To take her frustrations out on the hard working officers is inexcusable and is shows her lack of respect and compassion for her hard-working police department, she should have at minimum rolled down the window and told those officers to stay safe and thank you but she can’t because of her dislike for the law and order they represent. Had an employer that had to institute a temporary double-shift (3hr break in between) two days a week to keep operations going. That was a while back but I do remember having really good lunches/dinner brought in for the rank & file and also an acknowledgement of appreciation for the extra work. Result: increased productivity, period. It's not rocket science Mayor, thought you were smarter than that!

In narrative document involved officers were refused their personal thus denying any opportunity to rest resulting to severe pain in their lower lumbar area. Not law but I've been in a similar position doing foot patrols in Baghdad in 110 degree heat. Sometimes you need a breather, drink some water and take 5. The guys in my Army unit back then experienced good leadership and shit leadership. Good leadership would come out and sit with us for a bit. They'd ask us if we were alright, if we were holding up ok, if we needed anything and, God forbid, lend an encouraging word. Shitty leadership would nitpick nit noid uniform infractions, they would bitch that our weapons had dirt on them ( even though a sandstorm just blew through ), they'd berate the ranking guy in front of his men for any little thing they could think of. Which do you think boosts morale and makes your people more effective?
i spent decades digging holes in frozen ground for the city. we worked the same kind of crummy hours you do, usually 7/12s plus, in the worst weather especially our brutal winters. mayor bilandic brought us coffee. several times janey baby byrne saw us working and always stopped to offer a kind word and sometimes treats. once working in front of harpo studios oprah herself came out to thank us for our hard work and had her people bring us coffee and donuts. alderman, local pols and even big shot ceos downtown would stop and thank us and often order coffee for us. a big mob boss in the old first ward bought us pizzas more than once working nights on a long job downtown in january. im sure there were many more i forgot. its called human kindness. for a party based on love, acceptance and tolerance these people sure turn into monsters quickly when given power. did any of these people need to do this ? no, they might have even thought there goes my tax dollars, but, you know, they did it anyway. a little pat on the back during a difficult job goes a long way. lootfoot is rude, ignorant and angry and doesnt have a clue how to lead people. she should take advice from real leaders whomever they may be on how to treat people. remember, its the thought that counts little girl. oops, forgot mayors washington and sawyer also. knew how to treat the peons in public.
I don't think it's leagle to have CPD animals, such as horses or k9 to work 12 plus hours.
You mean to tell me she was out at 0430 and wasn’t grateful that people were actually still on their post even though there were zero people out??? And she didn’t think to tell these kiss ass bosses to send everyone home and save the OT $?

I’m sure that after Mayor Lighthead scolded the young officers, she screamed at the violent looters who were destroying property and stealing whatever they could get their paws on. She probably cut through the caravan of thieves to go to Oak St Beach and hunt for any early morning beach parties...

HERES a thought..........why not set up fire hoses (1" & a 1/2's) at intersection - hydrants. let water jets sail at disruptive agitators also remember the police are not near the group....using fire guns on engines adds power....and fewer officers needed...fewer officer injuries....too bad we don't have helicopters with water tanks drop a load of water over protestors....be careful not to hyit those "peaceful ones"
