Mass Exodus

  • Jonathan Gilliam, former Navy Seal & FBI Agent out of New York City, reports that hundreds of NYPD officers are retiring immediately as the city is in a free fall dealing with nightly riots.

Chief Terence A. Monahan and Commissioner Dermot Shea were reportedly told that they would be removed from their positions after clashing with Mayor Bill de Blasio repeatedly over the department’s response to civil unrest.

The reports come after it was reported that 292 NYPD officers were injured in riots. John Cardillo has reported that while city hall is denying that the police chief and commissioner are leaving the agency, he has multiple sources within the department saying that is happening.
We've heard that NYPD is on pace to loose nearly 1,000 officers this summer.

Does anyone at Personnel know about our wave of retirements? There were more than a few officers who dropped their papers after Sunday's massive failure. The pace is sure to accelerate as Groot intensifies her war against the Department.

All of this insanity over a fucking bust-out who probably spent half it's existence in prison. If you watch the video of saint george on the sidewalk, you will see the pos drop the zip-loc bag of fentanyl when they originally sat him down. Something happened after the hype was walked across the street to be transported that the officers needed to hold him down, yet for some reason no video has been shown from the body worn cams. The left, blm, and libttrds really know how to pick a winner to rally behind, smfh. I guess black hypes do matter.

There’s a shit load of cops dropping papers as soon as this is over. I spoke with numerous cops with 2-5 years that said they’re looking for another line of work. This mayor destroyed Chicago and the police department. Chicago police officers have done a really damm good job over the years and have already been reformed to death. So what does one bad cop in Minneapolis have to do with the CPD? The vile crap we’ve had to listen to day after day, hit with all kinds of objects, working countless hours just to protect an ungrateful city and for haters to protest expressing their 1st amendment rights. We go to work being hated by people that don’t even know us. And the ones that like us are silent. It’s over.

My wife has three cousins (a dad and his two sons) who are NYPD. The dad is a LT and slated for CAPT in August but will now retire in September. The sons have 10 and 12 years on the job and will resigned effective June 30th. Their grandfather and great-grandfathers were NYPD too, one killed on duty. This family has been NYPD since 1897. Their long and storied family service to their community ends in 2020. It's expected there will be several THOUSAND additional retirements and resignations in the months ahead.

It is not surprising that a handful who are at retirement age would take the opportunity to do so after an event like this. NYPD has >36,000 officers. They probably lose a few thousand a year to normal attrition anyway. Best not to read too much into a couple of anecdotal accounts.

I know that leaving after 20 years can be scary if your family is not ready for you to actually retire (ie: young children), but the wife and I are continuing to develop an exit strategy now to get out. We’ll have a bigger house with more land for about what we paid for our Chicago house, but the taxes are less and the schools are much better. I’ll never have all the CU opportunities and benefits that this job offers, but we’ll have good health insurance which is most important, and I’ll be making about the same money. We manage our money well, so we’ll be okay for a couple years until I hit 50 and can start collecting. I’m surprised more people don’t leave with more than 20 years before they’re 50 and find a better life for their families. Guys get to 50, then they’re talking about waiting to 55. I understand the desire not to work anymore, but don’t give your life to this place, they don’t appreciate your sacrifice.

The superintendent and the mayor ( who really runs the the CPD) should make it a steadfast policy of allocating manpower based on square miles and density of population and nothing else. Do not take into account number of calls for service or crime. Protect the law abiding sections of the city. Give the BLM and perpetually aggrieved sections of the city just what they want; less police. Remove the " occupying army that they are always crying about. Disband the tact teams in these crime infested areas. I can't wait for the results.

For all you younger out there pay close attention. For a few years now writers on this blog have been telling you to seek employment somewhere else, some other department, here in Illinois or in another state. Try to go to the feds if you can. "Old timers" who knew what real policing was like have been seeing the forest through the trees and how the dept was imploding. It's now happened. CPD has finally reached a stigma that will take decades to correct. Decades. CPD officers will be shunned by restaurants, verbally and physically attacked and fully disrespected not only by the population but primarily by the politicians. Wake up! Get the police shit off your cars; take the hatbands off the mirrors, get rid of the blue line flags and stop being a target before someone gets killed. It's coming. Now will you guys heed the warning? If you can get out, do so, now. It will be a better future.

We had a few protests in Colorado Springs. The same assholes are showing up for "Justice for Devon Bailey". Bailey was a convicted pedophile, he was out on bail awaiting sentencing. Bailey had raped two children repeatedly for 5 or 6 years. When he was killed, he was robbing people at gunpoint. The Cops had his description and knew him by name. Bailey was told not to run and not to reach for the handgun protruding from his basketball shorts. Bailey ran, put his hand on the gun, (Have you ever tried to carry a gun in basketball shorts? Brilliant)and the two Cops shot him until he hit the ground. There has been an FBI investigation and an independent investigation. The Cops were cleared 3 times. The Bailey clan is still looking for a payday.
Of course, there is an ex-con, man of the cloth behind all of it. He was a murderer, he murdered a US soldier during a drug deal in the 90s. Liberal shit Governor John Hickenlooper released him because he found Jesus in prison.
Yesterday, a bunch of local civilians showed up in body armor and weapons. They said that they were there to "protect protestors". It looked to me that they were Air Force and Army support guys playing dress-up. None of them looked very comfortable in their kit. They all had over-priced guns and sights. Who brings a 10x scope to a street fight? But, it worked. The misguided, liberal protestors left in droves. So much for their commitment. I guess they remembered a previous engagement across town.
Put in for CSPD boys. The Mayor is a good man. He backs the Cops, as do the 100,000 veterans in this town. Come see what it is like to work in a city that respects their Cops.

Obligatory not a PO, I was wondering this morning to myself, with all the "defund the PD" cries, how many departments were going to see a mass exodus of officers and have a hard time attracting new officers.

The defund crowd seems to be forgetting a very important adage with this movement.
"You get what you pay for."
If you're going to pay for crap, don't come crying about getting crap instead of the diamonds you thought you'd still get.

I'd expect the departments where this happens are going to end up with a LOT more bad incidents, to say nothing of the neighborhoods going to hell in a handbasket and looking more like war zones because there'll never be a cop around...

And then, the local govs will try to double-down on the policies, because dont'cha know, the cops are the problem, not the fact that there's 20 POs total on the force trying to cover the area.

I did my 20 at CPD and left at age 50 as a P.O.. I have business so it helps keep me busy and I can make ends meet a bit easier.

If some of you are 50+ y.o. and have the 20 years but not 55 for healthcare and want to leave early come to Costa Rica. Healthcare is less expensive here and you can live off a P.O. pension if your car and home are paid for. If you have kids it would be tougher.

If you are husband/wife (or husband/husband, lol) and have two pensions you would be living large here. There are online jobs you could do to occupy half the day and relax the rest. I'm never bored here. EVER. Every day I think how I wish the day were longer with my laundry list of shit I do.

We had no riots, no looting and there's seldom any protests here. Crime is like zero where I reside now. They love Americans here. I don't have to carry my pistola here ever. I have ZERO intentions on returning to the USA other than summer visits to see family.

This is exactly what happened in the 80's in Miami. A lot of good cops fed up with the lack of support left in masses and were replaced by anyone that could basically fill out an application. They accepted those with criminal records, substance abuse histories and mental health issues.

The result? Miami saw homicides and other violent crimes explode into what became known as Cocaine Cowboys or Cocaine Wars.

I have been warning anyone who will listen at the state level that the Legislators and Pritzker were creating a powder keg in Illinois and Chicago in particular with their early release programs. That was prior to COVID and the Floyd incident which has not created the perfect storm. The politicians have quietly created many avenues to get incarcerated offenders back on the streets and we all know this "non-violent, low level offender" schtick is garbage. Nobody goes to DOC on their first felony. That is another liberal Red Herring

Now that we are chasing off good, hard working, honest cops this city will go up in flames as Miami once did.

To those of you who decide to stay, I wish you the best and I commend your bravery.

Colorado Democrats are not as powerful as you think. There are Democrats in Denver, Boulder, and Ft Collins. Three towns. The rest of the state is different. They don't care about Denver liberals. Ranchers. Military, huge military suppliers. Colorado Springs is quickly passing them in population. Also, they are redrawing districts so that Denver won't have the power it has now.
The first night that the protestors acted up in Colorado Springs, the Cops had permission to stop them with gas and rubber bullets within about 2 hours. There was nothing but crying Protestors running home. No buildings burned. If the Cops would have had trouble, trust me, the people here would back them.

^That and the biggest issue for me was being the responding officer, the untrained "paramedic," the ET, finger print scanner, the jailer, the follow up detective, the youth detective and the vehicle de-tailer. After hours were your volunteer time most of the time. Late arrest or whatever, you better hope your fellow coworkers like you and help with the reports otherwise you're volunteering your time. There were days when I put in 3 hours of my own time working on a DUI. Try putting in for OT and tell me how it goes. Most departments operate on very strict budgets and there's very little room for OT. CPD is free for all "I gets mine" attitude. Until recently at least. You can put in for 100 hours of OT and it would get approved. It was theft especially in 189 and other units of unlimited OT. No audits or oversight no worries. Lightfoot might change that but I doubt it, it's Chicago after all. Ups and downs everywhere you go.
