Mayor Bill de Blasio linked a recent crime surge in the Big Apple to the state’s controversial overhaul of bail laws Friday, after spending a week dancing around the matter.
“We had, for six years, steady decreases in crime across the board. There’s not a whole lot of other environmental things that have changed recently,” Hizzoner told WNYC’s Brian Lehrer on new CompStat data that shows crime has soared since the new laws took effect at the start of 2020. “It sort of stands out like a sore thumb that this is the single biggest new thing in the equation and we saw an extraordinary jump.”
“Of course there’s always a possibility this is plain statistical variation, that happens sometimes,” he added. “But I think it’s pretty clear that there’s only one new major piece in the equation.”
This after a series of high profile attacks where judges released arrestees after particularly violent crimes.....and the shithead(s) went right out and committed the EXACT SAME CRIME within days, even within hours a few times.....and WALKED AGAIN.
The NYPD is in an uproar, along with certain groups who are being repeatedly victimized, who also happen to be the mayor's staunchest supporters. They voted for these crappy politicians who are passing crappy laws and now they're all unhappy that the perpetual criminal class is taking advantage of complete lack of punishment/rules/restrictions.
Any of this sound vaguely familiar to those who follow the career of one Crimesha Foxxx? If that Chinatown double homicide rumor turns out to be true (multiple no-cash-bond felon released again and again), then Crimesha's opponents better be hammering her every day from here until the election.

Back in the day when Daley was States Attorney and new laws made some stalking cases a felony, the phone rang in the offices of a particular group of thee ASA in the morning before going to the morning court call. The third chair picked up the phone, listened for some 30 seconds, turned pale, said into the phone in a faint voice, "good God", and collapsed into his chair. After listening some more, he said into the phone, "Thank you very much" and hung up. The first chair asked him what was wrong. The third chair said the felony stalker in custody we plead the day before to probation and a court order to stay more than one block from the victims home without prior permission of the probation officer was released from Cook County Jail around 4:00 a.m. this morning, apparently took a bus directly to the victims house and was arrested by the responding police inside her house after breaking in the basement window. The third chair then said the Detective on the phone first said the defendant was arrested for murder inside her house with the No Contact Order in his back pocket, that the Detective let him hang on that thought for awhile and then said, "Naw, she is alright, just joking with you". Fortunately us three career prosecutors were fans of police humor. We got their message too. We filed a Violation of Probation Petition as the first thing in court and got the defendant in custody to appear a few days later. With no defense, he plead guilty on the spot and was sentenced by the miffed judge prison. Back in the day the prosecutors were get called on the carpet by their boss if they DIDN'T promptly file those petitions and ask for prison sentences on them. The defendant's hour or so delay from release to re-arrest was the second shortest time in our courtroom for a defendant to be re-arrested for a felony. Those Violation of Bail Bond Petitions and Violations of Probation were so simple, and fast that one of our contested hearings took less than 60 seconds before the Judge banged her gavel finding the defendant in violation. Using those VOBB and VOP petitions with their lesser burden of proof than a felony trial it is both stupid and dangerous for the safety of the victims NOT to use them.
Kim Foxx's current policy on-bail and on-probation crimes will cost needless mayhem and lives.

Years ago I saw some statistics of WW2 fighter pilots. Conway is the only one who will have the name recognition to beat Foxx in the primary.
