- The mayor tried to order police to let protesters into Mount Greenwood, fully knowing that police had already caught them stashing bricks and that they had made threats that they were going to tear the neighborhood up. They were held up at 111th and western for hours and decision was that made at City Hall to let them go west but it was somehow averted at the last moment ,no thanks to Groot.
Please reach out to whatever sources you have in the 22nd Dist. for further info. The Mount Greenwood people in the protesters definitely would’ve clashed. It would’ve been extremely bad for the neighborhood and for the entire city.
We were wondering about that march. This seems to provide a decent explanation of what was going on the other day.

Agree, keep the trouble out of the working neighborhoods. Protest the Gold Coast, Oak Park, Evanston, Winnetka. I have to travel thru Evanston often to visit a family member in Lincolnwood. Not a single business in their downtown was touched (don’t know about NW end, where it is the “bad side”). These are the same NORTHSHORE liberals with BLM & No Justice, No Peace signs... also saw plenty of Kim Foxx signs on million dollar mansion lawns. The same assholes that hate the police but call Evanston PD when the Howard Street, Rogers Park people make their way up there.

The alleys that the bricks were allegedly found in are still littered with large amounts of concrete chunks, pavers, cinder blocks, scrap metal, etc. With the number of security cameras in the alleys, I’m surprised no footage of the “stashing” was captured or released.
How do I know? My home is on one the alleys. And my camera didn’t pick up a thing, except a few uniforms relieving themselves behind my garage. Don’t worry, I deleted the footage. I’m not here to get anyone in trouble. Weve all been there.

Every officer working 12+ hour days with no days off getting urine, rocks, bricks and other projectiles thrown at them should get an award. Officers have been exhausted and worked to the max. It’s the least the department can do.Some have sustained injuries while working these protests. Officers have done a phenomenal job under the circumstances.

The only world class park on the North Side is obviously Lincoln Park. Sadly, the most beautiful parks are on the South and West Sides and no longer safe for many Chicagoans (Washington, Jackson, Garfield, Columbus, etc.). Grant Park really belongs to the Loop.
The lakefront and beaches on the South Side are much better looking than the North Side beaches (Oak Street is an artificial man-made beach that has to be restored almost annually). South Shore is amazingly beautiful, but the neighborhood has fallen upon hard times.
