- A Chicago police officer has tested positive for COVID-19, Interim Supt. Charlie Beck said in a letter transmitted to CPD employees around 11:30 this morning. The affected officer is assigned to a detective unit that is based at the department’s Homan Square facility, 1011 South Homan, according to a report. Beck did not confirm that detail in his message.
The deparment learned of the officer’s condition today, Beck said, adding that the officer last worked on Sunday.
“This individual will remain at home on quarantine until a clean bill of health has been issued,” Beck wrote. “All members who work in close contact with this individual have been notified and advised to continue to report for work and self-monitor for any symptoms.”
Groot and others are telling all Chicago employees to stay home if they are experiencing symptoms. But we're hearing from the Fire side that if you aren't running a fever of 100.4 or better, you better be at work or face discipline. This while the virus still has an indeterminate incubation period of two-to-ten days.
And has anyone seen that video from Google-me? With the cubicle sneeze shields at HQ, elbow-bumps, PPE's in boxes and the video clip of someone handing out the (expired, ineffective and eight-year-old) sanitizer to cops? We still haven't seen a single PPE, bleach wipe or face mask that we didn't buy ourselves, but Google-me is claiming that every member has been issued equipment? Anyone have a link to this horseshit propaganda?

Why in the world are we still having roll calls? 30 cops in a single small room multiple times a day. That’s going to be our highest chance everyday to contract the virus. I know that’s the single most populated place I’m in each day. We all have to check our emails every tour now. How bout just pass any info along to us that way. Area 3 had a COVID infected person in it for both 2nd and 3rd watch on Sunday. Nothing was cleaned or sanitized and no directions were given to detectives. When detectives stated they were in contact with the infected member they were told no exposure report (except 2 sgts and one detective who already had symptoms) and we were all told that we have to come to work until we start coughing. Lightfoot wants us all sick. She wants us to get our family sick. Less people that don’t vote for her anyways will be left alive.

Here’s some info from your friends at the Detroit Police Dept. Today it was announced that 5 officers have tested positive for the CV and another 152 are under a mandatory two week quarantine. That’s mainly from one Pct on the east side (9). There are 1800 patrol officers in the city stationed at 12 precinct houses, that’s approximately 150 officers per precinct. Now there is 8.7% of the officers off for at least two weeks. What happens when this happens at another 2 or 3 precincts? This city is holding on by a thread, and Chicago isn’t far behind. Stay safe.
No doubt the the powers that be are afraid of mass IODs and the loss of personnel for two weeks and mass decontamination of building, internal equipment and vehicles. Oh the shame of the city, not to mention the cost.

Ya, I'd say the problem is that it is NOT so deadly. SARS was way more deadly but it didn't last long because the carriers knew immediately they were ill and 10% i believe died. This is bad because it can be so mild.
So on one hand it is not deadly - and on the other hand there's all kinds of super-sick Italians. I really don't get it.

Why don't you take ten minutes out of your busy day, pal, and actually find out WHY Italy has a higher death rate, instead of just making unfounded assertions? Unlike you, I took the time to supply a link to an article.
