- The city needs more ambulances – Mayor Lori Lightfoot acknowledged the problem just last year. She told CBS 2 at the time that more ambulances were expected when the new Fire Department contract was finalized.
That day has arrived, and guess what – there won’t be a single ambulance added. Not one. CBS 2’s [...] talked Wednesday night with the whistleblower who has been sounding the alarm on an ambulance shortage for years.
“We know that we need more ambulances, and it’s my expectation, when we finalize a new fire contract, there will be more ambulances coming on line,” Mayor Lightfoot told [a SeeBS Troll] in December 2019. But the mayor’s new contract with the Chicago firefighters’ union doesn’t add a single additional ambulance to the streets, despite what she told our cameras last year.
We bring this up because a little birdie who drives an ambulance for CFD told us that on the west side Monday, there were approximately eighty (80+) overdoses in a sixteen hour period, including one call involving six people who had to be treated with Narcan and transported to hospitals.
So when your elderly parents or grandparents or neighbors can't get an ambulance in Mount Greenwood or on the north side, you can remember that they're all on the west side saving junkies self medicating with fentanyl laced heroin. Maybe you can mention it at the funeral.

I’ve raised the hue and cry about this for almost forty years but none of my city worked neighbors share my concern. Families and n Edison Park are condemned to death should someone be in full arrest, or a baby choking on bread, when a freight train delays the ambulance or truck coming north from the house in Norwood Park. The politicians like Aurelia Pucinski’s family have that ambulance for their personal use, as does Edgebrook with the house on Lehigh; however, If you live north of the tracks along Northwest Highway you simply have no ambulance to try to save you. Again the racial voting patterns of my Hibernian neighbors ensure the democrats they support will hasten their demise. Better learn the Heimlich maneuver and buy one of those Philips Defibrillators like the one at the desk for your home.

Adding additional ambulances means that minorities would need to go to college for 2 years to obtain a Paramedic license. This will just lead to future whining that Paramedic hires aren’t diverse enough and that those Paramedic examinations need to be easier. It’s easier to hire minorities, attempt to educate them as EMTs, then sneak them to Indiana after they fail the Illinois state test 3 times. They finally pass and ‘racist’ CFD reaches their minority goals!

I know not everyone can afford it, but if you call 911 and they won't/don't send an ambulance, call a private ambulance service. Look up the numbers now of some of the "privates" and write them down. They take Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, credit/debit cards. Call them and find out BEFORE you need them. Also, know where the closest hospital is, in case you have to transport them if they can be safely moved.
Other than shopping for a new strap on or checking to see if her mop needs a tuneup, what does she do all day as mayor to make this city a better place? There is something right? Humor me anyway. What has she done since elected? Oh! I remember she crawled up the teacher’s union ass.

It’s rare see a city ambulance up on the far nw side, trucks doing most of the preliminary assessments (?) and most will tell you once they get sent out into the jungle from these outpost stations they hardly ever get back because of the nonstop runs to St.Rogers, Mt Sinus and Antonio’s.

Yeah, I haven't needed one for myself since 2015. Before that can't remember. Mom and Dad tucked a few dollars under the phone along with the Yellow Cab number, and I was somehow born. There were no fire ambos. Ambulance # was funeral home #. We felt so safe when Quinn brought the paranedic rigs in around 1962 - the Snorkels from Germany and other better stuff too. Picture that today! You're right, they are wearing those big rigs silly on ODs and shootings and ED bustouts "on the corner by the liquor store," or around the corner but up all 3 flights...
Maybe that's the best solution; de-fund and disband CFD. Use volunteer community medics from antifa. They can throw rocks and taunt until the sick person gets up and runs away. Success! The way some people come back on Narcan, cursing because you spoiled their dream, maybe just don't bother.

But nobody that ODs ever gets an ambulance bill either, so the city loses that money too. My CFD ambulance ride about 11 years ago to a hospital 1.5 miles away, cost me over $800. Meanwhile, my taxes go to pay for every gang banger that gets shot to get a transport via our tax dollars. I guess ONLY GHETTO LIVES MATTER & these activist want reparations? You’re partially correct in the a small few do a vast majority of the work in narcotics. Like everything else in the department. But the work the few do is outstanding.
