- Cook County prosecutors Wednesday dropped murder charges against a man who was accused of carrying out one of the deadliest shootings in Chicago in recent years.
Maurice Harris, now 22, was charged in April 2017 with fatally shooting four people at a restaurant in South Shore. He’d been held without bail at the Cook County Jail since his arrest three years ago.
Court records show that the charges against Harris — more than two dozen counts of murder, attempted murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm — were dropped at a hearing Wednesday.
The Slum Times gives his lawyers a platform to spout their bullshit, none of which passes any sort of muster. We happen to know a bunch of the people working this case and it was some damn good investigating.
In the meantime, four murders go unpunished and (no doubt here) this murderer is going to try to sue the City for wrongful arrest.

I noticed the last 4 years they've been coming after our Detective Division hard (as if that job wasn't stressful enough). The lawyers know that's where the real lawsuit damage money is.
I support the police, we need you, and the current anti-police climate is very disheartening. But I want to put something into perspective for you. Let's look a private industry worker, say, a factory guy. He works for a business, in exchange for his salary and benefits. If they screw with him, he gets mad. If they KEEP screwing with him, he picks up and leaves for greener pastures. He doesn't just sit around and keep wondering when they're going to stop screwing with him. He just up and leaves.
Point is, the purpose of your pension at this point is to keep stringing you along, to keep you showing up. It's no longer anything but a wink and a promise. You may never see penny one from it. It may be defunded or degraded. You might find yourself like the Atlanta PO, with a death-sentence hanging over your head, literally. The city doesn't care about you. They're using your pension to prevent you from making the logical choice, in order to keep the system they broke from instantly imploding.

NYPD just ended all their anti-crime civilian dress units on Monday. All officers have been reassigned to uniform patrol duty. NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea called it a seismic shift in how they do business and responding to the demands from the community.
