City tow trucks arrived and yanked the vehicles of every single resident, including numerous elderly people and a more than a few nurses coming in from the night shifts and impounded them for violation of the signs that got posted Saturday with under twenty-four hours notice. The City also "closed" the private lot that the church used for parishioners in some half-assed attempt to force church-goers to park on the streets, streets listed as temporary tow zones to snatch their cars, too.
We don't know what the current parking situation is in Ravenswood (we think it's Ravenswood), but last time we set foot in that area, Permit Parking was rampant along with a heavy concentration of three flats, meaning parking would be a problem, even if it wasn't a Sunday. So all the residents WHO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CHURCH are on the hook for tickets and towing and damages to their cars - because we all know exactly how gently City tow drovers are with someone else's property.
This should be a wake-up call to all the residents who habitually vote for the Machine and "progressives." It should also be a clarion call to the churches across the city as to how far the left will go to crush the faithful of all denominations. You are only useful to them as far as you obey orders and do what you're told. If you don't speak up now, expect the same to happen to you in short order.

As a former resident of the church’s block, I can confirm that 95% of the negative impact and considerable inconvenience of the move to close the street parking will fall squarely on the residents, not the church. This is a disgustingly heavy-handed, unbelievably arrogant approach to the issue. That the mayor (or her minions) in any way think this is a good idea tells you all you need to know about her/their critical thinking and problem solving skills. Appalling.

As a retiree I am ashamed my police department would enforce this nonsense. I saw a vehicle. With 1900x beat tag on it. If that was the DC he should have said this is a blatant violation of the constitution, and had his officers stand down.

Your information is inaccurate based on the information we have at the Ward. Alderman Martin and I visited the area where no-parking signs were posted this morning and spoke to police to ensure they were working to contact residents to make them aware of the restrictions. As of 10am, police reported that no neighbors were ticketed or towed. The private lot to the church was also not closed by the city -- it was filled with churchgoers.
We didn't learn about this order until Saturday afternoon, after signs were posted Saturday morning, and we communicated directly to the Mayor's office about our concerns about the limited notice and the negative impact on neighbors.

Government overreach. This is 100% an example of the mindset of most of the politicians in this country, one that says I am your ruler, do as you are told. There is no reason, none, nill, nada, that a temporary parking ban was instituted other than to supress the will of the people and to dictate the rule of Lightfoot acting as a politician. This is clearly an example of personal conduct, a personal desire to be obeyed, and to surpress and destroy people who do not obey, who do not cower, who do not bow to the rule of Lightfoot. She has now utilized her office and the resources of the City to enforce her personal will, and in doing so has violated the constitutional protections of everyone in that community, and more so those of the people expressing their First Amendment right. This is CLEARLY the intentional supression of the freedom of religion. Intentionally using her official office to carry out her personal bias, and acting outside the scope of her authority and employment has opened up the City to a winnable Federal lawsuit. Luckily though, it also opens her up to punitive damages. PLEASE, PLEASE encourage the church as an entity, and each parishioner to find an aggressive civil rights attorney and sue the personal pants off this woman. I drove past the church and saw all those temporary paper signs tied to trees and light poles, denying even area residents to park in front of their homes.
As a retiree I am ashamed my police department would enforce this nonsense. I saw a vehicle. With 1900x beat tag on it. If that was the DC he should have said this is a blatant violation of the constitution, and had his officers stand down.
The hierarchy of the Chicago Police could have gained some much needed respect from the rank and file.

About six years ago in 020, Rahm was attending some sort of street festival on Argyle and as he exited his vehicle with his "security" detail, a group of Antifa MF'ers start harassing him and chanting that he was a union buster. Rahm ducks into a store and hides like a little bitch. The commander of his security detail, a black guy, cant remember his name, summons my partner and myself over and tells us to get rid of the protestors. Our Commander at the time, sees this interaction and comes over to ask us what was happening. We tell him what's going on and he reams the detail commander a new asshole and tells him that the protestors have 1st amendment rights. He also tells him that he is the commander of 020 and that any orders to his police officers should go through him. He tells us to stand down and explains that in five years when we are in federal court, Rahm and his detail commander will not be there to defend our actions. We allowed the protest to continue, and if I remember correctly, our commander got his ass chewed out by Rahm before he fled the scene. Last boss we had with any balls. Certainly more than the elf on a shelf.

Your information is inaccurate based on the information we have at the Ward. Alderman Martin and I visited the area where no-parking signs were posted this morning and spoke to police to ensure they were working to contact residents to make them aware of the restrictions. As of 10am, police reported that no neighbors were ticketed or towed. The private lot to the church was also not closed by the city -- it was filled with churchgoers.
We didn't learn about this order until Saturday afternoon, after signs were posted Saturday morning, and we communicated directly to the Mayor's office about our concerns about the limited notice and the negative impact on neighbors.
