I wish I had said that first. True story, when he was handling coppers at Personnel Concerns, I had the misfortune of paying him a visit. I had suffered multiple losses & a major illness in a year’s time. I was severely depressed and had my “psych sabbatical” a la department. Upon one of my initial visits, he asked me what the deal was...I laid out the series of deaths, family stress, illness etc. He then went on to tell me not to worry about the psych evaluation because “10% of officers sent down pass” (the connected ones is my guess). Then in the most insincere manner, then Sgt Saldana handed me his dept business card, “Well, if you need anything, you can call...Well, except I really don’t start taking calls until after 11....and then, if I’m in the building, you know, then in the afternoon I try to get out to pick up my kid from school...and then well, if I’m not busy.” My reply, “Thanks, Sarge. I won’t call. I’ve got a dog.”
The pension should last at least 2-3 more years. All these exempts are going have a rude awakening.
She turns 55 on Halloween. Went back voluntarily.

You are such a liar. Then why revert back August 16th, after the required date for retirement to get the health care and no submitted PAR 75 days prior? And loose $55k? She couldn’t get it anyway because she don’t qualify at 54 and the submission date passed. And reverting back is on paper only for Exempts. They don’t actually leave their position and go to Lieutenant in a District. She would have had to have been 55 and submitted her PAR prior. Not 75 days prior. FOH NICE TRY CRANE. And the notice went out to our District that clearly said demoted. The other Exenpfs listed all said reverted and they are still in their Unit. All except Melissa Staples.

Funny you should say this. I didn’t get a package I was expecting today from USPS & it said delivery attempted which I know is untrue. I got no other mail either. I’m in Rogers Park. I wonder if this is because Trump denied the USPS $ asked for in the pandemic relief (which is really put there by Dems for the purpose of mail in ballots).
Stevens was terrible as a Sergeant in 018, she couldn’t make one good decision. I see that the only thing that has changed is her title. Shame on her clout for allowing her to cause problems for good officers.

Actually not true at all. There was a major blow up between staples and riccio. This got so bad that all of the detectives detailed to the gang investigation teams had to go back to the areas because the higher ups in the D unit and Organized crime were having a pissing match. Staples thought she was untouchable and then Riccio got a rocket on his back and shot up in the department. Even then staples was protected by Eddie Johnson. Once Eddie left, Lightfoot loved Riccio and Deenihan and didn’t care much for Staples. Riccio got the green light to do as he pleases with staples and he didn’t just have her dumped but he launched her to outer space. Staples went through this department for years thinking she was untouchable. I remember when she tried years and years ago to try and change the marine unit because of her coast guard background. Well, she rose to greatness only to fall from grace. It took a while staples, but you got what you deserved. Remember, nobody is untouchable.

I personally Liked Melissa tho I didn't much know her. I knew enough to know that she didn't know shit about shit regarding Police work. But nobody makes Boss by making good grabs, most are ordained while still in the crib and at least she stayed on the 2nd floor with her hen House, you cant ask for much more from a commander then to just stay out of the way. She was pleasant at least and didn't treat her guys like kids or dogs.

If you had the misfortune of going into the post office, you stand in line waiting while you hear the employees having a good time behind the wall. You are both wrong, Staples was promoted by Kline and then promoted by Rahm. Ricchio was a complete POS and all he cared about was promoting his family members. Staples was moved because she went against Ricchio, but Ricchio was wrong, but he had the backing of Littlefoot for some reason, so he got the ball rolling on the destruction of Staples before he fled, Ricchio was nothing more then a little man with the little man complex. Deenihan did a great job speaking up for the police officers, I will always respect him for that, but he is also a guy who plays favorites and this department has had enough of the favoritism problem for the last 40 years, things need to change. We all need to work together not against each other.

Regarding R. Cruz. If you don’t like the guy then just leave it at that but don’t say stupid things you have no idea about cupcake because you probably weren’t even on the job yet. He was involved in a police shooting where there was a hostage situation. Bad guy fired rounds at the police and lost. I’d say that’s police work. There are a few others but not too many bosses have taken that test and won.
I still don’t understand how a police shooting is supposed to determine a cops “fill in the blank.” I’m not knocking the guy, I don’t know him, but I never understood that logic pertaining to coppers and the ability to league and/or be a good boss.
You can literally be a dog ass do nothing Who cheats and beats on his wife, abuses his kids, avoid jobs your whole career, alcoholic, degenerate gambler, and then get into a shooting and somehow everything is forgotten about.

Brandy Deenihan is a weasel and was never the working police. He has a raging case of little man’s disease with a major chip on his shoulder. Had sweet spots his whole meteoric career. Wouldn’t know how to work a murder case all the way through if his life depended an it. 2 minute stops at every level of the D-unit. Not even remotely the most knowledgeable at all, a lover and supporter of the creepy “Lispy lieutenant Ozzie V” and yet he’s the chief of defectives?!?! Bwahahaha....... Deenihan is a backstabber and political hack who will kiss many asses to keep his spot. Notice he promoted clueless Jarrod Smith of all people to Commander of an Area. Hahahahahaha....... That alone should tell you everything about him.

Word has it that Riccio was still trying to run shit via Staples. Finally pissed off Deenihan and all the other bosses that want to take care of their people. Larri gave the green light to axe staples and now she’s eating shit on the watch, returned to her Merit Lt. pay grade. She’s not 55 for another couple years so it’ll be interesting to see if she finally got the hint that she’s no longer welcome. Her legacy, along with the other retired and demoted hacks, is that of a bunch of incompetent, self-serving assholes. Assholes that were in it only to line their pockets, and to play the friends and family game.

Actually, Riccio saved her from being dumped to LT last time. was able to get her a Street Deputy spot. The last dump may be for down town stuff. She really was never the police. Just a nice person who joked with the guys. She was Miriam Santos' driver and she made her a sgt. She is leaving in DEC or Jan after she finishes 29 and a day. I think she is 54 on this Holloween. Her wife is on job and that is her ins plan.
And I think thats enough about the past we should be worrying about the future or a lack there of.

What do you mean. Melissa was the Chief off Detectives. She helped make this mess. She was promoted way over her mental emotional and policing ability. Eddie was too. She helped fuck over a lot of people. Good for her ass. Then she lied and sad she wasn’t dumped. That’s a real bitch move. Well I’m sleeping better. Deenihan is just as worthless. How can you have a Chief who has never been in patrol? Dump him to. He is a part of the problem.
If you make Merit Sgt or LT that should be your last bump. No gold star given. They will bring back merit. If not people will sue!!!

She got married when she was still a chief because she knew she was getting dumped out of the detective division. Just in case she pulled the plug before turning 55. She married her girl who was a house mouse sergeant that she had merit promoted to lieutenant. She then had her Lt. wifey assigned to forensic services to keep her out of patrol and any type of real work. She only stuck around recently because she landed softly as a deputy chief, but she couldn’t keep her arrogance in check and now she’s been dumped to her merit Lt. rank and put on the watch. Looks like a he’s out the door whether she likes it or not, but she’s got her medical insurance taken care so not too bad. Talk about clout hack moves. This department is sickening.

Brendan Deenihan is a nice guy who was promoted to Commander and sent to IAD by McCarthy. When the CR# was pulled for the LIEtenants cheating scandal, Deenihan was the Commander who oversaw the "confidential" investigation. Then Sgt. Mike Barz was also working in IAD and was assigned to investigate the CR#. He swept the facts about the cheating scandal under the rug. He lied when he reported that he could not find any evidence of cheating and was rewarded with a meritorious promotion to Lieutenant (put in by Deenihan maybe). He was in that first class along with the cheaters he was assigned to investgate. Deenihan turned a blind eye to the facts of the investigation and went along with the conspiracy to bury the truth about the cheating scandal. In return he was also promoted. He was made Deputy Chief and sent back to the D unit where he has spent almost all of his career. Deenihan is very much a company man who goes along with whatever he is told. He is a very nice "yes" man. Feel free to check where he was working when that CR# was pulled.
