Look! Another Teacher

  • Lyons police have arrested a Willow Springs man and charged him with three counts of criminal sexual assault for his relationship with a student at Kennedy High School.

The girl was 17 and 18 years old during the sexual assaults that took place between October and January, Lyons Police Chief Thomas Herion said July 1.

Jose Gamino, 43, of the 8200 block of Rosemere Court in Willow Springs, was suspended from his job as a teacher at Kennedy, 6325 W. 56th St.
Willows Springs resident, arrested in Lyons, works at Kennedy HS in Chicago.

There's no way possible this perv was grandfathered in for residency.

And why is the Southwest News Herald the only media outlet covering this? Chicago Public High School teacher molesting a Chicago high school student - seems Chicago-centric newsworthy.

LOOKIE, LOOKIE another CPS Staffer removed from their position at Juarez HS. Juarez is tied for second in staffer removals with four. The leader is Steinmetz with 6. They had 7 but their head of security Samuel Pearson resigned under investigation January 10, 2020 and was DNH'd the same day.

Benito Juarez Staffer Removed After Allegedly Engaging ‘Inappropriately’ With Former Student

A decision on whether the staff member can return to school will be made following an investigation, Principal Juan Carlos Ocón said.

PILSEN —  A staff member at Benito Juarez Community Academy in Pilsen has been removed following allegations of inappropriate behavior, according to a letter sent to parents.

On Thursday, parents and students were notified about an allegation that a staff member “engaged inappropriately with a former student” at the Chicago public high school, 1450 W. Cermak Road.

“This employee has been removed from the school, and an investigation has been initiated by the Office of the Inspector General,” Benito Juarez Principal Juan Carlos Ocón told parents in a letter.

A final determination on whether the staff member is allowed to return to school will be made following the investigation, Ocon said.

Ocon said the school and district were taking the situation seriously and were committed to providing students with a safe, positive learning environment. He said he was unable to discuss details while the investigation is ongoing.

“Our top priority is continuing to support our families and ensuring the safety of every member of our school community, particularly during this challenging time,” Ocon said.

In an email, the principal deferred questions to Chicago Public Schools. Chicago Public Schools did not answer questions regarding the allegation.

“Our letter serves as our response,” Emily Bolton, a CPS spokeswoman said in an email Friday morning.

In the fall, a Benito Jaurez teacher was removed from campus after he pulled down his pants and exposed his groin and thigh area to a 16-year-old on July 1, 2018, according to a Sun-Times report.

In 2018, the Tribune detailed hundreds of cases of sexual abuse and rape at CPS schools over the last 10 years. The report highlighted failures by the district to protect its own students from sexual abuse and misconduct.

Following the bombshell report, CPS CEO Janice Jackson said on “Chicago Tonight” that the district took the issues seriously.

“There’s a lot that has been done, but my test is that if there’s one case, that’s one case too many, and so there’s opportunities for us to do a better job,” Jackson said.”

Nothing ever happens to the teachers. Huge Chicago Tribune expose several years ago regarding the systemic sexual abuses and assaults with minors and students by CPS employees, and barely a blip on the public outrage meter. This sick, predatory activity is still occurring on a regular basis. At a minimum head of CPS, Dr. Jackson, should be fired from her position.

If they teach special ed or qualify under the “hard to fill” position provision, they don’t have to live in the city. Ever.

However, the 43 year old offender’s LinkedIn profile (http://linkedin.com/in/jose-gamino-5697203a) lists him as a social studies chair, and no mention of special Ed background. He was arrested at a home in Willow Springs, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a City house as well. With 19 years in at CPS he is making over $100k with his stipend as night school coordinator and department chair.

He did what a lot of men think of doing when one of these grown women came on to him. There’s a big difference between thinking and doing though. And that’s the difference between scumbags and the rest of us.

I bet he won’t lose his pension or get any jail time. A cop would be crucified in the public square.

SCC...I believe it’s time the FOP organizes an anti-CTU rally. The CTU is actually making it MORE dangerous to be an officer via acts of straight up selfishness, racism, greed and complete disregard for the black and brown communities yet the local media is silent on this. A FOP rally could change that. Everything that has happened in the past to support this notwithstanding, the FOP needS to look no further than the most recent demands by the CTU stating they refuse to go back in the fall “without additional protections or hazard pay.” The city negotiators apparently offered a variety of additional safety measures, including measures being taken by every other school district in the state and many around the country. CTU rejected them all, some for reasons as ridiculous as “that won’t be comfortable” (because a vest and 20 pounds of gear is?)... This is an obvious move to use the pandemic to get one thing...more money. We can debate all day who is affected more by the virus and why. But I think we can all agree that children of all color need to be IN SCHOOLS to the extent they can come September and the CTU needs to be doing everything to make that a reality. Can’t teachers wear masks/shields, gloves and hand sanitizer like the nurses do at Northwestern? Or every other essential profession? The more kids that are not at school the more targets there will be for the gangs (for their billets as well as recruitment) and the more trouble there will be for the police to deal with. The CTU and their members are nothing but selfish, greedy, racist troublemakers looking out for no one but themselves. The FOP needs to organize a march and call for CTU to be defunded. FOP could also use the recent shooting events of young children to seek an amendment to legislation prohibiting essential safety personnel from striking to include teachers in cities over 1 million or with average homicides over 250 over the last decade...I.e., Chicago teachers only. It’s time to take it back to these clowns. Force them to be part of the solution rather than the problem.

"If they teach special ed or qualify under the “hard to fill” position provision, they don’t have to live in the city. Ever."

Not true!!! Teachers and others staffers that work in 'special need basis subject' areas are eligible for a residency waiver at the time of their hire by CPS. The waiver is renewable every 3 years depending on if their area is still a 'special need basis subject' ateas, which is usually the case as more areas are added every year and never has one been removed.

These waivers go to new hires that are are not living in Chicago at the time of their initial hiring by CPS and that work in these 'special need basis subject' areas. An employee hired in a 'special need basis subject' area and living in Chicago can't later decide to move to Hoffman Estates.

Special need basis areas that qualify for waivers to individuals not living in Chicago at the time of their hire are: JROTC, Special Ed teachers, PE, Science, Math, Counselors, all shops, all Foreign Languages, Computers, all STEM and STEAM subject areas, Special Education Assts, Speech Pathologists, Nurses, Librarians, and Asst Principals if they received a waiver as a teacher or counselor.

Positions that CPS teachers and staffers work that don't qualify them for a residency waiver at the time of their hire by CPS are: English, History, Art, Music, Clerks,Businesz, Security, Principals, Asst. Principals not receiving a waiver as a teacher or counselor, Tenn Intervention Specialists, Community Liaisons or Reps, School Climate Coordinators and all other coordinators, and Attendance workers.

If Perla is hired living in Chicago with her parents as a counselor, she can't get married and move to Elmwood Park with her husband George and isn't entitled to a residency waiver.

If Sgt. Slaughter is initially hired as a JROTC instructor while living in Highland Park, he can get a waiver. But, could lose it for good if he moves back into the city.

If Beth is hired as a English teacher and living in Chicago, she can't move to move to Oak Park with her husband Conrad, especially as English isn't a need area.

All employees hired before November 20, 1996 are grandfathered-in with the old CPS Residency Policy and can li e wherever they choose.

Employees hired after November 20, 1996 at the time of the establishment of the new CPS Residency Policy are eligible for a residency waiver if they're hired initially as non Chicago residents and work in a 'special need basis subject' areas.

Jose Gamino's subject area of History was never a need area, he was hired after November 20, 1996, and thus isn't grandfathered-in with the old residency policy or eligible for a residency waiver, especially as he was hired as a Chicago resident. He gone!!!

Just read a story that the LA Teacher's Union is also calling for police defunding.
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/la-teachers-union-says-schools-cant-reopen-unless-charter-schools-get-shut-down-police

Too weird that it is both CTU and LATU calling for this and then I had a Eureka thought...this is about PENSIONS. I don't for one second believe that any of this is about any form of racial justice or righting wrongs or whatever other bullshit excuse they wrap it in. They know their state (CA or IL) is broke, they know everything is underfunded, they know that somebody is going to not have a chair when the music stops. Teachers are throwing cops under the bus because they want the money going to cops to go to them to better their chances of coming out whole.

The teachers union has crunched the numbers, see it coming and are making a pre-emptive strike to wipe out another public employee group that has high pension benefits. The sharks are eating each other. I expect it to get worse as the pie shrinks more. They don't dare go after fire, nobody would support defunding fire fighting and EMT services, but cops are an easy target (wish that wasn't true but many people do not like LEOs).

Like most things, it is all about money. I would bet anything on it.

Would love to know if you guys think I might be right. I can't think of any other logical explanation for what they are doing. And it would explain why you are not seeing this sort of feuding between entities in states that are better funded. No need to attack each other if everyone thinks their piece of pie is safe.

This whole teacher thing started with Mary Kay LeTourneau not getting put away after her affair with the underage student. They let her out, with orders to stay away. She promptly ignored that, went and hooked up with the kid and got knocked up.

Mind you she abandoned her family. Husband and 4 kids for this underage student.

After that the floodgates opened, and it was open season on underage students.

Btw, LeTourneau just passed away at 58. She had been married to the underage kid up until a few years ago.

Anyway, prpblem is courts system is normalizing pedophilia.

The age of victims is incrementally getting lower.

Homeschool your kids. Public schools are a happy hunting grpund for predator teachers.

CPS employees make quality life’s for there family’s while knowing it wrong off our tax dollars then collect pensions all again the alleged rules. Former school officer here at least 10 or 12 at my former institution of higher learning along with a shit load of kids from Lincolnwood enrolled as CPS students at one Northside high school which is run by a inept along with overenrollment.
