The resolution introduced by Commissioner Brandon Johnson isn’t expected to result in radical changes to the cash-strapped county’s budget for next year. But it is expected to guide discussions as it advances to the board’s Criminal Justice Committee, amid a growing nationwide push by activists for local governments to shift money away from law enforcement in favor of social services.
Every government function of Cook County, aside from the jail and courts, is redundant and covered by either Chicago or the surrounding suburbs. In fact, in the text of the non-binding resolution is this little gem:

Our readers have been pointing this out for years. Sheriff Fart actually went after a couple of County bloggers for revealing his out-of-control spending and lawsuit payouts. And don't even get us started about the numerous members of the media and their families making six-figure salaries under Dart's reign of error.

Well start with your shitty forest preserve police force along with the stronger hospital police. Both those departments are political patronage jobs for those who work for the machine.

The reason there is no success is because after the criminals are arrested there is no justice by the County from the States Attorney, the Judges and the Jail. There is no long term punishment. Criminals just keep going through the County’s revolving door of justice and keep re-offending because they know the system is a joke. Look at rap sheets from years ago, people went to prison for a long time. That is guaranteed to stop crime. What does the Country expect if there are no consequences.
I get a kick out of Tommy when ever he claims to do "more than any other agency in the country." First run a real agency, and second, be a real Sheriff if you're going to be gloating about how you're doing so much more than all other agencies. Last time I checked you were spending tons of tax payer dollars on all those directors you have on your pay roll.

Why isn't there a 50% reduction to the budgets of the states attorneys office, public defenders, courts and parole office? Let's also stop providing free trauma care to the gangbangers that butcher each other at a wartime pace. Each person sent to the trauma unit and ICU at Stroger costs hundreds of thousands of dollars at a minimum to millions of dollars. 60 years of democratic control and countless billions of dollars haven't done a thing, other than to enable and encourage third world behavior by a segment of the population that the Left wants to control.

This whole call to defund the police is nothing more than a money grab! The blacks are sick of decades of more and more money being given to mostly white police officers, through overtime and more hiring, when crime goes up. Just look at how much was spent on police OT during the Emmanuel years and last year. The blacks, like Ceasefire CEO Tio, and many others, have $$ in their sights and want to pocket all that money. They see how much is in CPD’s budget and OT costs each year and want it for themselves.
To everyone saying crime will go up if they defund the police, that is what they want to happen. They can start all their youth, counseling, mental health, crisis resolution, and any other crap the liberal minds can think of, let it fail miserably year after year, have a bunch of people on the payroll, basically as a ghetto jobs program, and as long as crime keeps skyrocketing, they can demand more and more funding and constantly say they don’t have enough money to make an impact. When the black neighborhoods have all the time and the white neighborhoods are virtually crime free, they will say our neighborhoods need nothing and demand more for them.
Sick of hearing everyone say they can’t defund the police due to crime, it’s what they want. If you don’t think so wake up.
Here’s how I see this playing out:
1. Police department funding is decreased
2. Money “saved” is redirected to various social services (i.e. flushed down the toilet).
3. Crime rates explode
4. New taxes are created to pay for increased police coverage
5. Increased social service funding (see #2) is quietly maintained
In short, it’s all a ploy to increase spending on social services (welfare, public housing - everything that has already failed to improve “black lives”) and increase the clout of city, county and state bureaucracies.
How about the County lay off / fire all the clouted employees with do-nothing, overpaid jobs.

The Jail and Court are at odds over who’s spending enough of the budget so one of them can be increased.

For this last 3 months CookCo kept 95% of employees home including some 400 judges at full pay. Jails been in a sending inmates and arrested home too. Daily Courts dockets will be 500 pages long when they reopen 26th & Cal sometime in September.
Going to be another restorative justice campaign or just regular old raise the taxes? Wonder if that Expungements Fair is still going to take place in September, wonder what that costs.

Under former Sheriff Sheehan the budget was 297 million less than Dart while Sheehan had 7459 employees. Dart has under 6,000 now. You think cutting 1500+ employees (mostly officers) the budget would significantly decrease. Instead it increased 300 million. Enron has nothing on Dart!

Why cant Toni get rid of sheriff several hundred exempt positions. Problem solved.... The sheriff programs are not to help inmates, it is too justify several hundred bs positions. Several jails around country have programs where psychologist and psychiatrists volunteer and cost tax payers noting.
Have any idea how many inmates have been attacked on CCDOC buses. Dart new policy is let the victim continued to be beaten until they reach jail even if 20 miles away. Many victims have severe brain injuries. How much will that cost along with the 29 million in suits recently approved against jail. Jail where public defenders can't even enter without assualt.

I am.not the police, several of my family members were and are. Let me see if I have this straight. Over the years they have asked you to be a law enforcement officer, psychologist, social worker and paramedic. Yet, they have never paid you for the work or given the training of four professions. Now they want to take some of these tasks away(rightfully so, not your responsibility). They want to take away your funding because now they don't want you to do some of these jobs.
In Thurs. Sun Times article Toni P. Relates that she was traumatized when she was 8 yrs. old when some white kids called her and her brother the horrible N word. She takes things about race ‘Personally’. I recall two black teens from Calumet H.S. Punching me around in a failed attempt to steal my jacket back in 1965. Now would Father Phleger tell me to ‘forgive and forget’ or should I be like Toni and Take It Personally?

Here's how I'm doing my 'defunding": I now slow down when driving and see a 'photo- enforced' sign; I now park the car legally; I now renew my state/city stickers on time; I maintain my turn signals & head/tail lights; I pay attention to/comply with traffic rules; and generally avoid giving any LEO a reason to pull me over unless they just want to say 'Hi, respectful citizen!"

It is easy to be a BLM supporter and a white liberal when you live in a relatively crime free area of the city or in the suburbs. Yes, you are correct, let these snowflakes move into the inner city, buy a house, renovate it and send their kids to public schools. In other words, reverse integrate. Then they can experience what the law abiding black family experiences and they can then complain and speak out and will be heard by the media and democrats because they are white. It seems none of the black elites or media really give a damn about what happens in these cities, the crime and the slaughter, I think, because black people are primarily effected. Blacks with money are moving out and rightly so.
Defund County commissioner and all county offices . Give dollars to local towns , end waste in government.
Hire private security for the courts , it will save tax payers money and provide better services .
