While listening to a radio talk show a speaker on the show said police officers are not paid enough money for all of the stresses and responsibilities that go along with the job. He said police officers should make 2 to 3 times more. He stated that having the legal authority of taking a life and the violence that police see and deal with on a day to day basis. He further stated if that doesn't work then the other solution is cutting the number of hours they work in half with full pay and benefits. He said being a police officer is the most difficult job in our society.

I was humbled as I listened as NYC PBA President Lynch discussed "Due Process" for law enforcement, and the "Man" leaving the "Rank and File" behind after the exempts mandated subordinate staff engage. The "Rank and File" have been left holding the bag as the bosses and politicians pander to disingenuous vocal community critics, who in my analysis do not speak for the vast amount of residents. Once the cameras have gone away the "Rank and File" will be left to grapple with the destruction of the "looters", and community members who feel disenfranchised because messages promulgated by politicians have negatively spun the narrative.
Furthermore, I sat in amazement listening to Mayor Lightfoot as she discussed how an officer should be fired for giving someone the "finger" without law enforcement "Due Process". I thought much of Chicago is sitting in ruins, and doesn't Lightfoot have more important issues to worry about such as whether "Business" is going to pack-up shop. Chicago is robust and I pray that it will be like a Phoenix and rise from the ruins, but I have my reservations. Stay safe!!!

– for the record...JCat is regularly a call-in guest on The Mancow Radio Show - a huge police, law and order supporter in this city, he also was recently interviewed on WGN TV and it’s archived on the YouTube. I sure incoming days he’ll make it on some conservative national networks too.

I worked as a FF/Paramedic in Baltimore for 32 years. I can tell you that the Union leadership is your own worst enemy. Every year they would put for the slate of candidates they supported. IAFF signs would start popping up that said "Endorsed by...". These candidates would no sooner get in office and then want to make cuts and increase hours etc. Unfortunately, the same people giving out hands out to get votes are reelected constantly. Until, the mindset changes this will be the cycle.

We need to do an at work strike. Show up and do nothing. No proactive. Take your time getting to any and all jobs. No detective should contacts any victim or witnesses. Do not look for fugitives. Do not find stolen vehicles. Do not do search warrants. Do not solve any case. Let’s stick together. We are not sticking together like the police from generations past. We don’t even have a contract and it is not even being negotiated. What are we working for? What is our goal? We are losing all our protections and we are letting it happen without a fight. Union leadership step forward. Contact union leadership from the Midwest including Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Rockford, suburban unions because we are all in this together. We all need to say enough is enough. They are kicking us while we are down. They are letting us get victimized.They are suspending us. They are suing us. They are firing us. If one of us gets unjustly punished we should all say Enough.
Made a similar argument to my suburban brethren today. Every cop in the country should baffle them with bullshit. Do nothing that generates revenue. Nothing. Busy work and busy work only.
I hope the FOP can do this and open peoples eyes.

I didn't vote for Catanzara. I am dead set against starting from scratch on the contract, I think it's a mistake. Now, having said that, I saw something, was it on WGN? that Catanzara was interviewed for and he did a good job. I didn't want a shit starter involved in our contract because by the time it gets resolved, the city WILL BE BROKE and try their best to screw us. But, he's the horse we are riding on now and he did a credible job outing Beetle Juice for what that little rat is. Well, WTF do they expect? If they don’t need police any longer, why does it matter if they take 3 minutes or an hour? I propose a plan in all these defund police cities( Minneapolis, LA, etc) that they hand the keys to the squads, etc. to the morons asking for it for a week. I mean it’s not like they need training or anything since apparently police are the issue, police with guns are an issue, police brutality is an issue. I’m at work, a Wednesday night 10:30 pm (when working people are climbing into bed) and the radio has been non-stop for hours (kids setting dumpster on fire, multiple men with guns, citizens calling in repeated threats calls, women fighting in street, stolen cars feeing from police, a foot chase- man with gun).
For once we all need to stick together. The city has always won because we all try to carve out what little piece of the pie we can. We bitch when someone else moves up or gets a spot, and god forbid a unit fights to get something more. Then we call them assholes and say fuck them. Instead of understanding that if one piece of the dept gets something more for having special skills or whatever it is, it works in all our favors. Why do always condemn those trying to improve things for themselves. If we all supported each other we could slowly chip away at the city and make things better for one unit, then the next and the next. If this isn't a wake up call for us to stand, not kneel, together then I don't know what is. We are at a defining moment in this department, we will either be the whipping boys for the liberal left's agenda or if we stand together we can direct our own fate. It will be a battle, but it is a battle that has to be won. If we lose, they should close down the department, they would be doing us all a favor. Then we can leave and watch it burn.
This is leadership plain and simple...his passion and common sense is spot on.
