anticipate a taxpayer revolt along with assorted vigilantism to break out.

Plenty of gunners willing to ride shotgun for CFD.
Question is, will they be welcome? Doubt approval.

I just saw that jagoff of a CFD commissioner on television saying this was “an isolated incident” and “unfortunate.” Are you kidding me? He had an opportunity to use his position of the head of the CFD to display his outrage over what the City has become and it is obvious to any sane person that he is saying what he has been told to say to tow the party line. Do these assholes actually think people don’t trust their ears and eyes? AGAIN we have a public figure making excuses for criminal behavior that years ago would be so out there, so unacceptable that it would be a news story for weeks. I am sick and tired of the press, the politicians, and these ass kissing department heads. Someone say it—-this City is no longer safe ANYWHERE. We have what the rest of the Country considers mass shootings EVERY weekend. But the press and politicians treat it as business as usual and dare not discuss it in public. God forbid we talk badly about the “community”. You know, the free shit army soldiers that have ruined this beautiful City. Try asking the spouse or children of any firefighter if they think getting shot in the performance of his or her duty is “unfortunate” or “isolated”. Ford, you’re a piece of shit for saying that in front of cameras because you know they just love to lap that shit up. Yeah. Everything is fine. Nothing to see. Move along. Fuck you. I can’t imagine there’s a firefighter in this City who could possibly have any respect for you after that press conference. Not to mention the cancelled promotional exam because your leadership sucks so bad you can’t even manage to do something that the department has done for years and years with no problem. From what I saw this morning, you’re just another fat fucking slob like Eddie Johnson running shit he shouldn’t be running.

Key word for Fire is 'BIS Scene Safe'. Everyone is taught that if the environment is not secure, then don't engage. With this in mind, and FD can, and should call for security if deemed necessary. It's not up to the Kommunity and their race baiters, case law supports EMS. What does seem amusing is that if EMS requires a QRF to support their missions in 'certain' areas, then obviously these areas are not operating under local control and need be identified as areas of insurgency. We are past pretending these 'people' are anything less than hostiles. This back and forth just feeds the chaos. I'm reminded of how the South Koreans dealt with insurgency in the AOs. Unlike our liberal democracy, they didn't f**k around. Take fire from a ville? That's what arty is for. These areas were models of law and order, unlike the US controlled mayhem. These creatures are criminals and terrorists and should be dealt with as such.

Hmm... Does responding to a car fire mean a trap was set? Because it sounds like a trap was set. This reminds me of the beginning of Demolition Man, when Wesley Snipes' character lists all the city service employees who'd learned to NOT come to "his" neighborhood.

First- Let's all hope that the firefighter makes a full and uneventful recovery...it ain't over until it's over and they return to work at 100%.

Second- It would be nice if there could be 'No service' areas due to violence against first responders...The US Postal Service did that, and it was common knowledge among the feral denizens that, if you laid a hand on a mail carrier, they would not deliver the mail (and the welfare checks back then) for awhile until things settled down and/or someone was caught.

Third, I think a little taxpayer revolt at City Hall and vigilantism (Where is 'Dexter' when you need him??) in some parts of town would be a good thing and a great way to once again prove Darwin was right.

Finally...(Trigger warning!!)

Commonplace for Tolerant, Welcoming, Diverse, Accepting Malmö.
It’s why they have No Go Zones there, why fires are allowed to self extinguish and why police need amour to protect from the rocks and molotovs when they have to tread into these areas.

Under the maniacal agenda of the angry ground hawg Lari LightLoafer, this Global World Class Sanctuary City is just a few years away from the same.

Off topic....And speaking of France
there was a recent clash between riotous government workers, Yellow Vests that included off duty (Paris) Fire Dept members and Police were dispatched to control the chaos. The long continuous protests erupted all due their President Macrons pension cutting proposal (Reforms) which basically takes away monies from the workers and gives to the deadbeat invaders. Macron wants to consolidate 42 public sector pensions into one single pension fund.
Sound familiar.... IL Sanctuary prime minister JB Pignutz recently consolidated several downstate PD pension funds into one.

You buy their trust like a typical Gangsta', except dressed up with pearls in a boys suit. Dude, Inc. wouldn't be caught dead dressed like that. When will you declare "No Go Zones" or "No Free Give Away Zones" and will they include the dope shops and the new proposed casino.

Oddly enough, Albany Park is not the worst neighborhood in Chicago. As I always have said on my FB and on here - you guys are ALWAYS welcome in our firehouses - for a cup of coffee, a bite to eat or just somewhere you guys want to let your guard down. We got your back!
As far as the body armor question above. Yes it was a fight a few years ago. A field chief, who liked to stir the pot, always wore one. They tried getting him for being out of uniform. He took it and ran. We now have a body armor policy and we can wear it - but it has a few stipulations that I don’t remember. But it largely goes unenforced.

God Bless you guys! Be safe!!

Imagine rounds in a magazine cooking off in a structure fire. Etc, etc. Fire has their own thing, and they can't be expected to dodge bullets while doing it. What seems likely is to have SWAT provide security. Obviously the TOE would require some serious admin decisions, but that's what the white shirts are paid for. Providing cover fire for the FD... This is where one has to realize that insurgencies are existent. Anyone taking pot shots at a rescuer is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Ah, the question is why reporters aren’t scrambling to obtain that footage and run it on every channel. Because we all know, that’s against the rules now. Might upset a politician. When I saw Lori Lightfoot chastise a reporter during the Eddie (Hold My Hennessy) Johnson “news” conference for asking a question “journalists” were told ahead of time NOT to ask, I knew it was over for reporting. And we as a City and Country will suffer greatly for this manipulation of the media that tells nothing and informs noone.

The shooting was captured on a neighbor's "Nest" camera on his front door.

It would be great for this to be shown on the evening national news. An on-duty fire fighter shot and falling to the ground.

NO ONE should be voting for these democrat scumbags destroying all cities across America.

What the fuck do you want Officers to do??? They saturated the area and started checking buildings, etc. They all responded as quickly as possible. This department is full of whiny fucks that need to retire already. 017 district is understaffed and tact teams were in 011 (Fucking joke). Once the scene was safe, it was taped off. If you don’t have all the facts...stfu! You probably work at HQ on a merit promotion. Jeez...this department is a joke.

Stop blaming everyone else for something one shithead did to the fireman. It happened. Now, get out there, knock on doors, follow up on leads, and catch the SOB who committed this act. We are still one of the nation's best police depts. Let's get to work and solve this. Enough of the finger pointing.

2/03/2020 12:55:00 AM

I like your enthusiasm but unfortunately we are not one of the top police departments anymore. The damage of so many obscene merit picks is too much to overcome. Eddie and the frat bro’s really set this department back quite a long ways. Not trying to sound racist but it’s true.

That CFD Comm. Ford is on his way out. He has his own ‘Eddie Johnson’ type love fest goin’ on with a nitwit that couldn’t even pass the last Chiefs exam (but was promoted after the City has to rescore the results so idiots could pass). Doesn’t help either that his posse of morons completely blundered the recent promotional exams and cost the taxpayers millions. Stupidity is what this city must have running everything...

Was on my way to a fire on Kimball and Montrose to take pictures. Got stuck in traffic for a spell and, as I sat there on Montrose a cute little caravan of boys on bicycles rode past, the last one holding a giant revolver in his right hand, almost dragging on the ground, in broad daylight. Must have been on their way to take corrective measures with some disagreeable child. That was 15 years ago, and nothing has changed since.

"Imagine rounds in a magazine cooking off in a structure fire. Etc, etc. Fire has their own thing, and they can't be expected to dodge bullets while doing it. [...]

2/03/2020 01:27:00 AM"

Stop spreading STUPID. After experiments were run, the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturer's Association issued a report documenting that small arms ammunition in a fire cannot launch the bullet. Only on TV and in movies do cartridges, when tossed in a fire, cook off like they were enclosed in the thick steel of a firearm's chamber. The sound heard when ammunition burns is the primer being popped out as the propellant ignites. Wear safety glasses and you're good to go. As for this specific case, body armor doesn't usually protect legs. It's just another illustration of how civilization is draining away from our society, one neighborhood at a time, on our way back to utter savagery. I say, ring such 'hoods with concertina wire and play Escape From New York.

017 "Albany Park" has always been a shit hole. It's definitely not the north east of the city. If anything Albany Park has gotten just a little better, but not much.

I threw on the radio after I saw it posted on twitter (less than 5 minutes after the call went out). The response was sickening. The air was clear the entire time. Dispatchers we’re giving out low priority jobs in 016 and I’d call the response to a CFD 10-1 bonafide FF shot a crawl. Midnights in 017 should be ashamed

2/03/2020 03:23:00 AM

Are you even a cop!? Or are a Paul Blart that works at the mall and listens to the scanner because you want to be in "the know" of things?. I'm sure that responding officers along with the dispatcher did not take this job lightly, so unless you were on scene don't sit here and type up some BS. I've responded to numerous calls coming out as a 10-1 involving CFD and I can tell you that the number of officers responding could fill an entire parking lot at the district. With that being said, I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for my CFD brother that got shot. CFD/CPD strong!

OK easy to understand whats going on here. Cato is going to be area 4 dep in a few months. So why wouldn't he steal manpower from 016 and 017 to help drive down numbers in his new area, kinda smart move on his part....second part of the story that has been hushed in 017. A SGT on 3rd watch (kind of a arrogant prick ) just dumped out of gangs has informant and info on the building where the shots were fired from. Turns info over to tact with the informant but warrant stops cause they are shipped to 011. Midnight guys on scene enter the apartment in question cause of bullet holes in the windows and recover 3 guns and a ton of drugs....if 017 tact isnt sent out the warrant is done and no fireman shot.

Wish him a speedy recovery! Very sad turn of events

This has happened before. Back in the 80’s there were a couple of medics that walked up to an apartment
in the Back of the Yards area and when they knocked on the door the one was shot they the door.

I just saw that jagoff of a CFD commissioner on television saying this was “an isolated incident” and “unfortunate.” Are you kidding me? He had an opportunity to use his position of the head of the CFD to display his outrage over what the City has become and it is obvious to any sane person that he is saying what he has Been told to say.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1st of all up until now this has been “an isolated incident” and “unfortunate” for the CFD. It is very unfortunate that first responders aren’t allowed to do their job without someone being a POS. 2nd it has been “an isolated incident” as it isn’t happening to members of the CFD.
Hopefully they catch the person and makes an example of him. Also he was probably told what to say by city hall. The CFD hasn’t had a
boss with balls since Robert Hoff left back in 2012 because he didn’t want to work for the little midget that had the 5th floor after Daley.
Under Hoff’s watch all hell would of been raised had this happened.

That area and around it have been in a gang war for awhile now. Shots are fired almost nightly but 011 needs manpower from an already shortened manpower district??? This was a gang that had been our all evening involved in gang activity. They came home, the rival gang started the car on fire and waited for the other gang to come back out. CFD got caught in crossfire. Now media, lets report on this.

Is it true that one gang lives on the block & a rival gang came & torched the car & drove around the block. CFD arrives & the whiteheads that one the car come outside & saw the car on fire. The opposing hand drive back & open up on the home team. Gun fight ensues & the firefighter gets hit on cross fire! Bad guys take off with the home team, bad guys go after them! This is done while the 017th Tact team is in 011th district protecting the fine, upstanding citizens, who bring almost nothing to the table!

Thanks to our heroes. Kobe Bryant is not a hero. He's an entitled athlete/rapist in a jersey. The real heroes are the ones who put on the uniforms that matter and show up every day. Military included. Where are the moments of silence for all the heroes who put their lives on the line every day? And JZ and Beyond Me don't stand for the National Anthem? This society has it's priorities f*cked up.

Listening to this response to a firefighter SHOT in 017. It is the most casual response I have ever listened to on air while off duty. Like no one is taking it remotely seriously. And then 1700X had the disrespect to call it “the fire drama” on air. Took them 40 minutes to tape and block off. Why in the hell is this not being responded to with the same seriousness as a cop being shot? Imagine fire casually rolling for a shot cop. Unreal.

2/02/2020 01:43:00 AM

One: Calm is what you want over the radio, not two year wonder's screaming and dispatchers who's hair is on fire..
Two: Officers were there within 15 seconds and grabbed someone running from the scene.
Three: The entire district as well as other districts and a state trooper were there and a did a great job finding evidence that spanned the entire block, including getting guns and dope out of an apartment.
Four: Stop drinking while listening to the scanner or trying to stir shit up goof. Nobody said anything about "fire drama" idiot. I'm sure at some point they will release the tapes and prove you are on bullshit.

Nobody knows where albany park is but everyone knows where the admiral theater is and thats on the northwest side. The admiral theater is in 017. Normally a quiet district but lately the gangbangers have been feuding and playing with their guns. Time to start doing blue cards and isr's on them and do a lot of missions, that will make them stop. Oh, don't forget the event numbers, very important.

in the late 60s and early 70s dude snipers routinely shot at fireman and policeman. i was parking equiptment at 62nd and dorchester firehouse ( like fuckin somalia ) in about 1970 when a tac team was ambushed and killed behind the southmoor hotel in the alley at 63 rd stoney. police had to roll with fire and other cars had to come and watch the squads and rigs in the days before portable radios. things got pretty good race wize until mr fundemental hopey changey got in then it was like 1968 all over again. the tech has changed but the old time hate is back and in full force. cant have a peaceful society get in the way of fundemental change, gotta have full revolt so the socialists can step in and save the constitution. head on a swivel boys and girls, the bad old days are back.
